I really respect the fact that you aren't a fanboy for any particular brand. You've declared "Meh!" when some Yeti models have left you unimpressed, and you're willing to speak honestly when a Yeti finally dethrones your beloved Ripmo. That's credibility folks 👍
I just want to ride the best bikes available. I still love the Ripmo and would be happy to have it be my longer travel bike this season (all be it with a Fox 36 and Float X shock) but why.... the Yeti is slightly better and I'm always on the hunt for the best bike available! that said, I do prefer the Ibis brand better and if these two bike really were a little closer, I'd go for the Ripmo just because of the dw link and brand but it's just not the case in my experience... it's worth stepping out of the "brand identity, loyalty or bias" in an effort to ride THE BEST!!
@@mtbyumyum I totally understand why you hold Ibis bikes in such high regard - and it's all the more credible and meaningful when you are willing to share that you think the competition might suddenly have the edge over them... For now ;-)
If I can ask, which tires and size have you been running on your Ripmo lately? I remember when you did a 2.3 experiment several years ago. Not sure where you are with tires these days. I'm a bigger guy (but not a super aggressive rider) and think I am underbiked with my Specialized Epic Evo... I am wondering if I'd be happier on a Ripley or Ripmo but when I demo'd both of them I was kinda bummed out by the stock heavy/slow wheel and tire setups. Wondering if getting a beefier bike but lightening up the wheel and tire combo might be my ticket to success.
How would you compare these bikes to a pivot switchblade?
Yeah, I've been frustrated with Ibis's choice in tires... I remember when I first demo'd the Mojo 4 with 2.5 Assegai tires front and rear... so frustrating. I've been spending a lot of time on the 2.4 Rekon front and rear and really really like them a lot! For rougher terrain or when I need more protection I go with DHR II front and rear or DHF up front... Good luck!

Would love to see how the sb160 stacks up on the really rough stuff. I got a stumpy evo setup with the OEM mullet link and I still prefer to jack up shock pressures and run my Epic everywhere I can.
Can’t balance the compression ratio for medium bump and bottom out resistance on the stumpy. I hear that might be a problem with the fsr design and that Santa Cruz has worked hard on that, but then I’m always looking at ibis, yeti, and pivot. LBS just got norco too. Sooo many options it’s awesome but man the decisions are harder 😂
Yeah, I've been struggling a bit with my SJ evo too... not bad, just when I think I've landed on a good spot I take the sb140 out and realize the SJ evo is just not there so I start tinkering again lol. I still really like that bike and plan to film and upload an evo vs 140 video soon. I'll be riding the sb160 a week from today with a good friend who is an excellent rider and local mtb coach! I'll be filming then as well!! Thanks for the kind words and sorry, no live stream this week... maybe I'll be up to it again soon. I really wish I could do a live after ever bike review but it honestly takes a lot out of me... sort of drains me for some reason. Maybe a bit of anxiety or who know what... just takes a lot of my energy. Thanks!

A couple of other things worth a mention. The Ripmo is doing well for a relatively older design and it’s lighter and a good amount less expensive. Well done Ibis.
The Yeti looks better - no question - and that Sangria color is so rich. The biggest difference I notice in that SI suspension is the suppleness in the first 25% of the travel. It’s just more compliant and seems smoother, making for a little more traction and less fatigue.

Glad you pointed out the sizing on the SB140. My wife is 5'0 and has SB140 in xs. Comes with 27.5 wheels. She tried a bunch of bikes. 29ers, mullets, 27.5. She loves that SB140. Will probably take it to the grave.

