The classic squeak, the only true sound of a clarinetist
Taylor Howard very true
Amen
Factual.
Taylor Howard Hatr when I squeak....
Saxophone?
**when someone in class says their clarinet is broken and the teacher tests it out**
Augh, yes
Bruhh😂😂 that's me
LOL
hahahaha mood
omg this is so true 😂😂😂
be gentle with brett he's a fragile violinist he only has two lungs
I only have .8, they're so lucky 😔
Uh How....how many lungs do wind instrument players have tho 👀
Arin G. It’s better not to question it I would rather not spend my time counting...
By the time you have passed off the first playing test, you will have 84 lungs.
i only got 64 lungs bruv and i still can’t play my solo
twosetviolin: violin is the hardest instrument in the world
also twosetviolin: *cant make a sound on clarinet after an hour of playing*
In his defense, it took me two weeks to learn how to play five notes when I started
@@grahamo.9657 On violin or clarinet?
@@meatsupplies5282 both 😂
To be fair, It is hard to get a good sound when first starting and the reed is at least a 3, probably higher
Erica R when I first started playing I accidentally started on a 4... I bought a used clarinet and there were new reeds in there and I didn’t know any better........ thankfully my teacher noticed after a week or so
This is me playing at home vs me in class when my teacher tells me to play by myself
Band teacher says play solo
Why this so accurate tho
Rebecca Veenstra I’m the only clarinet in my class 😓and some song have clarinet solos 😪
I swear
Man I FELT THIS. I've been playing clarinet for 8 years now and in the practice room I sound like fucking Beethoven. Put me solo? Fucking Squidward. It's so embarrassing
Y’all don’t understand how hard it is to get those high notes to come out when you first start the clarinet
Edit: i’ve been playing for 8 years now, i can play them yall LMAO
At first it is hard but once you get to manage B, you will have an easier time going up until ermm... the cycle repeats again but at a different higher note
For real.
Linnea T agreed
I started Clarinet two years ago and when I tried high notes with the registrar key, I almost died.
and starting off on bass clarinet is twice as hard
Lloyd: *plays effortlessly*
Brett: *attempts to blow air into clarinet*
- Lloyd:😄
Kitty90 watching him trying not to laugh out loud was the funniest part of this video to me 😂
1,000th like
1k?!?! Whhhhaaaaat lol
He's probably remembering just starting out and having all those same issues. 😂
the question is:
DID HE PUT THE REED 1nm OFF TO THE SIDE?
Maybe his playing is just so good it's outside of our range of hearing
Maybe but probably not.
It was because his embouchure (how his mouth was positioned) was wrong.
I play clarinet and it was because he had not enough of his reed inside his mouth. If you have too much or partially uncover notes then it will squeak
@@endocarp4792 you completely missed the joke
*He makes the clarinet make a high pitched sound inside my eardrum because of headphones*
0:43
Me: I'm deaf now
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was prepared for the squeaking.
*I was not disappointed.*
That’s gotta be a lotta spit though.
Dude couldn’t keep his face straight.
Isagail Why do I see you everywhere? First on MxR now here? Jesus
Isagail I played through an essential elements book in less than an hour and clarinetists almost killed me because I used vibrato but it sounded good 😂
Izzy it's not spit, it's condensation omg
HE KEPT PUFFING HIS CHEEKS I COULDN'T I WAS TRIGGERED. But he's a beginner so what can I say?
True.
*FINALLY!!!!* CLARINETS!!!! WHERE ARE YOU FELLOW CLARINETS!?!?!?
I’m a clarinet too!!
I hear you!
Epicry10 How is the life of a musical instrument?
Tyguy80s Big squeaker 😂 I'm gonna call it that from now on
Clarinetist following twoset violin to learn violin! Violin is CRAZY hard! Very humbling experience.
You never know clarinet pain until you have to hold it on your thumb for 4 hours straight and your finger turns purple. Also, the pain in the lips is terrible.
yeassss and with braces, the high notes (above the highest C) KILL you!
Yesss and the marks from the teeth pressing against the inner mouth is torture for dayssss
Doreen uses a little tape looking thing for the bottom lip I've seen... it looks like paper or something.. I'm guessing it both protects her lips and helps with jazz playing
I have a scar on my bottom lip because i applied too much pressure for too long and i started bleeding
@@christopherztooi gotta improve that inner corner mouth pressure to offset the under lip pressure.
Clarinets: *squeaks like crazy*
Band Director: Get it together your in the best band at this middle school you shouldn't be squeaking this much.
Me: bUt oUr cLaRiNeTs aRe gOiNg tHrOuGh pUbErTy
That's the best sentence I've ever heard in my life.😂😂😂
Lol 😂😂😂😂
This is very underrated
Lmao
As long as we don't squeak to much, this is the only thing or bands ditector isn't going after us about. (Because it happens to pros every once in a while too
Nahhhjhhhhg
Other instruments:
Clarinet: *Player swings their body and their instrument so hard that they were asked to conduct while playing the clarinet.
NovaPavlova wE LIKE TO DO A LIL’ DANCE

