My mom would have said you shouldn't hang out with people who get the cops called on them.. But I'm really not that bad! LMAO.. Great to meet you and it was fun!
There is an active steam locomotive in strasburg, pa. It generally shows up daily on virtual rail fan (the strasburg cam). It has passenger rail cars attached to it, so that people can get the experience of riding a steam powered locomotive train.
I thought I was the record holder! I can go in the middle of nowhere with no sign of any kind of life for as far as the eye could see in any direction just to enjoy a little history and in 5 minutes, law enforcement will come by. You beat me on this one.
It appears to be that way, however... From what I read, being in business since 1898, and the markings on most of the equipment, I bet most of it was used by them until they broke down. Now based on what Jason Asselin said, 600 just needs a traction motor. I bet i could we could get a crew to work for free to get one swapped out to see it run again. I'd be the first in!
Went on GE and had a look at the yard. The turn table and remnants of the roundhouse foot print still exist. A VERY vintage yard . Great to see the interest in this vintage equipment that would disappear if folks as you did not take care and concern for them . Well done!!! New sub.Cheers from Edmonton Canada.
Good day Steve, Nice to see you do a collaboration with Jason Asselin and having him show you more of the Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad. If you really want to see more steam locomotives that have seen better days, check out the Rails West Railroad Museum in Council Bluffs, IA. They have UP 4-8-4 #814 and CB&Q 4-6-0 #915 on display with no kind of shelter whatsoever. Great job getting footage of the Jeep fire as well. Hopefully no one got hurt when the fire started.
Saddest part for me about that fire was the lady had a saxophone given to her as a gift in the Jeep. It was destroyed. One of the others had a guitar too. Nothing of that remains. F*&k the Jeep, the personal things lost made me sad. Jeeps are easy to buy.
Great video Steve nice collaboration with Jason A. Really enjoy your commentary and seeing all the old locomotive steam or diesel engines thanks for sharing stay safe.
Of course the FOXY is friendly, they're an offshoot off the WSOR. the Wisconsin and Southern is one of the friendliest railroads out there. I know before the FOXY was held up by the STB Ted Nicholson was going to go from WSOR to run FOXY. Ted was a conductor, engineer on the WSOR and designed the WSOR 40th anniversary engine. Ted is one of the really nice guys out there. One time he saw me on bridge and came out of warm cab in the middle of winter just to wave to me. If Ted brings that attitude to FOXY it will be a fun place to railfan.
WOW! That propane tank stayed intact and didn't pop.. have personally seen where did explode and it ain't pretty!! Another great video Steve... your trucking channel has obviously taught you a lot about video production and it shows! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺️ I spent some time in the UP in '79/'81 courtesy of the USAF... wasn't a Rail Fan then and would have seen those retired power units in action had I been so and the dead of winter no less! All of the iron ore loading ports were just a short drive away really had no idea what we were in the midst of when it comes to the big lake ore boats and the high iron! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺️
Even with the long Jeep fire the trailer tongue propane cylinder did not look scorched nor big "Bic Lighter" flame vent caught on camera. Hope her stuff is ok. You two guys are magnets together! 🤗

Excellent Video guys. I watch both your channels and appreciate the footage you guys capture of the old iron that built and continues to build America. I'm a big fan of the Working Man and Women that play a gigantic part in keeping the supply chain moving. The first tractor i learned to drive was a cabover Pete a couple of years later i bought a B61 Mack i was fortunate enough to catch the end of the golden era of Trucking. Friday morning on a run out of Brooklyn on the Verrazano there were two ship passing under the bridge a Container ship and Cruise liner, what a site, these are the cool things you will see out there on the road. Thank both of you guys for the historic interesting videos you make. One last thing. For the ELS crew who doesn't like to be filmed maybe one day his children and grandchildren would enjoy seeing Grandpa work at his job. All the Best

In Nashville, TN a NC&StL steam engine IS being restored. A good friend of mine is on the crew. He also was an engineer at the Chatanooga Railroad museum and has taken the Southern 730 around the southeast.