Glad to see you enjoying the 140. I was in the market for a new bike earlier this year and was torn between these 2 bikes. Ended up getting the SB140LR in Sangria about 9 weeks ago. Been in love with the bike since the first ride. No regrets here.
No regrets is right! I just rode mine again this morning on some jump line trails and a more chunky trail. Eats everything up and just so easy and fun to ride.
@mtbyumyum what Enve wheels are you running or would you recommend? Thinking about splurging a little for my upcoming birthday.
These are the M6 30's and although they're good, I prefer the wheels I rode on my Ripley. Salt Cycles custom carbon wheels. They're significantly lighter weight, easier to service and overall just feel better. Call Chris and see what he can do for you... 801-943-8502 you can also customize them with color and your preferred hubs. I personally prefer DT Swiss 240's. I also have a set of Salt Cycles wheels with DT Swiss 180 hubs but they're spendy and not sure it's any better than the 240's. Good luck and happy birthday!!

Hey Jason, you're doing a great job with your reviews. I own a Revel Rascal (of course I watched you're reviews on it). It's a fantastic bike, but I find myself missing a little bit of more travel, although the Rascal punches above its weight class, and I ride it with a 150mm fork and a slightly overstroked rear shock (145mm). How would you compare the Rascal to the Ripmo? Thanks for your videos and Greetings from Switzerland
Both these bikes have very similar geo/wheelbase and both come with the 160mm Fox fork, so I wouldn't expect much difference. Most major bike brands now have very sorted rear suspensions so I wouldn't expect that to make much of a difference. I ride the very similar Stumpy EVO set up with similar geo/travel and I bet it performs about the same as these bikes. Across the board, most bikes have gotten so good that bikes with similar geo and travel perform very much alike. In general, I find that bikes with a 77* STA and 65* HTA have the sweet spot and make great all around Trailbikes.
Mark, you're not wrong and I've been spending a lot of time on the SJ evo the past 3 weeks... check my strava: www.strava.com/athletes/2904628 riding it back and forth with this SB140, Ripmo and regular Stumpjumper... the best thing the SJ evo has going for it in my experience is it's sizing. The fit for me is excellent and overall feels like the most "at home" bike I have right now... incredibly balanced bike that jumps well, dips into corners well and just feels "right" That said, the suspension can drag a big or get hung up compared to the Stumpjumper, sb140 and Ripmo... it doesn't climb as well and the rear end is a bit touchy... even small adjustments to psi or rebound really change the bike and I'm having a hard time nailing down the right place between poppy and planted. I'll get it just right and really like it then the next day I'll ride the SB140 and the SJ evo feels sort of meh... Video coming soon!!
@@mtbyumyum Can't wait to see your review/comparison! I like my Stumpy EVO Expert because I can adjust the geo however I want and it just has this incredible ability to hold a line even in the loosest conditions and I'm running the 2.6 Rekon front and 2.6 Ikon rear; not the grippiest tires. All I have to do is just center my weight and the bike just stays so composed through tight, loose turns and rough trail. With the geo adjust, I'm using the steepest head angle and the low bottom bracket; no problem with pedal strikes. My geo comes out similar to the Rocky Mountain Element and with the light fast-rolling tires, I think of my bike as a long-travel Downcountry bike. I keep the suspension set up on the more active or softer side and it just seems to always find traction on both steep climbs and loose turns. And, when I get on some straighter trail, all that travel lets me put the hammer down. The faster I go, the better the bike gets. The sb140 or Ripley might do it better but the Stumpy Evo is still pretty darn good. In addition, I got a 25% off deal and got the $6300 Expert for $4700. Definitely, the best bike I have ever owned. Just a few years ago, I don't think any bikes were this good.
Yeah, the pricing Big S has right now on evo's is very attractive. That's what got me to buy one... to good to not try out long term. I really like my initial ride on the evo more than a year ago and was excited to spend more time on it. It's been a great bike and I really like the Butcher and Eliminator tires...
Both perform so well that it comes down to looks in the end...Hands down the yeti
Actually!! That floats my boat. There are some bikes that are both just so good. The deciding factor could be brand loyalty or color. Nothing wrong with that!
Personally I have always felt yetis feel the best out of any bike in the initial stroke but DW Link (I ride a Firebird) just feels way more supportive on successive hits, and has an overall way more playful feel.
Sweet vid. I have been on a medium Yeti SB130LR for 3 years. I’m 5’10. It has been super fun, however I have it up for sell. Want to try large Ripmo or Hightower. 5’10 guys are in between on Yetis.
It's the weirdest thing that people your size have such a hard time finding the right fit because I would say the average size of most Americans at least are probably 5'10" haha I have 2 brother that are both 5'10", my father in law and 3 brother in laws are all 5'10" you would think that would have been the starting point for a large or medium bike and then the manufactured would go larger and smaller from there... lol

