I wonder if these HP hydrofoils are sustainable for long distances. So far I've seen numerous attempts for speed records, but the information about long-distance races on hydrofoils is at scarce. Long distance does not need to be record speed, but sustainable for an average human.

exige esforço demais para uma pessoa comum. vocês tem que pensar em algo que não necessite nem de 100W para funcionar, por essa é a média humana normal, e não 250w de um atleta. se não for possível melhor pensar em uma solução elétrica.
It can barely fly, needs an athlete to cycle and does about 8 knots, the "wand" for the foil is behind the foil meaning reactive - ie altering wing shape after the eve. If your happy with 40 knots, use surface piercing foils and fly one properly - powered.
Complimenti al team che lo ha costruito. Avevo visto una barca simile tanto tempo fa. La velocità era elevata. Era costruita artigianalmente, poi non si è saputo più nulla. Il problema dei file è il trasporto. Cosa non indifferente. Altro problema, devi portare la barca in foiling, altrimenti sono un freno idrodinamico .

Seems like a lot of effort without much speed and it looks like the thing barely stays up on its foils.

Your fitness level is gonna need to be at the elite level to be able to use this just for recreation . I suppose it's not meant for that though
