Just got mine today. Definitely smaller than expected. Brandons camera view makes it look bigger than it actually is. Still its pretty cool to have for $40.
I can't play them on here unfortunately, it's just too much, especially with the audio stutter. It would take you a very long time to complete a PS1 game on this thing due to it being very slow.
So I wonder if there's any chance they could fit a 2.7" screen in there without having to alter things too much? I would really love to see that in the next revision!

I love that this comes with 44 "Ports" games. I also found an NSF player (NES sound format music file) online & installed it to it, and a collection of literally ALL NSFs AND THEN SOME, so I have a cheap $29.99 handheld with thousands upon tens-of-thousands of games on it plus more NES music than I'll ever listen to in my lifetime. This thing is great. Glad I grabbed one before it went out of style. Maybe they can still be found on Temu?
Pretty awesome little console for the price. Can't wait for mine to come in the mail! The only complaint I have about it is that it only has a paltry 32MB of RAM. This is a device that could certainly use more RAM than that and it would likely have better emulation of both SNES chip games and certain GBA games if it had even just double what it has now. As of now there are still some games that need frame skipping to play decently which is just no good when the cost difference between 32 and 64MB of RAM is so miniscule. Heck, they might as well just use 128MB of RAM as that might even allow it to support PS1 games properly as they run very slow on the device currently. The CPU itself is more than capable, so I really do hope to see an upgrade in RAM size one day in a future revision as it's really a shame to see it be bottlenecked by a lack of RAM. If they ever do that I will most certainly buy that version to replace the current one.
Thanks for the review. Honestly I believe all these emulator handhelds are made by the same manufacture somewhere in China and are being shipped with different titles. I was pretty happy with my RS97 for a while (with custom firmware of course). then I went back to retroarch on PSvita and honestly it's the best retro emulation experience...
After purchasing the V2 of the Bittboy, I was looking forward to the Pocket Go. I decided against purchasing one until I saw/read reviews about the product. My main purpose for wanting one is for the ability to play SNES, Genesis n GBA roms. However, I knew the frame rates for the SNES n Genesis were going to be slow and jaggy, which is a shame after the hype they have been putting out. Its also the reason why Im waiting for an updated version (just like the Bittboy) to see if they’ve improved on the software. But for the price itself, its a bargain.
I really was looking for a handheld console and if it isn't this one it'll most likely be the other one that you showcased on your video that played GameBoy Vance cartridges as well as being able to run emulation I think it was called the big boy got to go to your video to get safari
TBH people are making too much deal about the screen tearing, but it might be due to the fact that i'm not butt hurt that much about it.... i have it for a week now and only seen screen tearing 2 times. The only issues i have with it is software-based which no one mentions, sometimes the games might crash or not load but its super rare. And the other problem with it is that the speaker makes weird noises when there is no music being played, but if you lower down the volume than you won't hear it much, since the music covers it completely. All in all, to save everyone's time i will advise this: "If you are going for good design, build quality and games that don't require much performance(Zelda, Mario, etc) go for Pocket go. But if you want to play more performance heavy games go for LDK horizontal (+-60 dollars), or go for emulators above 100 dollars". Tbh people i would choose Bittboy just because the price is such a good bargain, the extra buttons look very nice and that sd card reader is a good touch+ it looks way more presentable to friends since you have that glass screen cover and well shaped design. Have a good one everyone, hope i helped you with your choice! ^^
Just checked ETA prime. His review shows it struggling with Yoshi's Island. So I am guessing most of SNES is playable, but some games may not work @100% Yoshi's island sets the bar pretty high for SNES.
The most significant thing about this device is that you can just tell that it's not some one off Chinese device meant to make money. Actual thought and effort went into crafting this thing. The specs for this device are quite low compared to even other comparable sized devices yet it runs games better than most of the others. This is because the company actually took the time to hand pick the very best emulators for the system that match up with the hardware specs the best. The company has also been VERY active with releasing multiple updates and revisions to the device which shows they are putting a lot of time and effort into it. It is clearly a work of passion vs just a one off product meant to bring in some money. If there is any Emulator based company to keep your eye on, it's BitBoy. They are the real deal.
I can't wait to get mine. I've owned another Bit Boy and it was okay, but I'm looking forward to adding games to this and playing them in the old GBA form.
I hope you can adjust the screen brightness on this, as this screen seems pretty dark compared to the last version of the BitBoy. Seems the colors are less vibrant as well. I rather liked the old screen better I think.
Is there a better alternative to the bittboy pocketgo v1 in October 2020? I like the size especially so form factor is a big deal for me. To put a portable in my pocket again would be awesome.
@@RetroDodo CFW is custom firmware. Updating CFW may help the BBPG run emulators more smoothly, but it would be better to focus on the development of the emulators themselves. On a side note, I think a game like Castlevania Symphony of the Night would play decently on this device as is, although it is lacking buttons.
How do I run Pokémon from GBA? I get the same white screen from the PC emulators, but in their cases I only have to change the save format. Where do I do that on Pocket Go? Or there is no way to do that and then play?
It looks fantastic. My only concern is the volume wheel and power switch being in the sides. I'm worried if I were playing on this that the volume would go up and down because my hands and that there might be a chance that I accidentally turn off the system as well.
Seriously, just a bit more RAM and it would probably run those PS1 games just fine. The CPU is certainly strong enough for it. The thing only has 32MB of RAM which is just not going to cut it for PS1 Emulation. If it had 128MB of RAM then it would likely play those games smooth as silk, and might even be able to support some other systems such as N64 and the like. There is certainly a whole heap of potential here. Hopefully we will see an upgrade one day to this already awesome machine.
skins4thewin buy the ldk? Made by the same Chinese company. They are just rebrand out side of China. But really the LDK and bittboy are manufactured in China as two different models of the same devices. The LDK uses the R97S (coolboy) cpu and has the 128 ram. The thing is, the companies buying and selling these to outside of china, are getting China’s surplus units. My research as turned up, they’ll get revisions at the same time we are getting their old stuff. When you stop and think about it, it makes a lot of sense. It fully explains new bittboys being pumped out like water

