Rich I’ve been following you for almost 3 years. I’ve learned so much from your podcasts. I’m from Chile, I live in northern Patagonia and here fortunately for us still very normal to eat home made food. My diet is totally plant based, but I think that the most important thing is to try and focus not only plant base, but natural home made food , season food and local food. I mean what’s the use of being plant base if you importing veggie burgers from Australia, or tofu from Europe, our vegan artificial supplements? Recovering the pleasure of home made food with fresh products will heal us in our bodies and our souls. ❤

Simon , Thank you for the generosity of your pdf and the depth of your research. I’m looking forward to reading your book.
Without a doubt, I sincerely offer that this podcast was the most informative documentation of what constitutes a well-balanced, highly nutritious and efficacious plant-based diet. I can't thank you both enough....life changing and saving! Lots of love for you both. xoxo

This helps me a great deal in dealing with my health challenges (high cholesterol, NAFLD, metabolic syndrome). Thank you!! I will be will be following and listening to more!

Interesting conversation, and nice summary of topics. As a Plant Based Registered Dietitian, I always enjoy listening to Simon Hill. I have a chronic gum infection in one spot in my mouth and have to use the antimicrobial mouthwash from time to time, when Himalayan salt rinses don't do the trick. I never use antibiotics, but it was eye opening to listen to the discussion about mouthwash. Appreciated this!
You have no idea at all about what humans need to eat do you? Its a species specific and species appropriate diet..and that is a carnivore diet. I will gladly take you on and destroy anything you have to say in defense of a plant based diet.
Thank you so much for this amazing talk. I learnt a ton and have already implemented some of these teachings into my diet - so grateful! Thank you Simon Hill for being so generous with your wisdom on everything plant-based, and of course to Rich Roll for being a great host as usual. Deep gratitude 🙏🏻
I can say without a doubt that this episode is life changing. I just wanna thank you guys so much for all the work in research involved at bringing this information. I'm from Brasil and I wish most of the population here, this amazing place where we can grow anything, could have access to this. I'll find a way to make it happen. The are many barriers starting with language and poverty (wich we know drives people towards a sickening diet/eating patterns) and going all the way to educational access, researches access etc... I feel privileged for been able to break a few os these barriers and be here. I thank you for breaking a lot os these barriers and be here.
When I hit age 50, I started having bad acid reflux, heartburn, and IBS. I became quite ill for several months until I found a book online that took care of the problem (Fast Tract Diet, by Norm Robillard . . . Similar, but not identical, to the FODMAP diet). Apparently, millions of people have my problem as well - - Difficulty in digesting complex carbohydrate chains. Many fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, and dairy products (even kefir) are problematic for me, unless I eat them in small doses. In fact, after having six years of no digestive problems, I recently got on a health kick and starting eating these “healthy foods” in much higher quantities. I ended up “playing myself” and got very sick again. The point of this diatribe is that not everyone can eat the same way. I would love to eat as I did when I was younger, that is, lots of plants, whole grains, and legumes, etc, etc, but my body, as it ages, has given me an unequivocal NO! It’s annoying but I am limited by this vessel that I live in.
you need to add those foods back to your diet very slowly and in very small quantities at at time, even like a spoon full of beans and slowly build up. That's what Simon was talking about when he said low and slow. You need to build your microbiome back up and that takes time. If you give it more than it can handle you will suffer. I had severe bloating a while back and a Registered Dietician put me on a low FODMAP very restrictive diet and while I felt better in some ways it was not sustainable and I felt intuitively I was missing out on so many nutritious foods. As it turns out I feel this made my gut worse in the long run. So I just jumped in, knew I would suffer in the beginning, but kept adding all plant foods back in bit by bit, slowly, in very small portions - I now can eat ANYTHING, and no bloating!! Also read Fiber Fueled by Dr. B
You clearly wrecked your gut with veg! Don't listen to those vegans with "you need to slowly build up" your body giving you signs that you should stick with meat and minimal plants, don't ignore it.
Your gut is fucked up and has no defense system, our natural human diet as mammals are raw meat, don’t believe me try one piece of raw beef from a good source and watch yourself be amazed at how smoothly it travels through and passes with ease, I’m not joking doing this myself after years of having my health fail me for most of my life and believing nonsense like this, remember everything on earth wants to live and has defense mechanisms to try to survive, animals have their body to defend themselves physically while plants have poison as their defense mechanism, especially seeds their so helpless to its surrounding that it has no other way of surviving apart from being very poisonous, it’s not normal to not not be able to digest the food we eat or require any kind of supplements
Im 24 years old and i got hemorrhoids and it just would not heal i remember when i was on a plant based lifestyle i would use the restroom twice a day and soft stools. After just 3 days of eating plant based and using aloe vera as usual ive healed my digestive system and hemorrhoids. I included spinning for cardiovascular health and chewing my food more and drinking more water. I cut out refined grains and chips and i was healed no more bleeding and saved a trip to the doctor or even worse surgery!
