Edit: I could have really used your tutorial about swimming yesterday. I landed my ship on water and got out to use my drone. My drone kindly pushed me into the water and sank to the bottom of the lake. I didn't know you had to make sure your backpack jet was turned off and you had to select "0" zero to have nothing in your hands to swim up. Obvious solution wasn't obvious when I had little to no air... lol

Good tips as always. It's funny, even with ~2000 hours in this game I can still learn things from "beginners" tips. These I already knew, but it wasn't that long ago I figured out the use of the multitool to change the shading on windows. One other note there is it also works on the heavy glass windows, but not apparently on the newer fancy patterned heavy windows, whatever that block is called.
I like to do asteroid mining so I always end up with tons of extra stone. I've always got constructor(s) making ore from the stone - I never bother to mine/automine the "basic 3" (or now with carbon I suppose it's the basic 4) resources except for very early game. And early to mid game I always have a portable constructor making sniper rifles from stone. Selling those makes me more money than I need to buy the things I can't craft.
Stone Sniper Rifles? Sounds interesting! :D
@@Rakoona Well, stone to iron ore, to ingots, to steel plates & mechanical parts, to sniper rifles. But the portable constructors hold crazy amounts of materials so it's a place to store excess stone and make some pocket change while you're at it 😉

I honestly never used the rotate/move functions of the muti-tool and been doing the retrieve and place method, If that's also in RE mod i'll have to keep that in mind!
I've been mostly doing the same thing :)
FYI not sure on Vanilla but RE you can shoot a survival tool defense mode underwater.
Hmm, maybe! But this is a tutorial for Vanilla only. But thanks for the comment! :) And maybe it's the same also for Star Salvaged!

You can't shoot *any* weapon underwater? That's hardly realistic, and highly annoying.
But you don't engage enemies in the water really!
Eh, I had those weird tentacle-mouth things attack me while I was trying to mine promethium underwater. I had been under the impression that it was just your survival tool defense mode that didn't work underwater, but I didn't have another weapon with me at the time.
@@andrewtripp6837 I think other scenarios allow some weapons underwater. But not vanilla! You'd have to send your drone
