The amount of information this guy provides is more than incredible! I really enjoy your work but most importantly your will and ability to share your knowledge! Best channel ever!
I to am a illustrator or artist but your stuff is blowing my mind and I went to Art Center college of design for four years and you impressed me. I work for Mattel toys doing the artwork on the hot wheels packaging for monster trucks and more so I wanted to try my bike helmet like yours. But with hot wheels theme. It’s kinda hard to understand everything you say like the clear coat used over the pencil. I looked at links but they say can’t ship to my address but i really looked very fast. We use to coat are pencil drawings with a Matt coating from spray can a long time ago and forgot the name of it. It looks the same. I have painted large murals with brushes and am great with an i Iwata airbrush but again now I only work on a Wacom tablet and haven’t used an airbrush for long time lol. I did use one on a gun or ar15 for fun. Thanks for great tips and love your attitude howls are nice
A technique I have been using for over 20 years is to print your design with a laser printer and with a soldering iron set between 120° and 130° (Celsius) iron the lines to transfer the toner onto the support.
Did one...and after all the prep work...I decided I'll never do it again. Ever. I'll stick to painting sculptures. Fk masking helmet ventilation holes, it's such a terrible task. I respect your perseverance man, I am in actual awe that you do this on a regular basis...I almost went mad during the masking process.
i love sketching graphics on all of my helmets. whether its a bicycle or motorcycle helmets. but one question that im always be thinking of, do i need to sand of after the first clear coating?
How well does the paint stick to the helmets? Do you NEED to clear coat over them? I have a matte black helmet that I want to sketch something onto with white paint pencils or paint pens, but I don’t want to clear coat over it. Would it be okay?
I've got a ridley x night and the paint has worn off to the undercoat in some places, think I'm going to try and spray it myself, any tips on best paint and spray gun to buy? I have a factory and compressors so I've got a good work space to do it. I will probably practice on an old bike I've got in the shed
Hi Martin Great stuff as always. I really enjoy the way you give so much knowledge away, all your jobs are incredible. Maybe you can help me find out the RAL colour of the Specialized Tarmac SL7 sand dust/gold, I'm trying to get that design for my new bike but couldn't find it. Thanks and keep the videos coming👌
Great job Martin! ❤ Why do you need to spray the final artwork made with the inktense pencils with an intercoat before the 2k clear? Is it since these pencils might react with the 2k clear?

Hi Martin, I really love your work and have been following it for quite some, it's also one of the reason why I tried painting my own bike :D Back then I did some mistakes but now I want to redeem myself. I would like to apply decals, rather a name and a logo on the bike, which are not too large. I wanted to ask you for advice on how I should approach adding the decals: 1. Should I paint them on the frame with a mask? 2. Should I get vinyl decals, stick them on the frame and paint with clear over it? I would test if the vinyl or adhesive would react with the paint though before putting clear on. Are there any shops and vinyls you can recommend for that? 3. Should I stick the decals on-top of the clear? If so, how can I protect them? I am looking forward to your answer!
1. That's how I paint my stuff. 2. Just do it if you think. Cheapest decals are found on Amazon, Ebay, Etsy... clear coat won't stick well on any kind of vinyl. 3. Just put protection vinyl on top if you want to protect the vinyl.
Hi. This looks awesome. 😀 I was wondering about the masking tape. In this video you recommend a special type but in other helmet painting videos you used a regular one. Can you please explain why the regular tape is not good anymore?
@@ETOE I'm thinking about doing a pen and ink / linocut style drawing on my helmet. Have you ever tried using Micron fineliner pens or anything like that?
Hey Martín, awesome job, as always. Do you have a link to buy the intercoat before the final clear, please? Can you explain to us, your followers, how to use tape? I mean the right use, colors. I see yellow tape, green tape, sometimes blue tape, an almost white tape .... Thanks a lot for sharing your work.
Spectacular workmanship, thousands of hours to learn your skills!

Please don't use heat irons or any kind of heat on these helmets. You can destroy them very easy.

the paintjob definitely pricier than the helmet. stunning work.
It really is
how do you get rid of fingerprints after painting with the pencil? You surely can not degrease the helmet after the graphics.
My fingers are etched by all those thinners and solvents over the years. I don't leave any fingerprints anymore.