Hi! Great choice! Will be cool know if you can tweak the rear shock to jave 150mm, some bikes-shocks can get this extra mm that many times no change a lot the geo amd the ride in easy terrain

Mitch, I am on a sb160. Thinking going for sb140 instead, if it really out climbs the sb160 by much since I feel the sb160 climbs well and decents super nice. But still, maybe sb140 will be more fun, more plaufull and better for climbs. What do you think?

I was just thinking, I bought an Ibis HD 5 about 3 years ago…was an insurance claim money since I had a bike stolen…it was around 4400, I think you can’t get a carbon ibis for even close to that now. My how times have changed just in 3 years! The bikes nowadays are all capable though for sure.
Did you ever compare the sb140 with a Ripmo on a 170 fork? Also have you tried the rip with a coil shock? Wondering where you're getting the chatter

I've spend laterally thousands of miles on both the Ibis and ENVE wheels... I don't think it was a factor and they actually weight almost the exact same amount. Thanks!
How do you rank the ripmo to evo? Which is your all rounder bike with fun factor?
I have owned the SB130, Ripmo, and Switchblade. I now have the new SB140LR. It climbs better than the Ripmo and Switchblade, its more efficient when pedaling, and it descends better! It took me a few rides to adjust but then WOW!!! Now I can't get enough of this bike!

I prefer the Salt Cycles wheels… the only bike I have Salts “yumyum” wheels on is my Ibis Exie… I would call Chris and see what kind of deal he has on the “yumyum” wheels… I know he was doing a deal on them at the beginning of this season! 801-943-8502 🤘🤙 I just got a special deal on these enve wheels and these days with as much money as I have in bikes I need to take any deal I can get…
That Sentinel Jab hurts my heart. 😢 Love my Sentinel. It definitely is a long bike though. I’m a medium though so not as bad. If I was a large i would have had a much tougher decision. I have noticed that if you aren’t good or balanced on tech climbs the front could get away from you. It’s definitely a bike for those more advanced. The downhill though is what it’s made for. Nothing better 🤤imo.
haha sorry... wasn't trying to pick on any one bike but when I got to this section in the edit I thought I would grab a Megatower photo real quick then I started thinking about a bike in the same category as these two bikes that felt like a bigger sled of a bike and it's the Sentinel so.... that's the photo I grabbed. The Sentinel is fine, it just punches above it's weight in terms of what it does on the trail compared to other bikes with similar suspension travel. I don't agree that the Sentinel takes a more advanced rider.... it just takes a higher speed to get the bike to have any fun. Truth be told, the Ibis Exie takes a more advanced rider.
@@mtbyumyum Totally good. I knew the bike I was getting when I bought. Absolutely love it and it really excels at high speeds downhill. I would love to get on a Smuggler though. If it's the between (Spur and Sentinel) then that would be a real treat. I just need more bikes is all. :) Great video keep it up. I like that it had more trail shots.

Man, I have a sb160 as my only ike (comming from 150) and wondering how much fun would the 140 be on not so heavy trails I regularly do aside from some enduro, jumps and drops. I've never hit that jump. I worry I don't have enough speed every time... There is a small drop, maybe 3 feet, just before it and for whatever reason I don't feel like I can get in a few pedal strokes to get my speed up... maybe if I hit the drop with more speed I guess...
I am looking to move on from my Ripmo this year, but am looking to probably move into a full enduro bike (probably a 160/170 bike) because I also want a coil on my next bike and at my weight (250lbs) I need the leverage ratio of the bigger bike to get coils to play nice and run less than a 700lb spring.

