    Yo. 👏🏼Listen 👏🏼 up. 👏🏼
    I’ve had hypothyroidism for 4 years. I take thyroid hormone medication every morning. 5 months ago my energy was just stupidly low, so they did a blood test, and sure enough, my TSH hormone was out of wack. So I went on a vegan diet, only consuming whole foods (fruits, veggies, whole grains and legumes, nuts and seeds, nothing processed). 5 months later, my energy is amazing, but I was still skeptical, so they did another blood test, and my TSH levels were back to normal. I ONLY changed my diet. 4 years with this disease...I fixed terrible symptoms in 5 months. With DIET. 🤯

    I had the exact experience you describe around the 19min mark. My husband and I had been together 6 years, never able to get pregnant. We never used any protection at all and I never got pregnant. We didn’t know if it was me or him but I suspected it was me because my periods were very irregular at the time. Sometimes I would go 2 months without a period at all. I was approaching 30 and I was desperate to have a baby, so I started thinking maybe the hormones in animal products was effecting my hormones. So I went plant based (became vegan shortly after when I learned the ethical stuff). In 5 months after going vegan I found out I was pregnant with my first baby. I had a healthy picture perfect vegan pregnancy and had a healthy baby boy. 14 months later my husband and I were not being careful and we did the deed once without protection and two weeks later I found out I was pregnant again. This time without trying at all. It’s like I went from being infertile to being extremely fertile. Now I have 2 healthy boys who I breastfed exclusively and now my period is regular and I have no cramps anymore which I had bad cramps before, no breast pain during pms either which I used to have a lot. I 100% believe I would not have my sons if I hadn’t gone vegan. I wish more people would open their eyes to the miracle this diet is. I think it could help everyone in some way.

      Yes, Dr. Barnard comes across as making a conscious effort to be accurate and evaluate studies carefully. What I like the most is that he helped me understand that the traditional approach to eat chicken without the skin is not good dietary advice to really get my cholesterol levels down. I was relieved to learn that we can get cholesterol down but need to do whole food plant based eating to achieve it. This was great news for me,!and it worked! I was confused before hearing Dr Barnard because my cholesterol stayed high with my doctor’s advice to eat chicken without skin! He is also a great catalyst for better nutrition policies such as getting vegan options in hospitals and schools! I will keep donating to PCRM to support this good work.

      Daffy Autopsies have been done on babies who are stillborn or die shortly after birth. Fatty streaks were found in their hearts. Fatty streaks are the beginning of heart disease. Just as women who are pregnant or hope to get pregnant now know to stop smoking and quit drinking, in our lifetime we should expect that they too will decrease the amount of animal products consumed. That’s not a good thing. Many women stop having their period after going vegan. Because your body goes into a state of self-preservation on a vegan diet, because the diet is absolutely devoid of any nutrition. Vegan diet is a permanent fast, so you will see healing at first, but then if you don’t introduce animal foods back, your body will begin attacking itself for vitamins and nutrients.

    • @katlunascoven7932
      @katlunascoven7932 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@camwhitman5425 that's just utter bs. People are used to eating small portions of calorie dense, not nutrient dense, food and then keep their portion size while eating less calorie dense but more nutrient dense food. so they under eat. and under eating is never good, on any diet and will lead to loosing your perion in the long run. as well as massively overeating will make you lose your period at some point due to hormonal imbalance. get educated and stop bashing vegans, ty.

I would opt for foods lower in the glycemic index, and alternatives like black or brown rice, until you get used to what foods are healthy and nutritious. It’s easy once you get going, but starting out on a vegan diet can be challenging and you may be eating wrong. I would probably slowly ease into it to get the hang of what foods you should eat and stuff. Also make sure you are getting enough omega 3 to balance out omega 6, since an imbalance can cause acne from what I’ve heard.

    What a brain and what a mind on Dr. Barnard. He can switch from one topic to another thrown at him by the interviewer within a second, talk for 1.5 h consistently and without pauses or any sign of fatigue, coherently and very specifically and educationally. What a treat to just sit back and listen the entire interview, getting soaked with scientific information, and wisdom. My biggest resonating point was about alcohol, with which I did have a problem myself, when Dr. Barnard said something along the lines of waking up with this "creepy feeling you have toxins in your body". Oh my! Preach!!! That was exactly how I was feeling when I used to wake up hang over, I just couldn't verbalize it. And that creepy feeling of poisoning yourself (which when I type it sounds like a really idiotic thing to do to your body in the first place) leads immediately to feeling guilty and ashamed of yourself. Why do we do that? It's our alcohol culture, we're being exposed to it since childhood by seeing it as a norm at our homes with our caregivers and family environments giving us that example, and of course in popular culture, TV and films, alcohol is portrayed in a very normal way, associated with joy, fun, adulthood, manliness, success, sex, friends, social and career advancement, relaxation, rewarding yourself, etc., just all these false "positive" messages that are completely wrong and lead to disastrous outcomes later down the road for many individuals when they make such connections in their brain so early on in life. I know I did, as a 20 something year old it was normal and considered fun to get totally wasted on weekends with friends. How fucking awful!!!