Interesting video. I am in the SW LP of Michigan. I used to run KLS&C 85 and other engines on the Kalamazoo Lake Shore & Chicago Railway from 1989-94. It was both a fun hobby and work as an engineer, conductor, trainman, and fireman. I ran the tourist trains, dinner trains, and freight trains. The line went from Paw Paw to Hartford where we interchanged with the CSX. We were railfan friendly. Still safety of railfans, public and passengers was paramount. We could be both nice as could be or very angry. It all depended on what people were doing. I have been both. On You Tube, I know of 3 videos of the KLS&C. I was not running any of the trains that day. I have run all of the engines/trains you see in the videos. While with the KLS&C, I learned that most people have no clue as to how much railroad engines and freight cars weigh. I mean totally clueless. I would ask kids on the tourist train as I was punching tickets how much do you think 85 weighs? The kid's answer was like 10 tons, 15, 20... When I would tell the kids the answer, 122 tons depending on fuel load, I would watch the parents jaw drop!!! It was fun to see. Do you volunteer on the tourist railroad at North Freedom? I have been there way back in 1975 and road their train.
I watch J. A train videos .... and saw his video of this stop and of you and him meeting the officers and his video gave a link to this video so I came by to see your side of the show its cool that you guys shared each other's content info keep up the good work drive safe and thanks for the upload ✌ 😎 👌
Frisco 1355 is kinda in a similar situation as Soo Line 730 as they're not displayed in a park or place where you can stop and walk up to it. I visited 1355 in Pensacola this spring and its in the median of W Garden Street near the intersection of N Coyle Street, which I could at least park on and get onto the sidewalk and see the locomotive.
Excellent video and great to see Jason make an appearance. I enjoyed the locations you guys were at especially that graveyard of retired rail equipment. Looks like a good place to be but unfortunately E&LS are too strict towards railfans. I guess they never heard of good public relations and they could turn it into a museum and charge the public admission to help cover the cost of maintaining the place. Too bad about the thefts in the past though. But anyway this was an excellent video and thanks for sharing it. 😁👍
Back in the 90's when Ohio Central Railroad ran the old Penn-Central line through Coshocton County, Ohio, restored steam locomotives were a regular sight and wonderful sound through here. I actually saw them used (as well as some former Gettysburg railroad"F" Series) pulling the daily coal train from Cadiz to Conesville. They also offered public excursions using steam and diesels on the line frequently. Damn I miss those days.
Damn, and they have two sharks?!?!?? What the hell!!! I would pay to see those two run! Who could restore those? Are you familiar with the Ft Wayne, IN railroad and their steam engine? That’s a real treat to see running!
That's funny, i Subscribe to both you rock stars. You for trucks and Jason as well. Dealing with enforcement is just a day in our lives. I think the cops understood they were already at the top of the hill and the war will never end against a man and with trucks. My best friend in high school in Chenango Forks NY married they guys daughter that ran those Baldwin sharks for the D&H. I love watching who drives by you on your camera mounted on the load on your trailer to see if its one of my customers trucks.
I think the truth by the RR is that (it's in storage). Stands to reason why it's in that location. The pigeons will eventually destroy this thing if nothing is done. It may be out of direct sunlight but that's about it. Thanks for the video, very good. P.S. Steam power is more economical than most people think. They do a damn fine job.
We have at least 2 historic steam locomotives in the Birmingham area that are wasting away. The Frisco 4018 at Sloss Furnace Historic site and the Alabama Central #29 sitting at the Alabama Mining Museum in Dora Alabama. Birmingham at least try’s to keep the 4018 painted, but sadly, the #23 is fast wasting away.
