The Aspey bros...the two best smiles. Glad you have eachother to support, and share with. Now, you sharing his open mic has more context; and that is a huge accomplishment to forever memorialize. Great vid... your one take videos are really honest...and I appreciate it.
Anxiety is so much more prevalent than people like to realize. I love the way you approach common issues and spread messages of positivity. I've been practicing meditation to deal with my crippling anxiety. It's like i can think logically at first but can't help feeling overwhelmed by seemingly irrational emotions and it just gets worse from there. Thanks so much for this video!
Jono, you seem like an aweome, kind, intelligent and chill person. And definitely not hard to look at too ;) start up your own youtube channel right now please, you obviously have good stories to tell that can help others.
It sounds like you are speaking about hypersensitivity to ones environment. For me to even write this comment my mind is going into hyper-drive and my physical response unconsciously is to sweat. Great chat as it reminds me of my own moments of being overwhelmed by my own thoughts.
I think it's great that James can really set an example for his brother in overcoming anxiety and doing public speaking, etc. that's very interesting to see two brothers so similar be so different too. Awesome video as always
I love that you both have the same laugh. Seriously though, you both have such a beautiful, kind and compassionate nature. Jono is really interesting to listen to. I could totally relate to mc thing and public speaking. I will definitely look more into mindfulness. I hope that you make more videos together when time permits. So is there an older brother that's single? lol ;) x
You're just made my favorite TH-cam channel even better! Its great to see brothers so aware and so awake and able to share each other's victories! Y'all made me smile Thanks
You both have the same laugh, so funny! I can totally relate with what Jono is saying. I am in recovery from Agoraphobia. At my worst I was housebound. I am now vegan and doing the Earthlings Experience for the animals - of this, I am most proud. Animals rights has helped me so much. I am now going to get in to meditation due to James' video. Defo going to try to be more mindful too. Well done Jono - getting up on that stage was epic!!!
More videos with your brother! Awesome he overcame his fear. I would like to see his journey of what else he overcomes.. a lot of people are going through the same thing I think it would help them and help others understand people going through those fears
the snow ball effect is the best way to describe the anxiety (especially in social situations) I feel and it seems the more you try "combating" it, the stronger it grows? although sometimes it's like a second more assertive and non-emotionally wavered me emerges and helps take the reins a little. it's debilitating at times. something as little as going the shops for a few things is an emotionally overwhelming experience. it in a way feels like I'm taking on other peoples emotions, like a never ending influx of emotion, once or twice brought me to tears but I'm trying to use as Jono said where you stop yourself and think rationally for a second... ☺ Thank you for sharing ❤ Namaste 🌱
What a fantastic success! Well done you for getting up and reading your poems...you are an inspiration!! Keep on keeping on brother...This time next year you'll be delivering them with meaning and enthusiasm.... Thanks for sharing your story and your advice 👍🏽
Great video, and advice! I've had such severe anxiety, that it's become agoraphobia. Definitely practicing mindfulness, staying in the moment, and making sure that the subconscious mind doesn't have a chance to wedge those irrational, auto pilot fears, into a totally safe/normal situation; has been key. It's frustrating as hell, and a vicious cycle. It can be overcome! One of my keys, was watching my negative self talk, that I didn't even realize I was doing until a few years ago. Also, realizing that people are generally more concerned about themselves, than noticing I'm feeling* uncomfortable or embarassed by feeling anxious, has been really helpful, too :) Blessings, thank you for sharing your story, I'm glad your doing well!
This was so awesome!! I think I smiled the entire time lol!! You two made my night! Thank you James for sharing your brother Jono with us, your fans. Now we're his fans too ;) xoxo
Nuff respect Jono not only for doing the poetry but for taking part in this video and sharing of yourself especially when anxiety is an issue. Honestly you did not appear anxious at all but really in control of yourself and open about who you are and I know that will help a lot of people who struggle with anxiety becuase I think one the greatest fears people have about anxiety is they fear that other people can see through you and know how you are feeling which they cant and that was evident here..... I hope you have your own TH-cam channel and can share ideas about mindfulness and also spread your poetry which I reckon is problably very deep and spiritual. Man hugs my friend. Tony T.
