    I would have thought the MOW crew would have alerted them. Also surprised the trains were going that fast past an active crew

    That was a welders truck in the distance. The railroads have to periodically build up the wear points on switches and crossings. Just like anything else the more you use it the more it wears out.

    Great video Steve. I would think the defect detection will pick it up.. but he wasn't stopping. Soo I'm not sure. 4 trains same crossing all within a few minutes, pretty lucky! Yeah, definitely need your scanner.

    My uncle once got a semi to pull over when the driver of the truck got out he was mad and yelling and my uncle told him to go look at your straps and when he went back there most of his straps on his load were loose and he thanked my uncle

    I believe that MOW is welding on the crossover probably the points they probably worn down and need to be builded up.

    Locomotives have to make noise when approaching and passing MOW crews. That’s probably what they were doing.

    Yeah I would've immediately called the local railroad crew and informed them so they could let the conductor know. Maybe it's not an issue but knowledge helps prevent problems.

    Hammer Down is for Truck term Highball is for Train term... Also when MOW is working on any rail the Engineer must blow the Horn when passing MOW Crew member's for safety...

    Red over flashing green - approach diverging. As you can see down the line, the second train took the crossover and continued at track speed beyond that point.

    Hi FSC! Looks like thermite welding which is an chemical reaction that causes sparks and it's used for quick track repair. =^.^=

    I'd probably would have let it be, Knowing that the defect detector will catch it and I'm sure it's a couple miles down the track. Also that rail crew that was working down there with the sparks I know they saw it and definitely radio it in because while they're not Tending to the tracks I know it's a good idea to watch the train go by and call things out over the radio that should be replaced et cetera Also look for stuck breaks

    Actually they were whistling as they passed MOW. Per GCOR Rule we're supposed to give continuous short horn bursts when passing men and equipment...kinda like this "o-o-o-o" until we're clear of them.

    At every grade crossing, there is a blue sign posted with the phone number to call if you see problems at the crossing. The dragging equipment would have been a good item to call in. Yes, the dragging equipment detector will get it, but who knows what, if any, damage may be caused between this location and the next detector.

  • @Spencerlovestrains25
    @Spencerlovestrains25 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, there's a detector about 3 miles west of there, so it should've caught it.

    looks like a uncoupling handle disconnected from the coupler, fell into the gauge, and promptly got bent up into that position, above the ground. soon it will be dragging.