@@fscrailroad2321 well jaw tooth should , since he was with Jason in some of his videos, shoe string ?? Don’t know?? Thanks fir the add… now I have to subscribe to your trucking channel …. Thanks
The trackage in pembrane is where they switched over to Canadian national it's the Canadian national line that goes east and west out of him buying and the e l s goes north and south
'Panel track" is short sections of track with rails and ties already attached, used temporarily to provide a way to move railroad equipment that has no permanent rail connections. Easily moved by truck. Kinda looks like model train track sections.
@@fscrailroad2321 they house some rare Baldwin Diesels, about 20 years ago someone broke into one of their engine houses, and stole builders plates and manuals, prior to that, they were very railfan friendly.
@@Rev1Kev And that's why I worry about that old equipment. I wouldn't put it past them to just scrap all of it (including the sharks) to cheese off railfans.
Welcome to Michigan Steve, the way has pricing is going it'll only be a matter of time before it maybe rebuilt .. cheaper to pay fines then buy gas, check out what's left of a engine by nama (?) Old logging stream engine
NAHMA. Just a short distance east of Gladstone then down a county road to the village. It is a very small Baldwin 2-8-2 which has been moved under cover at a village park. In remarkably good shape considering how long it's been since the logging RR shut down. I have a copy of a video about the RR and logging industry there ("Fallen Timber, Faded Dreams") put out by a PBS station in Wisconsin that has images of the locomotive working. Worth looking for.
@@craigwilson128 I have friends that live not far from the hotel and when I visited it it was outside surrounded by over growth but I remember hearing about it being better taken care of
Im a big semi and train enthusiast Big boy road number from Union Pacific steam heritage fleet is 4014 I've been waiting for you to run through East Idaho if you ever had the chance and I've chased the big boy steam engine from Omaha all the way through Cheyenne into Idaho Utah Oregon I wish I could have done the big Southern loop a couple years ago but I hope I get to see you and that beautiful blue peat Orwell sometime just keep her Sunny side up and the rubber down and be safe in all your travels
An interesting video. Love seeing the old equipment but sure would be nice to see it in better shape. Maybe someone could get a group together, talk to the owners and see if it could raise funds to help restore it at least. The group could also check into finding a new spot to display it. Hopefully it can be restored before it is ruined completely. You two make a great team, but quit picking on the cops! lol.
Ahh, those two were very polite. I think it showed that. As for the 730 it would be nice. Perhaps one day with the channels I can put something together in that direction. I have big ideas with a tiny budget.
They added tracks to remodel the UP 4014 big boy steam train out in California to take the locomotive to Wyoming, I followed that train from the beginning
Seeing all that historic equipment reminds me why shortlines are the backbone of the railroad industry which give it the oil. It's a shame ESLR is not friendly with railfans because they have alot to offer us in terms of history to share. It's a shame to see the pigeons have turned the steam locomotive into their personal toilet.. It makes you wonder once they get the funds that they won't move it to another more railfan friendly place. I have sympathy for the family who lost their Jeep, electrical fires are very scary, but at least nobody was hurt and the worst thing they'll have to put up with is repairs and a new ride.
One of the issues with railfans and ELS (or Railfans and many railroaders) is the few bad apples that ruin it for all. Jason's channel frequently has fans trashing the railroad, how it operates, and how the crews do their job. After a while those who work on the railroad for a living get tired of it.
Class 1’s are under fire a lot these days. CN could garner some public goodwill by making it more accessible. Same for the other Class 1’s, they could do some public display events. But that’s my .02 cents worth.
The UP 3985, their EMD DDA40X 6936 plus other rolling stock to an Illinois based group. On April 28, 2022, UP officials announced that the company would donate No. 3985-along with 2-10-2 No. 5511, Centennial No. 6936, an unpowered E9 locomotive, and other rolling stock from their Heritage Fleet roster-to the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America in Silvis, Illinois. RRHMA has plans to eventually restore the Nos. 3985 and 5511 steam locomotives to operating condition. The donation agreement allows the railroad to reclaim the locomotive upon reimbursing the museum for its costs. On May 13, 2022, RRHMA launched a fundraiser to raise enough money for the restoration of the Nos. 3985 and 5511 steam locomotives.