How does is compare to the Switchblade?
Great video, I have an Ibis Ripmo V2 with the same suspension. Float X in the back (Float X2 that came on the bike blew out after 2 rides) and a Fox 38 in the front. I was wondering how does the 36 and 38 differ on the Ripmo in terms of ride quality? I'm considering sizing down to 36 to save some weight since I do a good amount of climbing and the small bump compliance isn't great. I ride pretty aggressively on the downhill, but not sure if it's enough to justify keeping the 38.
I had a Fox 38 on my Firebird last season and for me.... meh. I don't think it did anything better for me and was maybe a bit harsh. Again, your experience might be different. I prefer the fox 36
@@mtbyumyum Thanks for the insight, yeah I've noticed the 38 is harsh off the top and it needs big hits to really get it moving, which is great for hard enduro/park, but not so much for regular trail riding. If I find a good deal on a takeoff 36 I'll probably jump on that.

Road Zen on my Ripmo VS2 last weekend but didn’t hit Barrel - will have to check that out next trip.
For about $7k total, would you take a Yeti SB140 LR with non-TURQ carbon, GX group set , Fox Performance 36, Fox Performance Float X, and the heavy stock wheelset or an Ibis Ripmo XT build with Fox Factory 38, Fox Factory Float X, Carbon Racface cranks, and Elite Wheels Carbon Pro36 wheelset with DTSwiss 350 hubs? I am guessing with those builds the Ripmo is going to be about three pounds lighter. Fantastic channel, awesome content!

Hey Jason, great comparison! I am curious, could you feel the weight difference between the bikes? Your Yeti weighs 30 pounds (without pedals) and your previous Ripmo weighed 28 pounds 2 ounces (without pedals). Could you tell the difference? Would it make a difference on longer rides? Thanks.
That's one of the interesting things about this sb140, it feel lighter than the Ripmo when riding... it's crazy
As a Ripmo owner, the Ripmo's happy place is a black rated flow trail. It likes to pump, it likes to jump, it doesn't mind big hits or big compressions. What the Ripmo doesn't like is tech, especially chattery tech, it will do endurobro things but it will punish you in fast tech. The Ripmo also has a very vague front end and it's hard to tell what the bike is doing through corners, dropping the bars a couple spacers helps, but only so much. The Ripmo has probably reached the point where it needs an update. That being said the Ripmo is still an incredible tech climber.

Putting a coil on the Ripmo really balances some of that out on the chattery janky stuff. I have a feeling, after Ibis releases the enduro bike, then the Ripley gets an update, then the Ripmo. Just considering how they were released. Not sure how they improve the Ripley or that it needs anything because its so good, but I'm sure they'll find a way.
@@travelthenarrowtrail8660 That's definitely an option for a lighter rider. I know typically the recommendation is for coil Ripmo is cascade link if you're over 180lbs and don't run a coil if you're much over 220lbs. I'm running cascade link + DVO Topaz myself and am in that over 220lb club. I do want a coil on my next bike, but to get it to play nice I have to pay particular attention to leverage ratios so I don't end up needing a 700lb spring.
@@travelthenarrowtrail8660 And I would add that the cascade link does help with the chatter a bit too as it softens the progression off the top a hair.
You still loving the S140 over the Ripmo? Love the looks of the SB140 but can get a second hand Ripmo frame so cheap now. Which would you say is the more versatile bike.

