Loved both of the SC movies as a kid. Growing up in a place where it was a 20 minute to your friends house you watched a lot of tv. And one of these was on quite regularly.
This was a favorite when it came out, I liked it more than the first. Watching Jonny 5 discover the city was a lot of fun. He was constantly getting into adventures, even if they were kind of silly, kid me loved it.
Oddly enough, this movie was actually my introduction to Johhny 5 and the Short Circut duology. It wasn't until way, way later, I saw the original when it was on hulu. Kinda like what Minty said in his Terminator video about seeing T2 before the original.
It was an early pick for me in the past few years to show to my young kids. It’s like sending a kid down a dark alley alone when trying to watch anything recent.
short circuit 2 was cool to me as a kid I called it Johnny 5 and had no idea it was a part 2 till many years later it's one of my favorite childhood films
I remember this sequel would air on tv in Brazil constantly. But the first one never aired. I only saw parts of the first one on Hbo already on the 2000s. And yes, the smashing thugs scene also nearly made me cry
I can remember having liked SC2 better than the original at the time. I felt like the payoff at the climax was exceptional, and enjoyed the Bonnie Tyler song's usage. I was shocked years later (when the internet became a thing) to learn that Ben was played by a white guy. While the first film introduced us Johnny Five, the squeal is my favourite. On discovering badly beaten Johnny Five 😢, I thought Michael McKean gave a spine tingling performance. He and his silk shirt made me laugh 😂. Love 80s films ❤
Grew up with both Short Circuit movies and I remember watching the sequel more often than the original. I guess I just always enjoyed the end of the movie after he gets destroyed and rebuilds himself to get revenge. The use of “I Need A Hero” just seemed to fit perfectly.
Both movies scared me as a kid when Johnny 5 was either blown up (obviously it was a replica, but there was a good minute before that where I was crying) or bleeding to death in the 2nd one.
No joke I watched short circuit 2 last night, what are the chances? This is much better than the first one and has one if the best soundtracks of all time.

Yes, I've always liked Short Circuit 2... Perhaps not on par with the first one, but It always seemed under-appreciated to me and quite a good movie... Also, as a Kid from British Columbia I knew nothing about the city in the background and when I moved to Toronto when I was 21 I immediately recognized the buildings from the film.... especially since my first Job in Toronto was on the 12th floor of Royal Bank Plaza North - the gold-plated building which stands in for the bank in the film and features prominently in it (and can be seen at 5:25 in this video).
Having watched this movie before the first one I have more appreciation for it. It has the best use of "Holding out for a hero" too. Coming to the first movie after this one I was very surprised to see Ben was just a side character. The sequel makes it seem like he was the original protagonist.
I was a kid when this came out and my sister and I used to watch it over and over, more than the first one. Also this film made me fall in love with the Bonnie Tyler song “Holding Out for a Hero” long before Detective Pikachu and the Super Mario Bros. movie would bring it back.
Fun fact: 'Die Hard' appears in 'Short Circuit 2'. Ok well, in a way. The car battery Johnny 5 uses to supplement his damaged battery after being attacked is a *Die Hard* branded battery.
The good thing about your videos is that it makes me rethink my own opinions about certain movies that I previously disliked and makes me check them out again to give them another chance. I really would like to see a new Short circuit sequel.
I liked SC2 when i was a kid but it was disappointing not having the two main characters from the first one in it. For what they had to work with, they did about as good as you could do with the sequel.
Number 7: Minty was originally supposed to be played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman!! However, PSH was busy being dead... So they brought in Minty, who reassured the producers that he was alive.
This movie was directed by Kenneth Johnson, the creator and director of the science fiction epic V: The Original Miniseries (1983). Johnson was also the director behind the very bad movie Steel (1997).
Best use of "I Need A Hero" in any film.

Literally watched this over last weekend lolol😊
You mean you didn't figuratively watch it?
SC-2 ran on a over the air TV channel around 3mo ago. The film fell flat. 1980s. Like a few other cash grabs 🤑. Cocoon, Crocodile Dundee, etc.
About moving the action to the city.... nice example from that same era: Crocodile Dundee II ;-)
Oh wow! That Minty sure does know alot!
Then why not do a 10 things we know about MINTY?! :D
@@altSHIFTNerd Yes, plus Wikipedia helps too LOL!🤗😎👍🤖
Having watched this movie before the first one I have more appreciation for it. It has the best use of "Holding out for a hero" too.
Coming to the first movie after this one I was very surprised to see Ben was just a side character. The sequel makes it seem like he was the original protagonist.
I was a kid when this came out and my sister and I used to watch it over and over, more than the first one. Also this film made me fall in love with the Bonnie Tyler song “Holding Out for a Hero” long before Detective Pikachu and the Super Mario Bros. movie would bring it back.
That song was in Footloose.
Fun fact:
'Die Hard' appears in 'Short Circuit 2'.
Ok well, in a way. The car battery Johnny 5 uses to supplement his damaged battery after being attacked is a *Die Hard* branded battery.
"How dare a white guy play an indian man" same people " a black queen of france is fine in a historical depiction "
He's not White he's jewish.
Hahahha
Have you seen the movie White Chicks? It's just acting. Get over yourself
He's not White.
Can’t get black people off your mind, huh?
The good thing about your videos is that it makes me rethink my own opinions about certain movies that I previously disliked and makes me check them out again to give them another chance. I really would like to see a new Short circuit sequel.
I liked SC2 when i was a kid but it was disappointing not having the two main characters from the first one in it. For what they had to work with, they did about as good as you could do with the sequel.
I loved the Radio Shack product placement and when he subsequently rebuilt himself in to a Road Warrior type robot.
After all this time, BRING ON THE 10 THINGS we DIDN'T KNOW about MINTY!!!
yea why you sexy and when did you become such?!
Like, why is it "Minty"? "What are the Comedic Arts" as relates to "Minty"?!" Why are you so playfull? Why disappear in the way you do many eps?!
Number 7: Minty was originally supposed to be played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman!!
However, PSH was busy being dead... So they brought in Minty, who reassured the producers that he was alive.
“Oscar! I a really pissed off!”…. I still get chills from that awesome scene.
They already made a gritty Short Circuit reboot. It's called "Chappie"
Lol literally just posted the same, always saw that as a sequel to short circuit
And the beatdown scene is just as heart wrenching. @@spotfist5056
I loved renting this on VHS as a kid.
Los Locos kick your balls into outer space!
Ooohhhh! The old downtown Eaton’s!!!! Miss that store! Thanks, this is great, must watch again now!
One of my favorite movies
I loved the sequel more than the original. The music, emotion, and comedy were great!!!!
Well, this was a movie I never heard off!
How?
@@Flint-Dibble-the-Don Maybe before their time or since movies like this aren't shown as readily as they were in the 90's and early 2000's on tv!🤔📺🎥🤷
Fisher Stevens was fantastic and there should absolutely be NO apology given for playing the character of Ben
This movie was directed by Kenneth Johnson, the creator and director of the science fiction epic V: The Original Miniseries (1983). Johnson was also the director behind the very bad movie Steel (1997).
I think some people think Wally is basically Disney trying to make there own Johnny 5
