When they were first swinging through the woods? It’s because miles is animated through oneswhile Peter b Parker was animated by on twos

@@o_0380 You're not wrong, but it's actually the other way around. Miles was animated "on twos", to give a sense of slowliness and choppy. While Peter was "on one", because he's more agile and experienced.
There is literally nothing wrong with this movie, like everything is perfect
But as cinemasins puts it:
“The logos are too long and boring”
Even though cinemawins (run by the same guy) says:
“These logos are really interesting and contribute to the plot”.
Turns out cinema sins and cinema wins are completely separate and I’m just stupid.

I am the last person to give a crap about animation styles, but I something about the contrast of characters, the misprinted (styled) scenes, and miles coming in and out of sync with the environment was something that I really noticed. Combine that with the pretty good plot and amazing soundtrack, I actually felt surprisingly emotional. (I've never felt emotional about a movie before).
I also watched the movie literally twice in a row with no breaks. Don't know why, I just thought it was so good I wanted to see it again.

when they cut back to the full-screen shot and blurred out mile's position while simultaneously clearing the caboose of the train, I instinctively turned my view to the train because of the strain that the effect had on my eyes. This movie is just so captivating.

I've been saying this since I saw the movie: THIS is direction animation should be headed. This movie showed us the possibilities for animation. This showed us how the genre could be pushed in new ways. This movie was a defining shift in the way animation is done, and I'm glad I was here to see it :)
Honestly I think what makes this special is that it's different. If every animation was like this they wouldn't be as special because it's no longer something new
@@cymberciara Except in recent years, animation has all started to look the same. Whether it's the CalArts style on TV or the hyper-realistic 3D movie style, it's not new and interesting anymore. I'm not saying every movie should look like Spiderverse, but that people shouldn't be afraid to explore what's possible in animation that's not possible in live action.

This movie really sets the gold standard for animated movies. It shows how people take an idea, innovate it, and adapt it. I *especially* love the concept of using simple line movements to make blunt areas look more detailed

This movie and Klaus are the way animation should try to be. Drawings coming to live in fun and cartoony, it's so much more pleasant than "realistic" 3D animations those are kinda scary
They used varying frame rates in the same shot to enhance character dynamics.... God a bloody adore this film!!!

Seriously hope this starts a new revolution of animation, in beautifully combining the 3d with the 2d.
and I seriously hope it won't do just that. It would mean they would start to copy this art style instead of the previous one until we would be sick of it as well... We would be much better off if they actually put as much thought into every animated movie like this one to make it as unique as possible.

It's pretty rare to find a perfect movie, rarer still to find one as technically innovative as it is tightly written, beautifully shot, and deeply acted. This is truly a special piece, and it's amazing to see the care they put into making it. I can't wait to see what these guys do next.

So I guess you've watched very few movies? The visuals of this movie are great and even somewhat groundbreaking in it's own niche genre, but... that's it. It's an average movie in every other regard. Go watch something by Kubrick or Kurosawa if you really want to soak yourself in all-around visionary filmmaking.

@@neelav2394 I loved that movie too, but I found the effect affected me in stages: novel amusement -> got used to it -> disorienting -> mild annoyance -> back to indifference. The constant movement of every pixel-brushstroke can be jarring.
The first time I saw the “leap of faith” scene, the part where it inverts and looks like he’s falling upwards, was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen in animation.
im not hating on either artstyles but this was literally the exact opposite of the soft and round style other animated movies like disney and pixar opts for and im loving it

julia howe It wouldnt be complete without the soundtrack and the dialogue, in my opinion. The comedy was a part of the movie that i loved almost as much as the artwork. And the soundtrack... now im not even into that kind of music but i actually thought it was perfect. The songs and the scenes just went hand in hand all the way to the end

This is the rare film that is honestly a perfect 10/10 for me. It's beautiful and distinct, it has a TON of characters without the story feeling messy or the characters feeling like they blend together, it's coherent, it's funny, and it's fresh. This is truly a modern classic.
Don't think I've laughed and cried with joy as much at any movie. Everything Everywhere maybe. About to see Across the Spiderverse and am so excited :D
This animated movie was just mind blowing, for the technique, the plot, the characters. You took the risk and came out victorious. I absolutely loved it!

You know speaking of comic books in this movie, the comics that were shown in Miles Universe it would've been better if they were the original Ultimate Spider-Man comics instead of them looking to much like the 616 comics.
@@joelcartagena953 Perhaps, but this world is inspired by classic Kirby Era comics. The halftones, the colouring "errors" and hand drawn frames all reflect that. It would have felt out of place with Bagley's sleek, angular spiderman and the modern colouring. Additionally if the comics in the world of spiderverse looked more realistic than the actual character designs, it would feel jarring and take us out of the movie.
@@springthyme501 well Miles Universe is the movie version of the Ultimate Marvel Universe. And like I said before the comics shown in the movie in Miles Universe look too similar to the 616 Marvel comics.

Yeah, it's amazing how great it looks, and I love how they just embraced all the comic book motifs. Action sounds, speech bubbles, even the way the comics were printed. Pure genius
WeGoBoom same, I did think the tones/textures reminded me of comic books but didn’t think much of it, but now I gained an appreciation for the style of the animation!

I love the "lack" of detail! The gaps in animation was a great idea! This is the "Akira" of the 2010's. There where so many things in this anime that multiple viewings are needed. This is a new classic. It will be archived.

I just watched the movie last night. My girlfriend and I couldn't get over how good the animation looked. One of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen.

I just think the relationship between Miles and his uncle wasn't developed enough, but that's pretty much my only flaw with it

BY FAR the best movie of 2018 and one of the greatest visuals and directing of all time, not to mention the best superhero movie of all time.

There's a poster of this scene. When I was studying the composition of it, all the buildings were hitting a focus point, and even the direction of Miles Morales were hitting it. That's true dedication on the movie

This video explain something not many people understand or even knows about: movies are made in "packs" and not necessary in the same order as what's shown. I really loved when they explains that the beginning of the movie was produced last because the soundtrack wasn't done yet.

My two favourite things that they incorporated into this film is the use of onomatopoeia to show sound as text and the hand drawn coloured frames like when Miles returns to the collider with his new suit,the frame transforms into a paintified frame

Spiderverse was the first animation since long ago, that was really fun to watch. I litteraly fell in love with it while watching it and this was mainly because of the animation and on top of that the storyline was humorous and played with the audiences expectations. Just a perfect movie.
Incredible production, the 2D/3D blend and character stylization makes this by far my favorite movie as an animator

This was an awesome movie all round. The bold, fresh approach to mix flashbacks to the printed comic days, with the latest animation techniques turned out insanely good. Even for those non-animators like me, you could clearly see it was on another level of expertise. Just when you thought it impossible for a fresh take on a character spun so many times (pun intended), they released a movie masterpiece on many levels.

The originality of this style of animation is off the charts, I want to see more of this
each and every single frames of this movie is a masterpiece, i hope they produce more movies with these type of animation style and can't wait for across the spider verse

Every award given to this movie was totally deserved. A masterpiece of the animated arts.
I love how they animated Gwen's New York at the end when she is back in her dimension. Felt poppy and daydream like.