I've had a few days on the Revel Rail 29 this week... I'll get one more week of riding and maybe publish a video in like 2 weeks... in short, I'd pick the 140

You usually comment on the weight of the test bikes. The 140 is a heavy bike. Thoughts? BTW I’m a yeti super fan. Surprised that you concluded the 140 to be the preferred bike for you as you always choose ibis
Yeah, I forgot... my sb140 is 30 lbs 3 oz as you see it. And that's me basically throwing all the money at it... I can build a Ripmo with the same parts in the 28.5 lbs range... good point. That said, the sb140 fly's up the trail... no complaints there and the new current V4s updated Ripmo is heavier than the Ripmo I used in this test.... after the updated rear triangle including ud and more rubber pritection

What are your thoughts on the Trek Fuel ex 7 gen 6 (for $3054) with tax, and the trek fuel ex 5 gen 5 for (for $2127) WT. I live in a pretty flat area but I would still want to bring the bike to some more advanced stuff in the future. The ripmo is also now a competitor too. Idk if I should get a cheaper one now and then get a bike that’s more tune to my riding in the future. Any advice.
My advise is always to buy the nicest bike you can afford. I've given this advise to people about skiing for years... I live in Utah with incredible winter snow skiing and I meet people who live here and have skied one time and never went back... the story is almost always the same. They had crappy gear, were uncomfortable and cold and their equipment was janky... If you buy the right gear (best you can afford) you will have a better time, go more often and create a life long sport that will be to your benefit well into your 70's or 80's. So.... I would buy the nicest bike you can afford. I would not go into debt for a bike but if it take another month or two to save up and get the right bike, do it!!

@@mtbyumyum That’s true . My old high school buddy is an eye doctor with his own private practice aand his wife is a licensed drug dealer aka Pharmacist. He rides an old ass ibis Mojo HD. He tells me he can’t afford a new bike because it’s too expense. 3 weeks later when I come to his house to pick up tot hit the trail, I see a 170k 2022 Acura NSX in his garage. I said “dude you don’t have 7k for a bike , but you have 170k for a sports car? WTF dude!! 😂

You know i was in the market for a trail bike say 3 years ago. I rode MANY bikes in search of “the one” my conclusion was that the sb130 was “the best” but I decided to buy a ripley because the yeti was like maybe $1,000 more than the ibis. The weird thing is now when i ride the ripley and sb130 back to back i prefer the ibis💁 and my current “king of the trail” is tied between the ripley and the ripmo/ i will say that my ripley has BERD spokes and i feel that gives it an unfair adantage when comparing to other rigs with ancient steel spokes😉
Berd spokes are a game changer for those that are will to pay. I'm on my second season with them and although I was super skeptical at first, I'm all in now!! Salt asked me to produce a video about them over a year ago and I just wasn't willing to do it. I plan on making a video about Berd spokes this summer. I love mine!!
@@mtbyumyum You’re my brother from another mother, I too was not willing to recommend them to friends untill i had run them through the ringer/ but after 2 years of pure hell on my bike, i’d recommend them to anyone, i agree that they are pricey. But i feel that of all the things we spend so much money on, this particular item is well worth it and noticeable/ if i had a catastrophic failure today, i’d build my next wheelset with BERDS again

Very well done here Jason. While the Ripmo has more travel, it's only .27 inches. Not a whole lot more. Now it will be interesting to see how the new Ibis enduro bike will do against the SB160. Oh yeah, you know its coming right, in June? Ask salt cycles, I'm pretty sure they know. I've been on a Ripmo about as long as you and impressed the 140 was as good as you said. I thought it would be closer to the 130LR character but I stand corrected. It will be interesting to see if the new Ibis will continue with that playful poppy feel and good climbing ability. Or will they have it become more traction based, holding lines type of rig?

Absolutely waiting for this. Unsure if the new Ibis will be MX only (see Pinkbike) or full 29. It would seem as somewhat of a departure if it’s MX. The SB160 looks mint, considering one coming from a Ripmo.