is it possible to be in love with 2 people at the same time? 😍😍😍 loved this vid! you two are both adorable and well done jono on facing your fears! even you talking about having to sing at karaoke or speak in front of people started giving me anxiety, its good to see people overcome it! will definitely look into this mindfulness thing
Such an amazing person, both of you. James, you are my #1 inspiration in life. Love life and stay humble. Also I keep working on my anxiety, hopefully Ill be able to defeat it like your brother have. Nice hearing from your brother
Thank you for your wonderful video, I think it is a very important issue you are talking about... I should try mindfullness more often, the hard thing is to adapt it to daily life. Very often our fears are old emotions, which are stuck in the nervous system and sometimes deep breathing and body sensations help me to ground myself more, but the dilemma is when there are serious stories behind it, it takes such a long time to feel home in your body
Hi there. Great video. After a health scare followed by a small op about 3 years ago, I found myself suffering from anxiety and was surprised how you could experience actual physical symptoms through it. Thankfully as time went on I calmed down again although it still happens occasionally...You guys are like two peas in a pod!... Have a great day...Freda
Very cool! There are a lot of people out there that need to hear that there are ways to ease anxiety and panic attacks. Good talk. Wow you two look a like, especially your smile and the way you both laugh. Adorable! You are both very attractive young men, that is for certain! : D
This is so good! Thank you for breaking it down... Its something I have been working on but I am such a newbie. Love the part about talking slower , listening more and not having judgments on others or ourselves. Great video guys!!!
So enlightening! Thanks for sharing Jono! It's epic to hear from someone who knows the struggle of anxiety and is making positive steps to over coming it. Gave me hope, for sure. Congrats on your spoken word sesh!
Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It's so helpful to know that I'm not alone. We all have our demons. Highly recommend the read: 'Mindfulness: A practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world' By Dr Danny Penman. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. Luckily I haven't had a panic attack in just over a year now. I did a 12 week therapy course. I practise Yoga 30 minutes every morning and meditate for a minimum of 10 minutes a day. It helps SO MUCH. My panic was happening out of irrational fear and I would breathe really fast, short breaths, I couldn't stop crying because I felt overwhelmed, my body started to shake and I felt like I was losing my mind and had no control. My stomach and chest felt tight and tense and ached so much. I felt trapped and suffocated (irrational feeling). Meditation and Mindfulness helped and still helps me SO much to control the breath and therefore control the anxiety and panic. Another thing that helped me very much was affirmations. When I was having panic my thoughts felt chaotic. It felt like there were hundreds of people screaming in my head and my ears would ring. If you say kind words to yourself daily it helps replace the negative words for positive ones.
I have the worst anxiety, so bad to the point I get into paralysing panic attacks where I honestly think I'm about to die. Arghh this video was so good, I've never really heard of mindfulness, Jono is there any literature you'd recommend reading that has helped you with your anxiety? My main anxiety attacks happen whilst in a car, I dont do road trips much and never go on hilly roads, stems from a past trauma and massive social anxiety. Anyway, would love to read up on what you've learnt, any suggestions I'd be forever grateful 🙏🏼 nice to hear your story, thank you for sharing! You two are awesome 😊✌🏼
I know that finding a therapist that specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and panic attacks can help a lot. Just make sure they are experts at CBT. In my opinion it's not that helpful to ruminate and go over and over a past traumatic event like you might do with some therapists. There are some good books using CBT approach. Doing little baby step experiments in public can help too. Like just say hi to 50 people you are passing on the street until your anxiety about it is gone. Etc.
James: “ Just Imagine, I Have Brother, He Lives a Really Good Life, I Let Him Free Range All Day Long, But One Night...” Me: Is that Who he was talking about !?
Hey James have you heard of Jeff Foster? hes got a really interesting story and perspective. he talks about non-duality and presence in the moment too.

your smiles just made me smile involuntarily the whole way through!
Oh my goodness - the two of you together!!! Double the amount of genuine warmth, inspiration, etc. Awesome! xo
I think it's great that James can really set an example for his brother in overcoming anxiety and doing public speaking, etc. that's very interesting to see two brothers so similar be so different too. Awesome video as always

This whole comment was a car crash from start to finish... welp it embodies my anxious restless state perfectly.
Eckhart Tolle is a great teacher of this.
Alan Watts is interesting in follow up.
