    Excellent video, guys! I remember hearing this portion during your livestream but it's great to have a standalone video for it. I'll be purchasing your beginner weightlifting program soon. Was wondering how current PBs are determined? I have all-time PBs, but with all the time I've spent away from the lifts and rebuilding strength, I want to "take things back to formula" if you know what I mean.
    Always love the content. SIKASTAN FOREVER! Thanks again!

    Aup lads, excellent vid. new weightlifter just starting out here. was wondering about the point that you made about amateur weightlifters being bad at everything. I imagine the technique part is hard to quantify but I was wondering at what kind of numbers (on the strength lifts) you would say someone graduates from bad to alright and then to good etc. For reference I weigh around 95 kilos

    When you're talking about these 'amateur weightlifters being bad at everything', what type of athlete are you refering to? Is it the beginner with an 80 s 100 cj @ 80 kg bodyweight or do similar principles apply to the 2-3 years of experience 110/140 type lifter as well? I am wondering because I still feel like I'm in the shit at everything camp, but training in a gym that mostly has high level powerlifters and not that many weightlifters I find it hard to reference myself and decide when it is time to move on to more intermediate style programming/periodization.
    Normally I would base this on rate of progression, so any lifter that can still increase there lifts by 5kgs every month would in my book still be a beginner, but I think in weightlifting the technical proficiency of the lifter (or lack thereof) would also play a roll in determining their overall skill level. Have you any thoughts on this?

      These numbers are pretty fictional lol the vast majority of ppl dabbeling in weightlifting never make it to 140kg clean

    • @pimbroersen6218
      @pimbroersen6218 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Cin9999 I have to politely disagree. Maybe for people that only ‘dabble in weightlifting’ as you say, 140 kg might be a difficult goal, but I think that an average somewhat athletic person who applies themselves seriously and trains specifically for weightlifting for 2-4 years can reach a 140 kg clean and jerk. It took me about 3 years of weightlifting, and while I did play a lot of sports as a kid and had powerlifted before switching to weightlifting I dont think other people couldnt do it as fast even if they are a complete beginner. Especially since I trained weightlifting like a doofus in the beginning and there was a large pandemic sized gap in the middle of my training

      @Cin9999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@pimbroersen6218 We know this to be false bc even elite cross fit athletes with 5+ years of oly lifting experience struggle with 140kg clean and jerk often lol

    • @pimbroersen6218
      @pimbroersen6218 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cin9999 crossfit=/=weightlifting, crossfit demands a more general athleticism so the athletes cant fully focus on their weightlifting maxes
      2nd: at the end of this training block im expected to hit 140 or more, ill upload a video by then and hopefully convince you that way
      Also, thanks for believing me to be super human, its a great ego boost on a rather mundane friday

      @@pimbroersen6218 140 c&j at what bodyweight? 140 at 80 kg is a lot more impressive and harder to attain than 140 at 100 for example. You have to factor that in when talking about "what the average person can do". The avg amateur weightlifter is probably between 80-90kg and I can assure you they won't be hitting 140kg clean and jerks in two years of serious training.

    It just baffles me whenever I see this sort of hobbyist/amateur or whatever you would call it, community and its main focus is on facebook, when everybody I know stopped using facebook like 10 years ago. Although many communities have also moved to discord in the last two years. Apparently facebook is where the gold nuggets are.
