      Other tutorials are longer and more complicated because they go more in depth in motion tracking this is more of a play and go tutorial not much explanation on how the trackers actually work

    The automatic adjusted shadow catcher nodes in the Compositor aren't necessary anymore since you can go in the Ground's object tab->scroll down->click 'shadow catcher' and the ground will be invisible but receive shadows from objects

    • @KenanProffitt
      @KenanProffitt  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks for noting this! Yes, that is true. It works just as well also.

    • @krypto61
      @krypto61 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kenan Proffitt I always had problems with the shadow catcher nodes since it wasn't easy to manage issues like edges or shadow problems even though I love the compositor.
      So I'm pretty happy that the shadow catcher was released :D

    I had done Blender camera tracking twice in the past and got fairly good results, but I was reluctant to use it again, because it seemed to take forever. Lots and lots of camera solving and tweaking before I got it right. I learned it from someone else's tutorial and remember writing everything down: 462 steps (exaggeration, but there were quite a lot of steps). Your tutorial explains it much better, makes it seem less daunting. I'm excited to try it again....

    2 questions. 1:How did you prevent the shadow clipping through the footage with the plane? 5:40
    2. How do you implement an object to interact with the scene? For example, the wall next to the text on the right. How would I go about blocking the object with that wall?

    OMG. I'm actually quite speechless on how basically easy this can be. It's more tedious than anything but I, for some reason, like tedious things. It gives me a reason to put on music while doing this. A while ago when I was watching things about Blender, I watched quite a bit of Blender Guru's video on motion tracking and got the idea that it's really hard. The only thing that makes it hard is crappy quality footage. I'm glad I watched this before fully watching Blender Guru's video. It's 57 mins. I mean, Blender Guru overly explains things so if I want to get more details, he is good for that but this is a quick and simple rundown on how to do this. Thanks.
    One question I have is how do you render it? Do you render it like you normally do? Like I usually just render it into pictures, then into a video. And is the sound, if any, included once you render?
    When I do try it, I may have questions. I don't know until I try once.

    I have so much trouble trying to get the scene tracked correctly. Even when I select three points that represent the floor or the wall, sometimes that floor is way off in left field somewhere and sometimes the camera itself is right in the center of the scene and has tracking marks behind the camera. For the life of me I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have the camera sensor size set. I have the lens set. I go through meticulously and set camera tracking marks and I use a whole bunch of them and I get rid of the ones that are just completely way out in left field. But for some reason I have so much trouble getting it to work. I'd pull my hair out if I had hair.