Awesome discussion. I’ve been on a whole food plant based diet for over a decade now. Initially, I noticed energy levels go up and inflammation in my joints go down. But it wasn’t a panacea. I still had gut issues. Once I found Anthony William’s books and approached my issues with more knowledge, I then got to a whole new level of health. Once you’re empowered with his info, you can’t help but feel like you’re on another level with regards to plant based knowledge and disease reversal. Would love to see Anthony as a guest at some point because I believe it would help answer many of these questions and ultimately help others with their health issues.
@@wyattknowles8885 He’s been the number 1 selling author in health for 7 years straight. Most of his books are available at the library. His masterpiece is a book called, Cleanse to Heal - the information within is decades ahead of what I learned studying plant based nutrition. The guy saved my life - no joke! And he’s helped many, many others.
@@duststorm7287 right brother been eating raw meat and drinking the eggs with shells and no lie im starting to develop a kind of euphoric feeling after my meals, while my mother just quit her veg diet because she just farted all day and had no energy, its INSANE how backwards and misguided these people are just, the truth is opposite from what they believe but they’ll vouch for it with their lives, or the little that’s left of it, a good diet shouldn’t require a supplement and these “men” are low energy
These gut issues people talk about. So strange. I've been plant based 11 years now not a single issue. I used to get food poisoning and other shit on occasion from meat /fish/ eggs but since plant based, not once.
Nitric oxide can also be drastically increased by breathing techniques as the yogic humming bee breathe. Up to 15 times compared to normal breathing (American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine 166, no. 2 (2002))
Low salt can be full of fillers.. just have less salt.. Common brands include Lo Salt, Morton Lite Salt, Tata, Saxa So-Low, and Himalania reduced sodium pink salt. These are still made of salt, but they substitute a portion with potassium chloride. Some also include glutamic acid, lysine, and magnesium carbonate to enhance flavor. They have 30-66% less sodium than regular table or sea salt. In short, what is meant by low sodium salt is simply regular salt that has been diluted with other ingredients. The actual salt component still has the same percentage of sodium in it.
I have attempted to meditate many times in my life and prior to this CD the only success I've experienced is with live guided meditation. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq This is the first CD I've used that cuts through my unmedicated ADHD and enables me to truly relax and experience a quiet and energizing interval. The instructors voice is very soothing and pleasant to listen to. I am easily able to sit successfully through the entire CD, and for quite some time after. I cannot adequately express how tremendously helpful this CD has been on my spiritual journey!! Two thumbs up and 10 stars!
Loved this practice for my morning. During meditation after our second repeat of the mantra, I felt my right hip soften significantly. I hold a lot of tension in my hips. Thank you for this!
The last time Simon was on it served as a wake up call to fix up my diet. I did great for a few months, but in the last 2 or so weeks have slipped off the ball slightly, watching this has been a kick up to arse to finally reorder those vitamins I ran out of and get some whole foods in during the meals where I'm lacking! Great podcast
Just eat real whole food. It’s that simple. Don’t get it out of a box and if it has more then one ingredient put it down! This include both plant and…. ANIMAL products!
@@mdflowsdon't be giving other people advice please. If you eat a dead carcass and call that healthy, you have no business telling others how to eat.

As a consequence of travelling, I recently switched from vegetarian back to omnivore and feel noticeably worse for wear. I'm looking forward to eating back at home with more plant-based foods.
Excellent show, thank you both. Great to cross reference dosing and philosophy, very encouraging for us new to the lifestyle (4 years). How can we get institutional doctors on the same page and spread the knowledge? Those who need a change the most probably aren't listening to Rich and Simon
Dr. Neil Barnard and his team of medical professionals are trying to do just that through PCRM (Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine). They also have a great podcast called The Exam Room. Not sure if you've heard of this before.