If they ever update the LDK similarly to the BitBoy then sure, I might go for that, but they have done such a good job with this newest version of the BitBoy that I really would just love to see them upgrade the RAM on it. I really don't think they even need to touch the CPU because I think it's perfectly fine and powerful enough to emulate all of the target systems. It really is the 32MB of RAM that is holding it back.

I have not seen this level of revisions for any other handheld of this kind in the industry up to this point, nor have I seen this level of attention to detail, such as really focusing on improving the individual parts on the machine such as the screen, buttons, etc. It is apparent that the company actually cares about the quality of this product and that is an EXTREMELY rare thing to see out of a Chinese product, especially one such as this which is usually rushed and pushed out just to make a buck. The LDK also has enough differences from the older vertical BitBoy design where I would say it is not the same product. If the CPU and RAM are completely different then it can't really be the same product. I mean the sizing and button layout isn't even identical on the two units, nor are the side controls.

Ive recently ordered the BittBoy PocketGo and a SD card with preloaded games that came as a package deal with it.. New to this stuff and may be a dumb question but is it possible to play the same SD card/Games on a different emulation system like the LDK or RS-97 ? Love the channel BTW. - Emulation Noob
The GameCube had the layout which he must have had in mind when testing the BittBoy Pocket! A & B are where B & Y would be and A & X are where X & Y would be. It used to confuse me too until I got a Wii U which had the layout used on the BittBoy! I know some other consoles must have had this layout too but the Wii U was the one that made me do the jump from the GameCube for me!
Ok so I’m confused, does it already come with games in the Micro SD card or do you need to download them yourself? Also, if it does, is Zelda Minish cap already on there or do I need to download it?
It's a great handheld. I would personally remove the playstation games and just have only handheld games on it, lynx, gamegear, GBA and whatever else is out there. The only thing I find with nes and SNES console games in screens like that is everything seems like your looking at it from a far. Handheld specific games are geared better for those size screens. I too am liking the handheld.
Oh, and the screen size.... The screen size is TINY on this thing, even smaller than a Gameboy Color! I would REALLY love to see an XL version of this system with at LEAST a 3.5" screen. Please BitBoy, make it happen! I would GLADLY pay and extra $20-$40 for a bigger screened version of this thing!
With they kept it in the bitboy shell. could have bumpers like the retro mini did. Just my preference. Other wise pretty cool :) wish playstation played better though. I want something that does both
Generally better to wait, and when you find out that v2 is just as good as v1 ( which sometimes happens w/products) you will get the advantage of not worrying about early adopter blues, and benefit from sales discounts

Only non-polygonal PS1 games run well. Which still leaves a lot to play. Also, there is an overclocking option in the software.
Of you over clock it does ps1 then run well?

The ps1 games look promising though. It can be easily fixed with a CFW update. Also, the BittBoy PocketGo doesn't have enough buttons for it though...

I'll be honest that will rarely happen. Your fingers are slightly bent meaning they'll never touch the sides. :)

Resident Evil 1 on the retromini played pretty good, maybe when I get this product I can test and see if Resident Evil 1 works for that.

Did you try the scph1001.bin bios for the console emulation. That should help speed it up.

The GameCube had the layout which he must have had in mind when testing the BittBoy Pocket! A & B are where B & Y would be and A & X are where X & Y would be. It used to confuse me too until I got a Wii U which had the layout used on the BittBoy! I know some other consoles must have had this layout too but the Wii U was the one that made me do the jump from the GameCube for me!
Does formatting the sd card before even turning on the system mess up the pocket go?

Ok so I’m confused, does it already come with games in the Micro SD card or do you need to download them yourself? Also, if it does, is Zelda Minish cap already on there or do I need to download it?

It's a great handheld. I would personally remove the playstation games and just have only handheld games on it, lynx, gamegear, GBA and whatever else is out there. The only thing I find with nes and SNES console games in screens like that is everything seems like your looking at it from a far. Handheld specific games are geared better for those size screens. I too am liking the handheld.
How do u download games? Don’t you take take the SD card out of the system put it in a USB and download your rooms on that?

Oh, and the screen size.... The screen size is TINY on this thing, even smaller than a Gameboy Color! I would REALLY love to see an XL version of this system with at LEAST a 3.5" screen. Please BitBoy, make it happen! I would GLADLY pay and extra $20-$40 for a bigger screened version of this thing!

With they kept it in the bitboy shell. could have bumpers like the retro mini did. Just my preference. Other wise pretty cool :) wish playstation played better though. I want something that does both

Generally better to wait, and when you find out that v2 is just as good as v1 ( which sometimes happens w/products) you will get the advantage of not worrying about early adopter blues, and benefit from sales discounts

You need an SD card reader but it comes with a usb one just in case your computer doesn't have one
