I started programming my own logic pro api (sort off) for this using python. I’m going in deep and control absolutely everything. One thing that’s going absolutely killer is that it will have unlimited banks and encoders and fader pages! All color coded, with custom names and everything. I can’t wait. I’m writing the code as of this moment and I hope to finish before years end.
Love this MIDI controller, so powerful.. Had it for less than a year and still trying to learn all of the functionality, I use it with the Peak, TR-8S and TD-3 so far. Thanks, I am keen to see what else you have to show regarding it.
Thanks for these videos! I rented an SL MKIII and it is obviously very powerful but I'm still trying to wrap my mind around some of the features. When building chords like that, is there any way to "lock" them so that any played notes while holding the pad down don't get added to the chord?
Thanks!!! I haven't found a way to do it live. I theory you could program your chords on zone 1 in your sequencer. Then, play the notes live in another zone. That's the only thing I could think to get you close to a performance with both
I am looking for a newer midi controller keyboard that has sequencing. I know that this board was introduced like 6 years ago but would you still recommend it today? I actually have a Ableton live suite license and bought the push2 awhile back. I just last year bought the little brother to this board the launchkey 61 mk3 but now I think I should have just gotten the SL MKIII instead. Do you still feel that it is the best midi controller keyboard available or is there something better nowadays? Thanks for the information.
To be honest that's a really tough question. I personally love the keyboard it was light years ahead of my M-Audio Keystation. If you feel like you could take advantage of its features then its definitely worth it. But I would say that there are a lot of good options available. I personally bought the board for the scales mode, that alone helps get me out of beat block. Hard part is will they launch a SLMKIV Version in the near future IDK. I would only buy something if you feel like it will absolutely help you with your music production.
Unfortunately it looks like they are still only on 1.4....... It would be nice if they pushed another update for the board. It sill has a lot of life left in it IMO.
Hey Bro I have Yamaha Montage and the SL MK3 I have try to play from the MK3 the sound of the Yamaha montage using midi cable but I could not find the way to make work? Thanks
I had a similar issue when trying to control hardware keyboards( fantom and the Juno G) 1st, are you running out of midi din 1 or 2 on the back of the MKIII? 2nd and probably the most important once you run the OUT MIDI from the SLMKIII into the IN MIDI on your Montage. You will need to change setting onto your Montage M. That way, it can accept input from the SLMKIII. For me, on the fantom, I had to change the input on the fantom to remote control on, I believe. Otherwise, the board won't accept midi coming into the Montage M. Here's a link down below for the Mantage M. Let me know if that helps. I'm doing a video soon about hooking up hardware gear to Ableton. Obviously that's not exactly your issue. However, I did need to overcome the fantom receiving external midi input. manual.yamaha.com/mi/synth/montage_m/en/om01basicoperation0330.html
Hi Bro, Yes I will try to do that. I am so happy that I found your channel, I think you are present to us new product in your tutorials, we don`t have more information about the MK3 and Hardware integration. Thank you very much. Have a great day, Rafael.

There's definitely a lot to explore and to expand on thanks!
