      Hi, the build series was absolutely awesome, I have watched many of your videos and they are always the best quality. I do have one question regarding one of the casing mods on the water channels. Is that to remove air that could get trapped? Or is it for additional water flow? If it is water flow where do you return it to?

      I remember my first time. I used every word I knew and invented a few. Now its no big deal. On aluminum, you should expect it from time to time. Even the best fluff up once in a while. The guy that admits his mistake and fixes it is what sets him apart from the rest.

  • @angelsweetpal
    @angelsweetpal 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    No doubt you are a master builder, great job. Is it me or you had to change the oil filter on this engine? Or maybe this is a whole other motor, the one you put on part 2 was red, now this one's black 🤔🤔🤔🤔

    • @larrygall5831
      @larrygall5831 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I had to guess, the first one was just a cheap filter he keeps in the shop, and it was fitted to protect the mating surface / threads, and keep anything from getting inside. Then he put a decent filter for shipping that the customer could use if they wanted. Putting the new one on first, it would possibly get dented, and it would look kind of ghetto being on a top-line engine like this. That is my guess, anyway.

    • @tomatoknuckles
      @tomatoknuckles 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was looking for this comment🤔 and the oil filter he put on 1st was an sti one so wasn't just a cheap one. Maybe the customer wanted a different one.?

      The engine being CAPABLE and being TUNED to 800 are two different things. He makes them CAPABLE of taking 800HP, you or your tuner are the ones who do the rest. In other words, don't hold your breath on that video, you're not the kind of person this guy wants as a client anyway.

You're absolutely right, thats what you should do. Instead of the guy who fixes it the right way, with the good components meant for that very job. Sorry to tell you this butfrom someone whos been in automotive for a while, that happens all the time, its a part of machining, but its a professional who handels it correctly, and what you saw was exactly how it should be fixed. *I even learned a few points that may be applied elsewhere and I am REALLY impressed that you not only included the stripping of the thread but the repair of it** - many TH-cam 'experts' would have covered that up - Well done!
    **I have worked with some very expensive alloy parts that had ALL threaded holes heli-coiled as they are much stronger than threads directly into the alloy and are much more resistant to problems with multiple rebuilds. To that end, where practical, I prefer to use studs in alloy.

      @@114moheThat kind of thought and idea only shows your ignorance, and possibly projection of your own financial situation. Consider the thought that inquiring about something shows no relation to anything other than curiosity or potential decision making.
      I hope the next time you ask about the cost of anything you get nothing but that reply, just so you can experience how purely asinine and annoying it is.

    BULL SHIT! BULL SHIT! BULL SHIT! IF it made 800 HP, it'd last MAYBE 30 seconds. The engine cases aren't strong enough to handle that much HP and torque. I've worked on boxer engines on VDubs, Honda GoldWings and Subarus and BMW cycles. Engine case strength isn't their strong suit. 350 HP from a Subaru 2.5 (that will last) is a miracle, and that's a four valve variable valve timing turbo pushed to the max. 300-ish HP from that engine can be reliable, and that's a big jump from 212 stock HP (now a claimed 240 that I don't believe, even on premium gas). If you want that power level, fill the trunk with $100 bills. Now you need to do major up-grades to the trans axle.

    Those are really nice videos of this engine build up..awesome! Keep up the great work. But I simply don't' believe that it can deliver 800 hp??? It's almost the same as a formula 1 engine, that's not possible, and it's only a 2.0 4 cylinder? Is there a video of the engine/car in action somewhere?

    Sadly all this professional work and love and $15,000. Everything done correctly and no skimps. The damn thing will still probably have problems gremlins random intake leaks exhaust leaks warps maf problems speed density problems. I hope that beauty goes until the rings give away or time for shortened interval timing belt job.

    I’m thinking about building a VW Beetle with a Suburu engine for power. The only problem I’ve seen is the Exhaust hangs down pretty low. Is there a decent header that will provide better ground clearence, or have you used log manifolds with turbo charged enginesL

    What do you think of placing rods along the cylinder walls of an open deck design EJ251 for added rigidity? The engines cannot accept a turbo reliably stock, Ive seen on some forums people saying they've done this and were able to run a 10lbs of boost without blowing headgaskets.

    Despite recognizing the performance reputation of the Suby boxer motor, I am far of being impressed of the assembly complexity of this engine. Far way complicated than an inline four 😬😬 I understand why Suby boxer engine are so expensive to service. Being more complicated doesn’t necessary means to be a marvel piece of engineering...
