  • (Part 2) At the end of the LotR-trilogy, when standing at the Grey Havens, Frodo reveals that he will be going with the last ship to leave Middle-Earth, to the shock and grief of his friends. (HD Blu-ray)
This scene is so emotional, sad and heartbreaking, but still so beautiful and a perfect ending.

For the recap, i searched out to find the fate of each member of Fellowship and i found interesting
    1. Gandalf, as the only wizard who true to his cause, was the only wizard that permitted to sail back to his homeland in the west, in land of Aman
    2. Frodo, as the ringbearer, also permitted to sail to the west live and heal physically and mentally after holding the one ring for long
    3. Sam, as a companion, did bear the one ring for brief. Because of that, Sam too was permitted to sail west and (presumably) meet again with Frodo in land of Aman
    4. Merry and Pippin, they both became an influental figure within Shire, as well as acknowledged as a councillor to represents Shire in court of Elessar. They spent their elder days in Gondor and laid in tomb of Kings of Gondor, as a token of respect
    5. Aragorn, the king of Reunited Kingdom of Gondor, will continue to rule for next century or more, outlived both his loyal servant (Faramir, Steward of Gondor) and his trusted ally (Eomer, King of Rohan). He passed away in Gondor and laid to rest in Tomb of Kings, with Merry and Pippin laid beside him.
    6. Legolas, the wood elf, lead some of his people to live in Ithilien. After Aragorn passed away, as custom for the Elves, Legolas will build his ship and allowed himself to sail to the west.
    7. Gimli, the dwarf, lead some of his people to live near Helms Deep and make a new dwarven realm. After Aragorn passed away, He too will follow Legolas, as a token for their friendship, to sail to the west. Gimli is the only Dwarf that permitted to do so
They have their ways to depart from Middle earth and all of them will gain a peace, happy, and blissful ending

Tolkien recognized PTSD, which too many in his time did not. He understood that after what Frodo went through he had wounds in his mind and soul that could not be healed simply by returning to life in the Shire, much as too many real world soldiers struggle to find peace in civilian life after the horrors of war. This was meant to be a happy ending for Frodo. He would go to Aman where none of the painful memories of Middle Earth would confront him everywhere he looked and where he could live out his life in true peace surrounded by wonders.

One thing I really love about this scene is what Peter Jackson and the crew did for Frodo. While it is clearly shown that Frodo never really healed bearing the ring, even after it was destroyed he says this. But in every scene since the ring was destroyed he still looks depressed and a bit pale, even in scenes where he is happy and laughing (Sam's wedding). It isn't until he turns back to his friends while on the boat that you physically see life in his eyes and color in face again. he literally has rosy cheeks and the bags under his eyes are gone. Just love that detail that he is on his way to truly healing, can be at peace, and that it happens the moment he let's go. I'm sure its written in the book, a testament to Tolkein's beauty in words, but these little details are what make these movies so beautiful as well.

He comes to the Tower Hills, and is last seen by Elanor, to whom he gives the Red Book afterwards kept by the Fairbairns. @@Sarah_Kinz I haven't watched the series yet because I've already seen there's an awful agenda behind it.
I can sum it up as basically the following:
Where Tolkien's works are strongly based on deep morals, Amazon's version "adaptation" is far more on looking good but the characters are empty shells.
This isn't about skin colour or a lack of coloured people. It's a primarily Northern European fantasy world, so naturally you'd get predominantly white or, as Tolkien put it, "fair skinned" people. But he did include darker skinned people from the East and Harad (the South). Much untapped potential there! But what does Amazon feel like doing?
"Not enough racial diversity! We'll add in dark skinned people amongst 99% light skinned people! We'll also change how the females are in charge, because we cannot have toxic masculinity take charge now, can we?"
Amazon would consider characters like Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf "The White"...all racist. But if they were dark skinned they'd have no issues. This isn't a focus on racial equality, it's trying to twist the deep-found morals in Tolkien's works. THAT'S why his works, not unlike the Bible and other philosophies, speak to the hearts of mankind regardless of skin colour.
Amazon isn't unifying, they're twisting and defiling the deeper morals of humanity, using Tolkien's works as a vehicle bought by 1Billion dollars. But you can't buy morals. And twisting it will only lash back at them, mark my words.

It feels so wrong for Frodo to be apart from them, especially Sam, but we understand why he has to go, and we know that somehow, everything will be alright. Elijah Wood’s acting here is so incredible; you can see how Frodo is struggling to hold back tears because he knows how devastated his friends are and he wants to be strong for them and make sure that their last image of him in their minds won’t be of him in tears. So he rallies and smiles, but we know he’s about to let the dam break offscreen as the ship leaves.
