Good Job ... loved the EJ series .. I'm sure there was many more issues encountered then stipulated. My nephews friend has a Impresa STI WRX. He miss down shifted from 3rd to 1st and over revved. IDK how, but I guess it happened. We need to find out whats broke. You have inspired me to think a full rebuild is posable. It reminds me of a motorcycle engine rebuild. I work on mostly SBC motors, like in my old cutlass., but I do have a FRS w/JRSC which is a lot of fun. Thx for the video
hi, how has the engine been since this series? i have an 05 baja with an ej255 that most likely needs a rebuild, were there any issues you encountered or pieces of advice you can give?
It's been almost perfect. I have some lifter noise that's probably from one that is too loose. The engine overall was difficult to rebuild. It didn't help that I ran into some problems beyond my control, mostly with the machine shop. But the design means it's hard to assemble and there's a lot of parts, especially hoses and tubes in the intake manifold. If you get it rebuilt try to find a shop with a torque plate, and they need to bolt the cases halves together when they bore it. Besides that follow the factory service manual and take your time.
