He's not underrated at all to true experienced guitarists and musicians who know and hear his talents. He's got so many true fans and followers and influenced so many up and coming musicians, myself included.
Wes is still one of my favorite guitarists from the whole Nu Metal era. He was one of the guitarists that inspired me to pick up the guitar in first place. His transitions from clean to heavy groovy riffs are so incredible. Limp Bizkit was my favorite band ever in my early teen years. Although I don`t love them as much as I used to, the "Chocolate Starfish..." album will always have a special place in my heart❤. And I still think that Limp Bizkit is getting WAAAAY too much hate😒
Something thats often overlooked is despite how great Wes is as a player its how he writes parts that work in conjunction with Sam Rivers bass parts that really make the magic happen, the interplay between the two is phenomenal
You nailed it. Sam and John are super important to what Limp Bizkit creates. It most definitely takes the sum of all the parts to really create the magic. I agree fully. Thanks for checking it out. 🤘😎
@@blackoutstudiospei along those lines Pantera would be a great one as well, dimebag didn’t have very many clean riffs but the ones he did have were cool 🤘
Wes does tend to get a lot of credit, and he should, but Sam gets overlooked in a big way. He's a great player and his bass parts are so important to the sound of LB.
Good god, Re-Arranged was sick, man! That tapping, so creative. I played some Limp Bizkit lately, and posted the "high part" of It'll Be Okay in my channel.
This was such a pleasure to listen to and watch. Such nostalgia. Excellent work. I love the My Way solo so much. Re-arranged is so genius, but slightly simple. Wes is so intelligent. You forgot "Don't Go Off Wandering" 😜 I love The One also... one of my favorite tracks ever.
It seems impossible to say he's this kind of player, or that kind of player. He truely created his own sound, which is amazing enough, but adding his love of art, special effects, and costume/character design into the mix is such a pure way really makes appreciate that this is a genius artist putting it out there in a way that is 100% him.
Wes is a unique player in a good way. He, Rivers and Otto can lay some really sick clean instrumentals. Rivers is also extremely talented, because he always compliments Wes's weird playing instead of following with some simple basslines.
Sam Rivers is such a huge part to the sound of LB. If you dive into what he plays, the number of incredible bass riffs is large. Thanks for the great comment!
Nice demo of all those cool riffs. Now I just have to figure out how to set me DL-8 pedal to get a similar sound. Is it basically the same type of delay in most of those intros?

Awesome video mate, personally I think that Wes couldn't have done all this weird experimental stuff if it wasn't for Sam Rivers being an incredibly good bassist that knew how to hold down a groove while keeping open the sonic landscape for Wes.
You are absolutely correct. Sam is so incredibly underrated. He's always been one of my favorite bass players. It takes each musician, put together to really create something great. Thanks for the great comment. 🤘😎
Wes это один из тех кто сподвиг меня заниматься гитарой и музыкой. Не выкладываю так как занимаюсь для себя. Но Вес навсегда в сердце и кончиках пальцев.
This was rad. Outstanding job my friend, we fellow Shred Heads Salute you 🫡.🎸🤘Also a beautiful PRS, fellow PRS Shred’r. Borland’s Cleans are perfect. I recommend doing a follow up, plenty more clean tones. Such as from the EP with Wes, then Gold Cobra especially; plenty of clean tones including on the bonus tracks. Then cool ass ones off LB Still Sucks. Respects 🤘🎸🤘
That is an awesome riff, I agree. I think the majority are in C# standard, as that was a Wes staple. There could be a couple in there that are different, but it's been a while so I really would have to revisit. 🤘
It would be difficult to actually pick one as "better." They were both incredibly creative guitarists, but certainly have different styles. Wes of course was the only guitarist in LB, where Head was one half of a duo with Munky. What do you think? 🤔
Hot Dog needs more Q and the delay set to 440ms. Livin it up riff is missing some notes. No sex has too much Q. The One tone is very nice, but also needs delay set to 440ms. Hold On is on spot. Good job but a bit room for improvement ;)
Wes always had a giant pedalboard. Loads of delays and other fun things. I don't have the effects set up just like his, but this did the job for this riff video. Thanks for watching! 🤘😁
The only thing I think you should work on is the timing. Part of what Wes defines clearly as a guitarist is the fact that he is very precise on the riffing and the timing, always on the beat, and he does all that like, moving his body all around. This could be an improvement, but you did great
3$BY & a little of Significant Other had Wes's tapping & introduction to the Bass/guitar thing that is NOT a tenor but after Chocolate Starfish up until present he Floyd rose'd out of his damn gord.
That 4 string thing was pretty interesting, and you are absolutely on point. Once he started using that Floyd, he REALLY wailed on that thing. HoT Dog is a prime example. 🤘
Wes is kind of an underrated guitarist honestly. He doesn't try too hard and he has fun with it which leads to interesting results.
