I think it has less to do with him having more talent, and more to do with him having more artistic vision than average, and enough talent to realize that vision without needing to bring along others who will stifle that vision
You had the same thought? Making it look like Claymation and an old space anime that was during the time of Captain Harlock while keeping the worthikids artstyle somehow. The humor is also a perfect blend of that era and their own. Some real talent here.
I love the annoyed look on the astronaut as Yajima proclaims the biker as her archrival and dismisses Zoga. It’s the little details that make your animations shine.
The slight hair shifts between frames, the weird random little light blips that I never understood, & by gods the fucking *_LIGHTING_* I literally can’t force my brain to see this as anything other than old school claymation/stop motion it’s beyond incredible
I can't even understand how he did it, _and I mess with blender_ For the animation, I guess he could use some really choppy, stepped interpolation, and the faces are easy enough to change with shape keys, again with a constant interpolation. But the lighting is too good even for blender, those materials are absolutely spot on, and as you said, animating the hair just slightly on each frame would be pretty amazingly time consuming, I have no idea how to automate that. And then the composition of the shots, somehow making it look all blurry and low resolution like a true, vintage claymation show. The compositing alone makes my head spin
@@potaterjim The only "flaw" I can see is the lack of some of the common flaws with claymation like seeing the actual modeling tracks of their fingers on the clay, they're almost too perfect, but that was something they managed to arrive to in claymation over time themselves, so it's not a given.

First, he drew. Then, he blended some Blender into his drawing. Finally, he became good enough at Blender to go beyond. Learning things separately from one another is always worse than using everything together in projects.
@@manny27392 Agreed. Integration and generalization are what humans are best at, yet we've fallen for a lie of specialization. I love the annoyed look on the astronaut as Yajima proclaims the biker as her archrival and dismisses Zoga. It’s the little details that make your animations shine.

The slight hair shifts between frames, the weird random little light blips that I never understood, & by gods the fucking *_LIGHTING_*
I literally can’t force my brain to see this as anything other than old school claymation/stop motion it’s beyond incredible
I can't even understand how he did it, _and I mess with blender_
For the animation, I guess he could use some really choppy, stepped interpolation, and the faces are easy enough to change with shape keys, again with a constant interpolation.
@@potaterjim I think this is actually animated one stop motion frame at a time

It’s crazy how even though this is an entirely different medium than you usually do it is still immediately obvious that it’s your style by looking at the faces
I still can't believe this isn't actually stop motion
It's.... It's still Blender.
I could be wrong but I think I heard this from a video worthi made? That his 2D animation is basically rotoscoped 3D models they made on blender
Worthi has been using Blender in videos for years though. Hell, BigTop Burger was entirely Blender.

I’d prefer to see them as friends, or as I said sisterly rivals.
Also I was referring to it in a trope context not in the context of the video itself. If they really were dating I don’t think I’d be as interested as I’m not Interested in romantic comedy. I was thinking of it more from the perspective of a show for kids where the villain and protagonist are written as though they are two twin sisters role playing cause I think that would be an interesting concept for a sci fi show. .
