  • This UEFA A license session is brought to you by the vastly experienced coach John Gall.
John's coaching pathway began while playing in college in Oklahoma City. He moved to Dallas in ‘99 to play in the USL and got involved in the highly competitive club soccer market. An opportunity came to coach at a large high school where John spent fifteen years with many top young players, while still coaching at the club level.
Following this John moved to work full time at FC Dallas where he became U19 MLS Academy head coach and director of coaching. John is another coach who has experience in developing players that have made their way in the professional game both at club and international level.
In his career John been fortunate enough to win state championships, national championships, the Dallas Cup and numerous league titles. A significant number of honours for a coach held in high regard.

So informative to watch as a new coach myself. Couldn't tell for sure but it looks like he has some notes with him as he coaches, could this be the outline of the activities or progressions? I find as a newer coach sometimes the mental effort to not forget the session details can detract from the mental space to really get stuck into coaching the players! There is only so much info I can retain if everything is new.

Thanks for reaching ouy. It is indeed his notes. I feel there is some sort of stigma attached to coaches carrying notes, and i just dont understand why.
With so much planning that goes into each session it makes perfect sense to carry either a copy of the session plan or a 'cheat sheet' outlining what your non negotiable outcome of the session are.
It works for coaches at the highest levels. Good luck

@@CoachWG thank you for the reply! Totally agree, I've coached different sports in the past and it was a sign of 'weakness' to have to check a quick summary sheet, coaching shouldn't be a perfectly rehearsed performance. Very refreshing to see it from such a high level coach.

Grid sizes depend a number of variants. Age, ability, outcomes you want etc. Start with a grid size you feel and adapt if required