Wonder how this would compare to the Transition Smuggler? Not sure if that’s the correct comparison; HTA is the same but the 140 has more travel. 🤷♂️ that Yeti is pretty!
Yeah, I’ve had a lot of request for the smuggler. I think it would be a good comparison as the sentinel feels like a longer travel bike than it is.
@@mtbyumyum not surprised. I just finished building my smuggler, and it def feels like a class up from the Ripley. Only ridden the Ripmo V1 but they feel comparable travel/capability wise.
The original Ripmo is any excellent trail bike even buy todays standards. Excited to get a ride on the Smuggle at some point. Congrats on your build
Can't believe Ibis specs those Ripmos with X2's and 38's
Dude, I could go on the biggest rant about this.... so frustrating! Because Ibis hasn't taken the time to make a proper "enduro race bike" they slapped a 38/x2 on this bike to fit the "market" and compete with other brands that have big bikes.... and completely destroy the essence of this Ripmo in my experience. Pivot - Switchblade/Firebird Santa Cruz - Hightower/Megatower Evil - Offering/Wreckoning Specialized - SJ evo/Enduro Transition - Sentinel/Spire Yeti - SB140 LR/SB160 .... and the list goes on. IBIS SHOULD KEEP THE RIPMO RIGHT WHERE IT IS.... so it can compete with the Switchblade, Hightower, Offering, SJ evo, Sentinel and this SB140 LR and take the time to be intentional and introduce a proper big bike to compete with the other long travel 29ers out there.... I could go on and on about this... really annoying Ibis...

I like my Ripmo with a 38 🤣 y'all are trippin. Perfect fork for park days and drops and jumps and chunk. The rear end is what needs a coil, it hops around way too much with an air shock even an X2.

I wouldn't necessarily get hung up and what bike goes down hill better than the other. All 3 bikes go down hill very well.... they just do it different. I prefer the sb140

I know this would be difficult to quantify, but how much better is the SB140 over the Ripmo. Planning on picking one up. The sb140 is about 1.5k more expensive, wondering if it's worth it or not.
They're very close... the yeti is marginally better... if money is tight, the ripmo will be an excellent bike for you!! That said, I prefer the ripmo with a fox 36 fork and float x shock...

If you don't mind sharing, what was the cost of that custom build ? I would argue that if you put the same amount of money you spent on that custom build SB140 into the Ripmo or STEVO, the comparison is much closer. Seems like that should be part of the conversation to be fair.
These bikes are very similar in terms of build... in fact the weight was within 3 ounces of each other and none of the build differences would make a difference in what stood out in my comparison experience...
The 140 is 7 grand for a gx/Fox performance build. If it's that close between them the ripmo probably wins just on that. And the ripmo is light
Excellent point! I forgot to touch on that... the Ripmo was an xt build with ibis carbon wheels and was just under 30 lbs. The SB140 was built to the nine's and just over 30 lbs... bang for your buck, the SJ evo is a deal right now and I would still take the Ripmo dollar for dollar! All this said, the 140 is the best of the bunch regardless of money.
I have a V-2 Ripmo w/ full XT, and I have had a lot of shifting issues. I spoke with Ibis directly and they basically tell me to pound sand, and make all kinds of excuses. I’m just wondering if you have had any issues with your bike. They have modified the rear chainstay three times and the V-2S has it finally in the correct position to run a Shimano derailleur. But they won’t admit that. I can tell you the whole story, but it would read like a bad book.😂
Interesting. This is the first I've heard of this. I've been running shimano stuff on Ibis bikes for thousands of miles over the last 3 years. Ripley, Exie and Ripmo... my wife has a Mojo4 with XT group and no problems. I hate to even ask but are you lubing your chain? I've put some grease in the rear mech but that's the only problem I've run into and the shifter dies after about 1,000-1,200 miles without fail... lol

I think the first two versions were designed with a SRAM derailleur in mind because the port lines directly up with the derailleur. The new one come from the top and allows a housing loop for a Shimano set up. Also the housing gets worked or pulled forward as the suspension activates and if it becomes clogged in the sleeve in that position it kinks the cable and the shifting goes to 💩. It took me almost an hour to slowly work a stuck housing out of the sleeve it was that clogged. I asked if I could purchase the V2s rear triangle for two reasons, and was told while compatible they had no intentions of providing one for sale. If you heard all the double speak I did at Seaotter it would make your head spin. Why they would not allow a customer to upgrade their frame is beyond me. I think it a huge customer relations problem.