I watched Part 1 (episode # 636) of Simon guesting on Rich's Show and it was certainly apparent how knowledgeable and personable he is. That said, I doubt that I'll watch Part II as I found Part 1 a little 'too in the weeds' (or 'too in the plants' if you will) to wrap my small brain around (concurrently, I'm trying to educate myself on Russian history that might partially explain Putin's decision to invade Ukraine). Perhaps, if I had converted to a plant based diet earlier in my life, my brain would be bigger and more able to comprehend many of the studies that Simon talks about. While I'm typing this, I'm hoping that Rich and Adam are wrapping another segment of 'Roll On' that will then be uploaded for our listening/viewing pleasure on Thursday, March 3/22.
it is amazing that all this is in his head! like no notes or something like that. Well done interview too. will have to listen again and take notes because I cant remember all of this.. 😀
From Dr Michael Greger: "As noted in my video about the oxalates in turmeric versus cinnamon (Oxalates in Cinnamon), it’s not just the amount that matters but also how well particular oxalates are absorbed, and the bioavailability of oxalates in BEETS is relatively poor (6 times less so than spinach, for example). Cooking the beets could cut levels about 25% but for the rare person with a condition like idiopathic calcium nephrolithiasis (a type of kidney stones) that needs a low-oxalate diet, a better high-nitrate vegetable choice would be arugula."
@@patriot20000 I totally agree with this. But in my case I was eating over a pound of spinach a week and other components of my diet at that time created a perfect storm of conditions for stones. I had 2 surgeries which were the most pain I’ve ever experienced in my life. I had passed 2 each 5mm stones and that was NOTHING compared to the surgery. I’m prone to hypercalciuria. However I do have at spinach in mixed greens several Times a week and beets on occasion. I went 100% plant based shortly after the surgery and all my values normalized and have been for over a year now.
@@jakeegolf2580 Oh man, I feel so bad for you. I remember the Seinfeld when Kramer was screaming while passing stones! If you are able to you can switch to kale instead of spinach. Much lower in oxalates.
He mentioned he was going back to Australia so maybe that's why. I am not too impressed compared to other Health experts. This guy is advocating wheat which nobody else does. Wheat is genetically modified and can cause problems even if it is organically-grown. If not, it is dried with glyphosate which is an antibiotic and destroys the gut. Lots of other comments he made I found lacking in wisdom. He knows the basics but I feel like I've wasted my time here.
Farms kill grubs, snails, rodents, etc etc We can eat what has not been abused. When this world inevitably turns upside down, hunting will be a prized skill. Be ready and able to digest meat when it's the only option. Chew 32x; the stomach has no teeth 🤗
Hi rich .thanks for all the great podcasts , vip. Any podcasts on plant based and becoming depressed. Year and half on a plant based I became depressed.very strange for me. In short ,started to eat a little meat again and felt great. Like wtf . Still est tons of veg.but a little meat ?? Thanks again
It seems the less meat I eat the better I feel. Especially the joint pain which starts to decrease after about 36 hours. It crazy I was running on a cement track without knee and ankle pain. Previously my joints felt like glass running on a track. I gotta get to atleast 80 percent plant based.
Enjoyed the in-depth insight on a plant based diet. I have transitioned to a plant based but get sloppy sometimes. Your data and expertise helps get me back on track. Thank you both!
Great content. Love your work Rich. Being an avid consumer of Nutritionfacts I feel the need to add that multi vitamins with B12 as a component, the B12 can become corrupted with the other components to create a analog which can "plug in" the B12 receptors and thereby prevent whole B12 from doing its job. So he recommends that you take a dedicated B12 outside of what may be oresent in a multiV. Also Morton makes a 60 percent potassium chloride 40 sodium salt infused with Iodine.
You can buy losalt off the shelf in most supermarkets in the UK. As to whether you can distinguish the taste between it and normal salt, I guess depends on how much you use day to day. Me, I find there's enough salt in the food I eat and don't add anything to my food. My wife however covers her food in salt and she can tell.
Nitric oxide is a gas, therefore, one can't take it as supplement. Nitrate or citrulline is a good option. Oral microbiome on posterior third of your tongue initiates the conversion from nitrate to nitrite. Then in your stomach, nitrite gets converted to nitric oxide. Plant based surgeon, Dr Won has done a significant research on this topic.

Check out Anthony William’s book, Cleanse to Heal. Absolute game changer!
you need to add those foods back to your diet very slowly and in very small quantities at at time, even like a spoon full of beans and slowly build up.
Add in some eggs and fish
Im 24 years old and i got hemorrhoids and it just would not heal i remember when i was on a plant based lifestyle i would use the restroom twice a day and soft stools. After just 3 days of eating plant based and using aloe vera as usual ive healed my digestive system and hemorrhoids. I included spinning for cardiovascular health and chewing my food more and drinking more water. I cut out refined grains and chips and i was healed no more bleeding and saved a trip to the doctor or even worse surgery!