All of us flutes and clarinets do 😎😂
I have a habit of moving to the song when I play the clarinet. Idk it helps me keep in beat with the song
Flutes do it or at least I do and so does my flute teacher
Pro vs Beginner
More like how I think I sound vs how I actually sound
Ok now you just made me depressed
Yeah... I feel you.
I'm not sure if I should laugh, or cry and rethink my life

*Clarinet in mouth* OoOoH!!!
Every other piece: -_- . . .
Rhapsody in Blue: *visible fear*
Rhapsody in Blue is so hard.
I personally haven’t tried it but someone played it for me (i blew he did the fingering (also i just noticed how wrong that sounds))
It sounds really difficult
I was so amazed especially bc he is in percussion now but he plays so good 😭
I actually learned how to play that solo recently, it’s super fun and totally worth learning!
rhapsody in blue is easy tf do you guys mean
@@itstotesmelirn1725 i wouldn't say easy but yeah it definitely wasn't too bad. i've been playing for 6 years though
Can't tell the difference 👌👌👌
Agree.
Hello there
Sheet Music Boss didn't think I would find my favourite piano tutorial channel 😂!
I didn't expect to see you here
Sheet Music Boss there's not even difference...
I know these videos are meant to be funny, but I really enjoy listening to solo professionals!
Band Geek when they keep repeating the same schtick over and over again, it starts to lose the humour
We can all appreciate a good professional
is nobody gonna talk about that CRYSTAL CLEAR GLISS OR WHAT ?
I SWEAR people don't realize how difficult it is to do such an amazing gliss😭😍
I know I’m currently working on it!
Omg that face the beginner makes is priceless at 4:53 when the pro does the gliss lol got me laughing for 2 mins straight. This is identical to how I felt when I first heard Rhapsody in Blue XD
How TF do you do a gliss on clarinet I can't even

@@adopate719 you slide your fingers sideways off the holes instead of lifting them off

LOL😂
“Just our it in your mouth.”
Where my clarinet gang?
Thang Mang hereeee
Here and reporting for duty
Yes
Hereeee
I’m here!
If you wanna play the clarinet, you need to:
-have strong fingers
-have the best lungs to blow heavily
-endure pain on the cheeks and jaw (due to blowing heavily)
-have patience (duh.)
-have strong lip
-prepare yourself for a squidward reference
-always keep your reeds safe and don’t let other people mistake it for toothpicks (it's a real hassle, prepare to empty your wallet)
Good luck to those who want to try learning the instrument! It’s hard at first with the squeaky noises but you’ll get the hang of it!
Edit: you don't need recorder experience to play! it's just a bit of a funny parallel compared to the clarinet. not hating on the recorder or anything but there's a difference between the two instruments ;w;
Thanks, interesting
My dog chews on my reeds ;-;
I play the recorder for a year now and I'd love to learn to play clarinet...
i started like a month ago and i have braces and it was so hard to get used to and i always got sores until like now
I dont think that learning recorder helps a lot though
as a clarinetist, this is by far the funniest thing i have ever seen
I’m not saying this isn’t funny but if that was true your life must be very boring😳
@@rei.of.sunshine 😳
I feel bad for laughing at Squidward in my childhood, at least he was able to make 'notes'.
Lol same!
Come on man clarinet's not that hard. Just play trumpet for a few years first lol.
alex carter actually I find trumpet easier than clarinet
alex carter The only instruments harder to learn than the clarinet are the flute, trombone, and double reeds (in my opinion).

