@@yohon6360 Should be fine. You just don't need to follow the handheld companion part of the video since the Legion Go's gamepad is already recognized by Windows, unlike with the steam deck.
@@DDecaffor me I don’t have the create profile option on the profile section, soo have to change randomly change controls for games I play and still if I start my game comtrols are still messed up
So I got hc set up on my Legion go, disabled LegionSpace so it wont interfer w Hc but as soon as I start to actually game it freezes, or closes my game and hc. making me force a hard restart, or just completely shuts off. Not sure what is the best settings I Need on to guarantee its getting enough power and stop it from always not working properly. I really like it just can't even play my games at all cause it crashes.

Hi! I'm in the process of following your guide, but I'm stuck at the installation of Handheld Companion. It appears another program, HidHide, was installed along with it, and is preventing Handheld Companion from opening or operating properly. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Handheld Companion and removing HidHide specifically, but I'm not having any luck. Do you have any suggestions?
Hidhide does come bundled with it. I think handheld companion needs it to emulate controllers so the Steam Deck controller is recognized in games. I've never experienced an issue with hidhide but I have had issues with handheld companion not opening. Typically just installing it (without removing it first) fixes it.
So, correct me if I'm wrong, but this setup would work for me to build a console PC that auto boots into a game library so I can access emulated and steam/windows games through a single interface (playnite)? I've been dying to turn my old rig into basically a console, but want to avoid having to use a keyboard/mouse every time I start the computer, making it as much of a controller only console experience as I can.

I have dont that. I've been using Playnite for a year and this just happend. On settings it's set to auto launch on startup and start in fullscreen mode. It's only after that playnite activates that script that it switches to desktop mode.@@DDecaf

Yes, just I have a new version of the start up mod on my channel with support for boot movies. The one showcased is not as good as the new one and doesn't work on Windows 11.
It is possible to replace steam.exe with explorer.exe in registry so the windows will launch directly into gamepadui. I managed to make that on my htpc next thing i need help is to make explorer launch after steam and a shortcut to gamemode on desktop. Anyone willing to help me?

I found a way to get Steam to automatically start up before Windows and then allow Windows to continue starting up after it opens (Just like I did with Playnite in this tutorial). I will be posting a short later on today with a demo and will create a tutorial when I have time.
To note: handheld companion refused to work on my device, but steam deck tools worked like a charm. Gave me control over tdp, OSD with rivatuner, fan control and other settings. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to make the back buttons work in steam deck tools.

there is also a script i have that lets you run a boot video of your choosing. you no longer will see the windows logo while booting up straight into playnite. im looking for it now in my file. if anyone is interested leave a comment and i will post it when i find it
My reason is cause steam doesn’t allow metadata of non steam games to be added. I can add anything to steam but they just don’t get the metadata. While playnite does. Also customization of how it works and looks. So I personally like playnite on my ally for those reasons.

I keep getting an error tahat says " Operation did not complete succesffully because the file contains a virus or potential unwanted software" when I launch the playnite.exe file. What would happen if I just unistalled playnite with the script still active? Would window launch to the desktop?

Does playnite add games that were installed in steamos? Isn't the steamos drive unreadable from windows?
Steam games can be added to playnite but you are correct, Windows can't read anything SteamOS related.

I just installed a bunch of preloaded apps using add or remove. They updated windows allowing you to remove more of them now.
After installing a handheld companion, can we assign controllers to games via Steam?
Word of advice, don't use handheld companion with Steam. It will result in double inputs.
You can also change the theme in Playnite so the interface resembles Steam OS!
