For me, overall, this is the ultimate Level track…And the fact that Gary Husband - one of the greatest multi-instrumentalists of the past 50 years - agreed to play drums even before this Level tour, when their star was (commercially) fading, says so much about Gary and his sense of how great Level were (and are) to this day…I feel very blessed that I was there in these transition years for Level. Some sublime musical nights to have attended.
Anything off of "True Colours" is pure magic. Damn if that Alembic doesn't sound just bloody brilliant! Looking forward to hearing Mark's new Status and of course Pete Ray Biggins on the drums in NYC July 23 2010!!!!!!!!!!! Level forever!!!!!!!!!!!
I could tell from the fist drum fill that this was gonna be a tight band and that they are. What an epic performance. I loved the guitar effects during the first part of the bass solo.
My favorite band is badass. Mark King is the truth on bass & vocals. Mike is the truth on keyboard & vocals. And Gary Husband is awesome on drums. Do miss Phil Gould on drums though from the original lineup.
Wow- just thought of my dream rhythm section - MK and Vinnie C. Just take a moment to imagine the kinda over universe spitting grooves that would emerge
@Mowac Yeah.. I know what you mean.. I play bass, too, and it's remarkable how consistent his right hand is, how syncopated his approach is, AND he is SINGing whilst he does it!! AMAZZing !!
MARK KING ES UNO DE LOS BAJISTAS QUE MAS ME GUSTA ESCUCHAR. MUY POCO PROMOCIONADO A COMPARACIÓN DE OTROS BAJISTAS QUE NO VIENEN AL CASO NOMBRAR A LOS CUALES NO TIENE NADA QUE ENVIDIARLES.
@phillybass101 I too love the Jaydee sound..I actually have the good fortune to own one. sadly I can't produce the same magic as Mark. But as a note I ran across this video "The Brothers Johnson - I'll Be Good To You 1976" Louis Johnson on an Alembic. It's live and tight nice sound...check it out.
Everything about them screams class even a lack lusture Husband circa early 2000s performance. Best Band Ever (80 to 87) We all hoped didn't We?? re a Reunion. Fucking love You Boon and the rest of You Chaps. How Good are thislot even at half strength?.!!!
In my opinion Alembics are overrrated and overpriced. Mark killed when he played the JayDee Basses. Fingerstyle on the JD's is more punchy and in your face. If I had a choice which i don't I'd pick the JayDee Baby!!!

4:20 I like to think that he pointed at the people that wouldn't shut up during the interlude. "Too much talking!"

Mich hat Level 42 durch die langweiligen 80er gebracht.