I've seen Jason's videos before and as much as I support the police they are NOT using common sense with him. All the guy wants to do is film trains by his house and what does he get ? Harrassed by the Railroad, Police and some weird guy (probably a FOAMER) keeps following him around his town. I've never seen this level of harassment for a Law Abiding Citizen whose did Nothing wrong. Show this guy some Love and Support. He deserves it !
it is railroad property and it is trespassing thats why the cops come at what point do you not understand the law instead its always the cops fault and poor jason is the victim he is a fake and a fraud
Rail people squirm when under camera scrutiny. I would cut my beard and hair clean, and try that for public relations. I let my beard grow nasty, but I did not leave my house. Take care. There is good information that the Illinois Rail museum is a friendly place. I need to see it.
It took a shaming comment on VR to get the Horseshoe pass heritage loco painted recently. These locomotives are part of the history of life and progress in the US. Think about the potential of the use of these historic locos as an asset possibly with tourist trains at weekend's and national holidays spending big bucks on your property.
Seems to me like the loggers need the ELS more than the ELS thinks they need them. But that would also explain in part why the ELS is reluctant to maintain the line too. Maybe they have a PR problem?
That 901-aba units sat at the Green Bay railroad museum for quite a while then it sat on the trackage in ashwaubenon waiting for CN to give them I should say ELS the trackage rights to take them North and that was in the late '90s early 2000s they moved it up and it sat in pembine for a while before they moved it where it is now I was driving truck time up and down twice a night to Green Bay
I been buy that train several time's. And when i had the kid's with me. I stopped and let them see it. And sure enough here comes the POPO. And there like what are u guy's doing here. And i was like the kid's are just looking at the Steam Engine. And they was like move alone. And i said there are no trespassing sign's around and u can't do nothing. That one female officer was really mad. And here comes another patrol car coming the other direction. And the 2 cop's quickly got in there patrol car and left. I showed the Captain the video and he said they will be taking care of. He said they kept harrashing people at the park. And i said hey no offense they think they have a gun and a badge they can abuse the power. And he said they just lost a settlement against somebody that was treated bad. And i was like ha ha serves u right. And he got in his patrol and left. Dam i bet the engine got hot due to the radiator fan not working or water pump went out or lack of radiator fluid. I seen that happened month's ago. And the couple was trying to get there 5th wheel detached form the trailer. And i managed to get the trailer detached from the 5th wheel. And i sent out a driver to bring a day cab over where i was at. And he did and i told the couple that i will haul the trailer to there house for them. And they was really happy. They wanted me to go to the dealership where they purchased the Truck and they demanded there money back. And they was giving there money back after i contacted a good friend of mine that's a detective. And the couple was trying to find a good truck. And they had there eyes on a daycab cargo truck with a small sleeper. And they brought it from us for 5 grand. It run's excellent and drives good. And the couple are still touring the United State's and never had no issues with it.
Wow they still make "bubble gum machine" lights for cop cars? And the city needs to either move that engine to their property or arrange a lease (or buy) with CN for the land in front of it. That's stupid.
My mom would have said you shouldn't hang out with people who get the cops called on them.. But I'm really not that bad! LMAO.. Great to meet you and it was fun!

Jason sent me,I will check out your channel
There is the Lumberjack Steam Train in Laona and the GM switcher at Laona Junction. They both seem to be readily accessible.
At 24:20, that grey and blue car is a Via Rail !
What is it doing there ?
They own it.
They need to hire FSC Trucking to haul that thing to a county park where people can actually see it!!!
I believe it's the 1225 steam locomotive that still runs during the Christmas holidays here in Owosso Michigan.
well the plate on the jeep did start with the word sun,and the sun is hot.
Loved watching both of you guys at the same time …. Tell Jason … you guys also need jaw tooth and shoestring on there💯😊
Working on it. I doubt Jaw Tooth or Shoestring knows of me. Would be cool to do that!