@ChaoticStallion Ive been playing for 5 year lol and Im on a 3. I guess I dont really need to get that thicc a read at this point;
thicc reeds sound hella good
he's playing on a 12.2
4:54 LOOK AT HIS FACE LMFAO HE'S SO AMAZED HAHAHHAHS I CAN'T HANDLE WITH THIS
MusikLy 03 Brett’s face of: IM SUPPOSED TO DO THAT
Lol. I made the same face because that never gets old. Its one of those things that are so difficult, to hear it done successfully is impressive. I did it once and was like "I don't care if this never happens again, I'm happy".
Demi Muse wow i wish i can do it One day too
Dianecie [Diane] EXACTLY hahaha
MusikLy 03 The first part is just a quick scale up the bottom, or chalameau, register of the instrument to the mid, or clarion, register. The portamento (the glide part) is essentially a bending of the pitches to seemless move from the bottom pitch to the top one. This is often down by slowly sliding the fingers off the holes or by adjusting the airflow in your mouth.
It’s weird to see him musically challenged 🤣
Professional Clarinettist: *does glissando in the clarinet*
Brett: *surprised pikachu face*
When you play with a group vs when the director asks you to play by yourself
kpopruined mylifeu ik this is old but FOR REAL
TOO ACCURATE
So true
This has happened too many times to me.
TRUE
All the clarinet TwoSet fans have been waiting for this.
Grace W I most definitely have
Of course
Grace, finnally. Wow, I have waited for this since the dawn of time.
U know us
YESSS IT'S ABOUT TIME
Professional: finally, I can do the whole song
Brett: finally, it does make a sound
I bought my first clarinet on 21st October 2019. On day one I couldn't get any sound out of it. After learning how to moisten and set the reed, and how to form a basic embouchure, I was able to play some simple notes. Two weeks in, I can now play all the lower register notes and some clarion register notes. I am now working on crossing the break. I love this instrument and want to learn it to the best of my ability.
Aw! Amazing! I'm a 7th grader who plays clarinet, and just wait till you get to the enharmonics. DONT QUIT THOUGH ^-^
Same I got the Clarinet around November 2019. Then I was able to play notes Chalumeau register like E, D, And C. Then a month, I was able to sightread (sort of) and I was able to play Bad Guy by Billie Eilish for my family on New Year's Eve, and learned all the chalumeau notes. Then I was able to play some clarion notes. I am n 7th grade.
continue!! it’s worth it!
All because of simply clarinet 😌
It's an awesome instrument, keep at it!
Shoutout to my fellow clarinet players

Claire in Japan ikr, but they accidentally put them on the wrong person. Bret is obviously the professional here. My clarinet abilities pale in comparison
Ya’ll don’t understand up how hard it is to sound like that. Especially when the clarinet you use is from your 4th grade band
Edit: Ya boi finally got an upgrade :)
I don’t know how long ago you put your update, but congrats!
I played a clarinet from when my dad was in middle school. My older brother also used it
I feel you! I just recently got a major upgrade after 5 and a half years of using a beginner instrument!
Same same. No upgrade yet, still the same old Leblanc (been playing for 8 years on and off, and by on and off I mean like 2 years without touching the clarinet)
My clarinet is from 4th grade too.
6:21 when an orchestra kid attempts to play a wind instrument while only having 2 lungs:
I mean I still get dizzy sometimes. Less now though
But what about a professional vs Ling Ling?
Justin Y. Ling Ling win exactly
I've already seen someone comment "Professional vs Ling Ling" on a previous video
uhh thought professional IS Ling Ling
ling ling is more than professional
Ling Ling declines performing with unintelligent brats.
As a clarinet player this hurts me... but at least he had to suffer through the embarrassment of squeaking firsthand so.
Ya, lol...
Clarion Kid same
Lol i’ve been playing for like a week and this looks and sounds terrible! Same

Did anyone else catch it, when he used the circular breathing technique at 2:59?
This guy is insane!
Omg I didn't even notice 🤯
He is, a pro clarinet player, really good
That was the moment he realized winds instruments are more than just blowing!
Seriously winds instruments are the worst and most intense in terms of difficulty. At first you think oh I’ll just blow and the instrument just play on note at a time, it feels like it’s at a much slower speed than piano or violin, not a problem! But then the squeaks come when you change notes, along with the breathlessness, and the faint feeling until you train it out of you lol.
that whole time the dude must have been like
*YoU’Re pLayIng iT wrOng*
Yes, the guy on the right :D
Honestlt me tho
For Rhapsody in Blue, the professional had that Good luck playing this shit" face. Like a teacher knowing their class is about to get rekt by a test.
7:13, gotta say, when I started the clarinet, I pulled a few of those.

BRETT! FIX YOUR EMBOUCHURE, TIGHTEN THOSE CHEEKS, WET YOUR REED, AND FIX THAT ATROCIOUS BELL ANGLE!!!!!!!! 🤬🤬🤬
Also how does this professional man move so much while he plays. He makes me want to practice.
Let me see that reed...
(Quote my teacher the first time I played:)
I’ve never seen a clarinet held so vertically before
He moves with the music. It’s natural.
Like Dominic mentioned above my comment, moving while playing the Clarinet is usually more natural and helps with expression. Despite playing for 8 years, I still don't really move while playing the Clarinet, but my college professor tells me I should be moving more while I play. I'm super stiff in my stance, and my air support isn't the best, which both contribute to why I don't move much.
Honestly same
