TBH people are making too much deal about the screen tearing, but it might be due to the fact that i'm not butt hurt that much about it.... i have it for a week now and only seen screen tearing 2 times. The only issues i have with it is software-based which no one mentions, sometimes the games might crash or not load but its super rare. And the other problem with it is that the speaker makes weird noises when there is no music being played, but if you lower down the volume than you won't hear it much, since the music covers it completely. All in all, to save everyone's time i will advise this: "If you are going for good design, build quality and games that don't require much performance(Zelda, Mario, etc) go for Pocket go. But if you want to play more performance heavy games go for LDK horizontal (+-60 dollars), or go for emulators above 100 dollars". Tbh people i would choose Bittboy just because the price is such a good bargain, the extra buttons look very nice and that sd card reader is a good touch+ it looks way more presentable to friends since you have that glass screen cover and well shaped design. Have a good one everyone, hope i helped you with your choice! ^^

I'm waiting for it too. Can't really decide which one to get. The LDK seems like a better performer with a better screen, but this pocketgo looks so much better, is more portable, has a glass over the screen (does the LDK have a plastic screen).

    • @MolliOlli182
      @MolliOlli182 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Now that I checked aliexpress, they do ship those with a tempered glass protector. The clear one looks nice i must say but I still think the pocketgo looks more comfortable to hold because those curved edges. And overall it just looks more premium than the LDK boxy case that looks like something straight out of a 3D printer. I’m not saying the LDK looks overly cheap or bad quality by any means. It just does not have that nintendo-feel. The pocketgo seems to have some of it.

Got mine in the mail yesterday! My main focus for using the PocketGo was for playing SNES, NES, GENESIS and GBA games. What I discovered so far. GENESIS, GBA and Atari 2600 roms work flawlessly and the games are automatically in a 4:3 aspect ratio screen! NES and SNES work but doesn't run as smoothly. NES and SNES roms have minor sound glitches and a small bit of frame skipping. The PocketGo plays mp3 and wav. very well. It plays mp4, avi and mkv with several glitches (it could use a better video player). Nice feature in which you could load movies or mp4s onto this handheld, just which it worked properly! The handheld will remind you of the GBA micro but an improved version with a slightly larger viewscreen, an SNES gamepad button layout which gives you 2 extra buttons, the ability to play mp3s and wav files and the ability to play other retro game consoles such as the GENESIS. Also, the build quality for this handheld is top notch! It has a bit of weigh for it's compact size, doesn't seem cheaply made at all.
I've tried to use a different SD card with my own roms loaded. A 64GB Samsung, but has been unsuccessful with getting my SD card to work onto the PocketGo. We will need tutorials on how to load our own games as well as emulators on SD cards and what card capacity to use.
Regardless of the issues, I'm glad I got this! I used to have a GBA micro several years ago and regret getting rid of it. Again, this PocketGo does play GBA, Atari 2600 and GENESIS games smoothly and flawlessly. Atari 2600 and mp3s was not in my original plans for my PocketGo, but I just happened to try them and to my surprise it works well! I was also hoping for all games to be in 4:3 aspect ratio and it is for the PocketGo! Most retro handhelds today don't have the 4:3 aspect ratio and the game screen is often stretched. A stretched screen is a problem, especially for billiards games because the balls are not perfectly round and are smashed. I'm only hoping, this device will get a better video player as well as an improved updated NES and SNES game emulator. Also, hope the creators for this handheld or someone else will develop a hard carrying case for this.

I can confirm the light leak on my unit too. It's not super bad, but it's distracting. I find the launcher a bit clunky with inconsistent button use between emulators, but that's to be expected for something that was cobbled together from assorted linux packages.
Playing Megadrive games on it seems to be the sweet spot for performance. They work flawlessly and you finally have enough buttons to make that work.

I was able to configure my SAMSUNG 64GB micro SD card for my PocketGo. I still don't regret buying this little handheld! Several months before buying the PocketGo, I purchased the Sega Ultimate Portable Game Player (handheld console similar to the PocketGo). I have to say that the PocketGo runs GENESIS roms much more smoothly than the Sega Ultimate Portable Player. To give an updated to my previous PocketGo update. The PocketGo runs GENESIS, GBA (and all other Gameboy games), NES, Atari 2600, MAME, NEO GEO and LYNX well. On the otherhand, Playstation and SNES is a NO GO for the PocketGo. You can run Playstation and SNES on the PocketGo, but there are too many glitches to actually enjoy it. The same for MP4s, they don't run well. Mp3s run great on the PocketGo. So I'll just say that SNES, Playstation and Mp4s do not work for the PocketGo at this time. Who knows, there may be a firmware version that will fix all of this in the future. As for now, I didn't bother with adding SNES, Playstation and Mp4s to my PocketGo. What I do have for sure is the entire game library of the GBA, GENESIS, Atari 2600, and NES. I also have lots of Mp3s in specific folders added to my PocketGo. Those 5 things I mainly run on my PocketGo and they run well! I love word games, so I play GBA's Bookworm, Scrabble Blast, Scrabble Junior and Family Feud. Frank Thomas: Big Hurt Baseball, Minnesota Fats: Pool Legend, Pac-Mania and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine are four GENESIS games I mainly play. From the NES, I like to play Lunar Pool. From Atari 2600 I like to play Berzerk, Dark Cavern and Pac-Man 2600. Those are just some among many of the games I like to play.

@@chigyver I also have a PSP Go here and am thinking about getting one just because of the worry free factor about carrying it arround EVERYWHERE.
I would feel sad if my PSP Go got robbed, damaged or something, as this thingy it's quite a hassle to find used in pristine condition as mine is.
Also, it charges with a regular USB and not that proprietary Sony charger, that's a plus to carry arround!

I see a lot of people make comments about screen tearing, but I mean, its easy to complain about that when you can rewind a video and watch it 10 times to see everything wrong with it.
But as long as the screen tearing isn't worse than the New Bittboy, then you wont notice it when you're actually playing it, and even if you do, you won't notice it 3 hours later when you are use to it.

We need a 1 to 1 vs the new LDK landscape.
The LDK is a dual core and the Pocket Go is a single core, but with a higher frequency.
We must have general per console performance test. I am not expecting metrics like a tech youtuber, but we need to know what consoles play better on which handhelds.
I suspect GBA runs as good or better on the pocket go, but playstation MAY run a little bit better on the LDK.
I would love to see a handheld under $70 play playstation... but I suppose we may be stuck with running ps1 on the GPD or on a cellphone... which BTW cellphone emulation is great. Izzy has a great video of that on this channel.

Final Fantasy Origins, Anthology, Tacticts, IV, Alundra and Legend of Mana run fine-ish. Suikoden 2 has some slowdowns during fights, same for vandal hearts and wild arms. I find Breath of Fire 3 to be simply unplayable. But I'm a picky guy, they all perform better than tony hawk 2. That's all I tried. Most of the above run just fine on the LDK, probably due to the 128Mb RAM compared to the Pocket Go's 32Mb.