Did you drink aloevera juice or apply on hameroids...
@@preetipallam8697chew food thoroughly and drink alot of water and freeze the aloe vera into small frozen popsicles and insert
So glad I made it through this, I learnt so much! Thank you both!
Would love to see Anthony as a guest at some point because I believe it would help answer many of these questions and ultimately help others with their health issues.
where can we find this mans work>??? thank you
@@wyattknowles8885 He’s been the number 1 selling author in health for 7 years straight. Most of his books are available at the library. His masterpiece is a book called, Cleanse to Heal - the information within is decades ahead of what I learned studying plant based nutrition. The guy saved my life - no joke! And he’s helped many, many others.
@@wyattknowles8885 your answer is strict carnivore.
Plants are poisoning you.
This is the best conversation on nutrition for me. Wow! Wow!
Thank you!!
Wow! So much info and value packed into this session! It is very much appreciated!
Loved having Simon back on the pod
I can't believe it. Over 6h of this master class! Thanks rich and Simon!
Loved this practice for my morning. During meditation after our second repeat of the mantra, I felt my right hip soften significantly. I hold a lot of tension in my hips. Thank you for this!
You ask all the right questions Rich! Thank you!
Simon Hill is the GOAT
This is amazing, thank you for the info and for using credible sources. That’s huge!! 👏🏼
@@mdflowsInteresting that you are recommending eating animals after this amazing program.
@@mdflowsdon't be giving other people advice please. If you eat a dead carcass and call that healthy, you have no business telling others how to eat.
I’ve learned a lot with clarity. I am grateful to Simon and Rich 🎉
Occupational Therapist here…I’ve been recommend for years that my veterans with BP issues or congestive heart failure use “no salt.” Once people switch, they seem to not have any complaints or regrets
I listen to this whole thing and learned so much! How amazing!
TH-cam recommend this video and 1 minute in it talks about Chris Hemsworth's CENTR app. I was the owner of the domain centr for 20 years before Chris Hemsworth's group bought the domain from me. For Google/TH-cam to recommend this video to me shows how TH-cam and Google know everything about you.
As a consequence of travelling, I recently switched from vegetarian back to omnivore and feel noticeably worse for wear. I'm looking forward to eating back at home with more plant-based foods.
Exceptional. Thank you both.
For the skeptics, for the well-informed, and in those last few minutes of his thesis, for the romantics. 💕🌱
This is golden. Great interview! Great questions and answers. This has to be one of best things I ever watched.
Thanks so much. It was a pleasure listening to Simon.
Thanks for sharing this marvelous content. Cheers from Brazil!
My two favorite guys at it again! THANK YOU!!!
it is amazing that all this is in his head! like no notes or something like that. Well done interview too. will have to listen again and take notes because I cant remember all of this.. 😀
Absolutely right about the exercise for the bones. So glad I've found and listening to this wonderful man. Thanks
Great conversation, much of which I already knew, but there was still new info in it.
Omg this was great Amen 🙏🏻 so much info. Really needed this ❤️❤️❤️
Be cautious with beets and spinach, super high oxolate content. I got kidney stones from having too much spinach for 18 months.
However I do have at spinach in mixed greens several
Times a week and beets on occasion.
@@jakeegolf2580 I'll have to get used to arugula.
THANK YOU so much for this very large and detailed tome of a podcast. Just in the nick of time for me and also I hope this goes viral!
Awesome message Interesting. Informative honest. Thank you 😇
Amazing stuff, thank you so much guys!
Was taken aback how quickly a guest was repeated. But not complaining at all. He's a pleasure to listen to and learn from
Because he’s returning to Australia.
I choose the diet that is overall better for myself, so long it does not abuse innocent animals. Vegan for them 💪🏾🌱
Farms kill grubs, snails, rodents, etc etc
We can eat what has not been abused.
Truly splendid podcast. A treasure chest of info. Thank you!
One of the best podcasts yet for . cheers
Your
data and expertise helps get me back on track. Thank you both!
Would love to see Dr. Milton Mills on here 🙏🏽
My words moments before Riches to the closing words, Amen Brother :) living in line with your values, Nice!
Bread Alone has a whole wheat sourdough that is fantastic! I find it at my local organic shop, but I've also seen it in Whole Foods.
This was great🙏🏾
BOOM - informative eye opening and right on point.... Thank you - Spreading the word ... Tony in London
What a fabulous podcast and guest!
Excellent!! Loved it all, especially wonderful closing words! Thanks!!!
Simon is amazing! Thank you both for this episódio 🙏🏻
