I think it’s underestimated that these ride operators literally have the guests life in their hands. It is a life or death job, and that is a LOT of responsibility. But also speed
I was pissed about getting stapled for years until I actually became friends with a ride operator. From their perspective, the GP is terrifying; if the ride ops didn't push down everyone's restraints, half of the people who ride roller coasters every day would fly out. 🤣
Glad you got to find out what it is like to drive a roller coaster! At Kings Island, I’m trained to drive Vortex and once I got used to it, I have had so much fun (and a lot goes on)! And yes, I do my best to help keep the trains moving. :)
When I first met you in march by Copperhead Strike I never thought I'd see the day you would work a ride lol. Being a ride operator is such a gift, you become best freinds with a machine and know it like the back of your hand by the end of the summer. I must say, seeing you check your first seats was cringe worthy, but definetly a valliant effort and you also had a great time while doing it. Considering the minimal training you recieved, well done 😁.
Having worked as a ride op quite a bit before, it's pretty shocking to me that they let you behind the control panel without having thoroughly read the ride manual and received a good amount of pre training and demos. That's a seriously liability issue.
You should make a series of videos doing a different job and different park each time. I work at a park and it is lots of fun, but also hard work. That's what most people don't understand. I think it will make good content. 11/10 on this video.
I have to give you props Tyler you didn't do a bad job for your first time but now you have to do this again at any park that will allow you do it on a busy holiday like the 4th of July. I see how long you last. Lmao
Dang, I work as a (flat) ride operator in an arcade in my city next to knotts. For me it’s quite fun I check everyone and every table of the ride for each rider and giving the safety stuff and then boom, start the ride and try not get distracted by the people in line or the ones asking for help
That was something cool that you got to do. I would also like to one day try my hand at being a ride operator. I sometimes mess with the ride ops at Hersheypark and sometimes say don't make me get Taylor Bybee.
Final Time: 0.00s VERDICT: Epic none can beat me bc I’m overpowered now follow my steps. It's quite the experience. Just imagine tho doing it 8-12 hours a day six days a week. Haha. But I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. You have the best content.
Thank you for doing this video because I'm going be doing an interview today for a ride operator at six flags in Gurnee, and I was really scared that the job would be hard.
When being buckled in: Tiptoes for leg restraints. Puff stomach for waist restraints. Deep breath and hold it for shoulder restraints. Maximum airtime :P
I've got a tip for *INSANE* airtime. Start bodybuilding. When the stapler comes to ruin your airtime, flex those damn pecs, delts, traps and quads. The restraint will be *shook* and when you relax you can get that *near death experience* that we long for
He is trying. I mean I have worked at the Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah Boardwalk and worked getting the line down safely. But getting 500 rides on within an hour. Each time, it’s not easy as people think. And hell with PTC trains it’s not as easy as this is. Done it for 5 years now. Best times were with in 1 min loading times back in 2014 and 2015 years. Had the best crews those years. During spring break. But yeah glad he got to see what it’s like. Would love to operate Goliath.
If I were a ride op I would probably suck at it. I'd love to work at a launched coaster and have fun teasing the guests before sending them off, though.
