    I have a carbon Ripmo, bought my wife a Ripley AF this fall. I'm really stoked on how great my wife's bike is. While I am in a great MTB town in the Pacific Northwest, I could ride all of the trails here on the Ripley just fine.
    Also, I'd never think to mountain bike in Florida, but those trails look awesome!

      That is awesome! yeah Florida will surprise you. They build the trails in old phosphate mining locations

    Had the Ripmo v2 last year for 2 weeks and sold it. I don’t like the Ibis carbon… I kept my Ripley AF instead because of how it rides. I have a pretty unique Ripley AF though at 27.5 lbs with Berd Hawk 27 wheels. 👌
    I did like the Ripmo AF over the carbon. Ride quality on Ibis’s aluminum frames are nice especially for lighter riders.

    Honestly going to a few bike demos was great for me. I was originally set on the Ripley for the playful feel, but then I sat on the Exie and man that thing was a rocket. It really blew me away with how capable it was on the downs too. It handles a ton with 120mm of travel. Bought one a few days later.
    I love the attention to detail on the Ibis’ at a relatively reasonable price point for what you’re getting.

      Yeah these shorter travel bikes punch! Love it. I do need to get on more demo rides

    I was on the opposite end. I have a shorter travel Norco Fluid FS (2021) that I modded to the 9s. It's super fun, fast, and playful but does beat me up a bit. I got a 2023 Alchemy Arktos 140 and holy hell what a difference in ride. The bike just inspires confidence and takes everything I throw at it with ease. It's quite a bit heavier than the Norco so climbs are a bit more slow (but not by much). But everywhere else the Arktos is a beast. Like you, we have a couple different bikes for different occasions. Who doesn't love an n+1? Oh, and it's great to see a regular guy having fun on his bike. Kudos.

    Kinda stuck in that dilemma right now too. I have a 150/150 Jeffsy and it's great, but I don't ride up in the Poconos and don't ride park. Most of my riding is South Jersey or Greater Philly undulating terrain. Ripley AF is high up on my list, especially with all these sales going on.

    Tbh im in a similar position to you, bought the ripmo as my one bike to do it all and have loved it for the past couple months (400+ miles of trail riding completed so far) i bought it to be capable for here in fl, but also to take on trips to jarrods place, kanuga, dupont, windrock, bryce bike park etc. While I've gotten used to the weight of the ripmo and enjoy what it brings to the table i cant help but think that the ripley might have been the right choice. Oh well, swapped my carbon wheels and lighter tires on there for FL trails and have noticed a marked improvement in handling and overall fun. In a couple years when my next new bike day comes along I'll probably just cave and buy an ebike and save the ripmo for when i hot those bike parks up north.

    • @rywanders
      @rywanders  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah if you plan to ride Florida mostly, everyone is moving to e-bikes and it makes sense for here. The ripmo is still a great bike and yeah you’ll get used to the weight like you said. It just felt wrong, but worked out in the end. We need to ride sometime.

    • @BrandonWatkins614
      @BrandonWatkins614 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @rywanders i agree, think the ripley or something thereabouts is the right bike for these trails here. Only thing with ebikes for me is the weight. 45+lbs is a lot to sling around. Maybe a mid-power ebike is roght for me, definitely have some test riding to do.

    The 36 really adds a ton capability to the ripley. I rode the ripley for a couple seasons before moving on to the ripmo. I wouldn't say I regretted selling the ripley, but I easily could have gotten it closer to my ideal with a 36.... though I wish the frame was more quite a bit more progressive.

      The Ridley is poppy and playful. The Ripmo is a bit heavy and slower to respond, but I feel would be a great bike if your riding in the mountains. Depends on what trails you’ll ride most. If you’re not hitting big jumps or super steep terrain I’d go Ripley all day.
