You should try some federal grand slam turkey loads with their flitecontrol choke system in the 500. Some people claim to get very good groups in more open chokes with that flitecontrol was system.
Budget Sportsman, great comparison! I purchased the TruGlo choke tube and Winchester shells after your initial video and also saw a HUGE improvement over my stock choke tube and Remington shells! I had a solid pattern out to nearly 55 yards with that new setup and was only comfortable out to 30-35 with my original setup! Our findings match totally! Great video!

Longbeard is THE best bang for the buck if you need to shoot 40+ yards. Thank you for a great comparison.

That Mossberg 500 has a modified choke. That's why it sucks with the Remington ammo over 30 yards.
That Gobble stopper choke is extra full.
The Winchester Longbeared XR ammo is specifically made for the Carlson's Longbeared XR choke. Put those two together it's a wrap.
Right, I understand all of that. I just bought a $25 choke rather than a $60 choke.

The Carlons XR choke paired with XR has been a great combo for me, with a great pattern.
I seriously considered the Carlson XR choke but really wanted to try the super budget friendly choke.
The Budget Sportsman my sons Winchester 1300 shoots a very tight pattern with the XR choke and ammo combo too.
Choke
Careful with the tru glow choke you are not supposed to use steel or heavy shot with that choke. Choke is the most important. Get a mojo turkey choke for turkey and the water fowl chokes for other birds. They are amazing.

I shot Kent turkey loads,winchester XR,and federal grand slams..the Remington ammo shoots much better.

I am not sure why you can’t see it messages is enabled for the page. You can open messenger and just type the budget sportsman into “to” line. It should find me as you start to type.
Wow, I dont mean to sound crass but those are some of the worst patterns I’ve seen. The true glow comes with the sites, It looks like I would toss that out. In my Stoeger M 3500 I use the diamond strike .665. At 50 it was still devastating, way tighter than those shots. I would highly recommend that choke, and the Carlsons Longbeard XR choke was insane for the 20 gauge.
Thanks for your feedback. Considering I was comparing 2 guns and two different shells, I’m not sure which patterns you are referring to. I can only assume that you are referring to even the “better” patterns. I will agree that I have seen much better but the point of this video was to show the improvement in my pattern over the gun/ammo combination I’ve had to use in the past.
Also keep in mind my channel is all about hunting on a budget. I bought and use one of the cheapest chokes on the market. It improved my patterns and I have no complaints. Also, are we comparing apples to apples as far as the shot size/load etc that you were using?
The Budget Sportsman sorry, to clarify the LB XR. My point was that was the most dispersed pattern I’ve seen out of any longbeard. Pattern videos with multiple loads & by experience, I’m shooting 3.5” 5 shot.
The Budget Sportsman & I want to be clear that I am not knocking anything at all. I love the video I just feel baffled, like the XR is so devastating usually, not sure why it was so spread out.