P.S. my friend has the V1 version, I have the V2 version right before the new release of the V2S. So I am able to directly compare them.
Woah, if you think the sentinel is boring on Zen and Barrel…I’m speechless. Try it again. Maybe it’s a bit long for some of the slow twisties, but boring, NO WAY!
That said, I’ve narrowed it down to the SB 140LR and the Hightower3 for my next ride. What stem are you running on the 140? Factory build is 50mm…add that to a 480 mm reach (size L) and a lowish stack height, I’m not sure it’ll fit me perfectly (even with a 40mm stem). The HT3 is squarely in my sweet spot for fit & posture.

I think the Ripmo is way better. My son rides the AF custom built with DVO coil suspension and we love that bike. The value is great too. But the color on the Yeti I love and I still would buy it.

@@mtbyumyum well brother to be honest it is the value and the spec you get on the AF. The DW link is so nice and is a bike park destroyer but climbs like a goat. I will demo the 140 and try it. It is stunning that one you have.
Not trying to hassle you on this... I just hear this A LOT... everyone really likes their bike. In fact, they LOVE IT and it's THE BEST BIKE EVER!! Nothing wrong with that but most people haven't ridden many bikes and we all want to believe we made a good choice on the purchase we've made... That said, I too love the Ripmo and thinks it's among the very best values available right now at a lower price point than the SB140

Lower the stack on the Yeti by 5mm and see if the front wheel stays more stable on steep climbs.

@@mtbyumyum I just picked up a Ripmo with a 760mm bar, 40mm stem and what looks to be a very tiny spacer. In just one ride I could feel discomfort in my upper traps, so trying to learn what the magic recipe is.
Hands down 140 wins in the looks department and that all we care about lol

One thing I will say (for me) is that I don't ride as fast as you do so my v1 Ripmo never really feels twitchy. Also, I have had to do ZERO maintenance on the pivot/link on it and I am in the wet part of the PNW. I don't think that the infinity link in the Yeti would be quite as worry-free as that from what I have heard.

I have the SB120 and Stumpjumper for sale right now... yeah, the sb140 is really very good and I have an Ibis Exie right now... so spending time on 120mm bikes sort of feels like no mans land for me. The Exie is so freaking good and feels like a rocket compared to the SB120 or Stumpy. I've got a video coming soon on the Exie.

I have the same tires on my SB140LR as my previous Ripmo. The SB140LR is still a better climber and more efficient when pedaling... It just does everything better!
I swapped tires multiple times... the only tires that made any real difference were the Rekons...
Feel is so subjective. Time the bikes against each other or your Strava times.
I've seen other publication do timed efforts and it's not as reliable as you might think... unless you have a power meter on the bikes... wind, trail condition, traffic... It's tough for sure.

This is one I disagree with due to a huge difference, a 36 on the yeti vs the 38 on the IBIS. 100% of the subtle differences and even more could be due to the fork. Put a 38 on the Yeti and you'd feel it, Especially on the climb.
It's almost like comparing an enduro bike to a trail bike.
I’ve been saying this for over a year now… the Ibis Ripmo was much better with a Fox 36 and Float X shock… they threw a bigger fork and shock on the Ripmo and called it enduro😆🤦🏻♂️
@@mtbyumyum Agree. I think IBIS got lazy and instead of making an actual Enduro bike they just threw a bigger fork on the ripmo to try to bridge the gap between trail and Enduro to capture that market.
Huge mistake on their part, I'm glad I got mine before they changed out the fork.
Now one of the best bikes ever is kind of a "Tweener" 😁