Now that would be an all-star cast
@@fscrailroad2321 well jaw tooth should , since he was with Jason in some of his videos, shoe string ?? Don’t know?? Thanks fir the add… now I have to subscribe to your trucking channel …. Thanks
The trackage in pembrane is where they switched over to Canadian national it's the Canadian national line that goes east and west out of him buying and the e l s goes north and south
Where do they have that 901 parked at?
Is that Gladstone?
'Panel track" is short sections of track with rails and ties already attached, used temporarily to provide a way to move railroad equipment that has no permanent rail connections. Easily moved by truck. Kinda looks like model train track sections.
The 2md UP is a Challenger. I believe the number is 844.
UP retired the last Challenger #3985. The 844 is a Northern.
@@parailfan thank you
a real train graveyard, for parts, and that fire on the end, the save the camper..
Michigan State Police are always decent guys in my experience.
The E&LS are not railfan friendly, and call the police every chance they get, as I’m sure Jason will attest
Oh I know. I'm sure that is great for their public image... should videos go viral.
@@craigwilson128 I have friends that live not far from the hotel and when I visited it it was outside surrounded by over growth but I remember hearing about it being better taken care of
Check out the locomotive in Grand Haven, Mi, and it's sister the 1225 from Owosso Michigan (which is running) and has video here on TH-cam.
I'm almost beside myself. The police actually left without asking for ID.
New sub! Liked
Welcome to the U. P.
Jason Asselin brought me here 😛
I grew up right across the highway. Right behind the saloon pizza. I was looking for it in the video but he panned the camera too fast.
Time to declare open season on flying rats/pigeons 🐀🐦☄️💥🔥
Cool dragline and video off oll trains
I have 5 historical dragline’s and a oll Ruston Hornsby locomotive
I'd love to check that out. Reach out. FeszchakShop@gmail.com
Law breakers over here 🤣🤣🤣
Come to Chattanooga tn and visit the Tennessee Valley Railroad museum
Jason Asselin sent me.
Do they have working museums for steam locomotives in the USA, we’ve got a few in the UK, also have heritage lines where they keep them running
How are you doing today good afternoon
I just want to say hello to you anytime
Yeah - ppl like to seal the bells, horns, lights, data plates, controls from inside the cabs...
I don't know how a railroad can be "not railfan friendly" and run freight with an F-unit. C'mon guys, you know you want the attention.
Not all railroaders or management are rail fans
Rail people squirm when under camera scrutiny. I would cut my beard and hair clean, and try that for public relations. I let my beard grow nasty, but I did not leave my house. Take care.
There is good information that the Illinois Rail museum is a friendly place. I need to see it.
It took a shaming comment on VR to get the Horseshoe pass heritage loco painted recently. These locomotives are part of the history of life and progress in the US. Think about the potential of the use of these historic locos as an asset possibly with tourist trains at weekend's and national holidays spending big bucks on your property.
It looks as if this owner of this railroad is letting the old railcars and most of his engines just rot away.
Seems to me like the loggers need the ELS more than the ELS thinks they need them. But that would also explain in part why the ELS is reluctant to maintain the line too. Maybe they have a PR problem?
Hahahah the police love Jason.
you can't jason NOWHERE 🤣🤣👮♂👮♂
That 901-aba units sat at the Green Bay railroad museum for quite a while then it sat on the trackage in ashwaubenon waiting for CN to give them I should say ELS the trackage rights to take them North and that was in the late '90s early 2000s they moved it up and it sat in pembine for a while before they moved it where it is now I was driving truck time up and down twice a night to Green Bay
Enjoy while you can ......its just a matter of time before these companies go electric.
Where do they find all the 5'3 cops 😂
👍
Wow they still make "bubble gum machine" lights for cop cars?
And the city needs to either move that engine to their property or arrange a lease (or buy) with CN for the land in front of it. That's stupid.
I like this channel better than the trucking
Never pull a camper on a little Jeep. Must have overheated the hell out of that engine!