      Happy to hear that you're in remission and wish you a long wonderful life. Only one scientist(S. Korean), an immunologist, said during pandemic( we here in US botched up the covid handling from the start) that virus loves and thrives in an acidic atmosphere. It applies to cancer too. When you consume animal protein, the by products are uric acid. For an optimal health, your body should be alkaline. Alkalinity is only in the fruits, veggies which are mostly simple carbs, fibers with hardly any protein and fat but vitamins and mineralsrich. So, our intake should consist mostly of these and some protein and less fat.
      Let's forget about plants, meat, zillion diet and use simple common sense which doesn't require any degree. Medical community picks and chooses things that suits their pockets. When it comes to protein, they have been brainwashing people for long that only animal protein consists of all the essential amino acids and plant protein is not and hence inferior to animal protein. The amount of cruelty done to animals in the name of animal protein is insane. If animal protein is so good, then why do you need doctors? No animals in the wild go to doctors. Plants/trees don't move and hence they have developed a far more robust immune system than animals.
      Think for yourself and ask lots and lots of questions until it makes sense without any bias. You know your body better than anyone else. You call 911 or go to the doctor when you have to. It's not that the doctor had a telepathy and calls you and says "you're are going to be sick in couple of days, so get an appointment with me". Everyone should use some critical thinking and look for consistency and objectivity.

It not easy for people believing this, without knowing actually what's happening. Like Doctors, they only know, what happened to your thyroid and tests and get levels, and know medication and they prescibe it to us. But no one tell why your levels are off and how you got those levels off. 🤷‍♂️, btw, if you don't mind, may i ask u this, "you went all plant based or is there any restrictions to your diet in not having hypothyroidism, like increase iodine or so?" It’s anecdotal. Your results don’t mean that milk was the problem. There was dis-ease in your body from some underlying condition, likely due to inflammation. When you went on the vegan diet, you essentially shut down your bodies basic functions, because a vegan diet provides zero nutrition to the body; the body goes into self-preservation mode (this is the same as a fast). So when you added back animal foods, you broke the fast and this re-revealed the underlying inflammation in the body. What you should do is fast for about 14 days and then go on an animal-based diet. This will fix your issues and nourish the body.i

      @@KnowWhat the only benefit for vegetarians is that they’re consuming high amounts of dairy to nourish the body and offset a lot of the damage caused by the indigestible plant proteins and fiber that cause much inflammation in the body. Fiber from plants causes inflammation in the bowels and although it has some benefit in regulating or slowing down the absorption of sugar in the gut lining, it’s more detrimental in causing leak gut and preventing the proper absorption of nutrients from those nutrient-dense animal foods. A high-carb diet will raise Triglycerides in the body, which is atherogenic (causes atherosclerotic plaque) . A high-fat (Low-carb) animal based diet, rich in saturated fat and cholesterol, will actually lower triglycerides and raise HDL. It will also raise LDL which mainstream medical industry says is bad, but it’s actually beneficial to fighting infection in the vascular system and reducing inflammation. Check out some of the videos from Dr. Nadir Ali on cholesterol and what is the optimal diet for longevity. He has many informative videos on these subjects.

    Until age 20 I had the worst menstrual cramps. Then women’s groups recommended calcium. I just had to take one or two tabs just before my period and it stopped cramps completely. No pain vomiting or passing out from pain. Complete relief. And I ate meat and dairy everyday.

      He is plenty wealthy. The sports jerseys behind him are not bargain buys. Income from 15 books gives enough income to not need donations. He worked for the nice lifestyle, earned it, but no to donate

    You covered a LOT of ground in this interview. Dr Barnard is a leader and I like the way he will admit if hes not 100% sure of something where as others may present something that's grey as fact. A true master.

    Vegan diet can be helpful for endometriosis but not in all cases.
    Supplementing fish oil/algae oil higher risk of prostate cancer, test DHA and only supplement if low (may prevent Alzheimer’s)
