From the Field -- XFly T-7A Red Hawk 64mm EDF Jet Assembly & Flight Review

  • We have a bonus upload this week looking at the new XFly T-7A Red Hawk 64mm EDF jet. This is a really nice looking little model with one of the smoothest finishes on a foam jet that I have seen! The model itself assembles easily and really flies nicely and the sound in flight is quite incredible as it sounds almost real. I'm hopeful we'll get to see a larger one of these at some point, it's a pretty cool looking jet. #TheRCGeek #T7RedHawk #NewProduct

    Glad to see a different, lesser modeled EDF jet. For a 64mm bird, she sounds amazing! I'd probably lose the fixed gear and go for a hand launch.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed on something different. I’m hopeful we’ll see a larger one at some point. would look nicer without the gear. I’m a terrible hand launcher, so I won’t even try, haha! It is a little awkward to try and grasp though as it’s actually pretty wide across the bottom.

    • @jonbarnes7877
      @jonbarnes7877 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thercgeek Yeah, Chris this one might require an assistant to hand launch ... at least until you get the toss perfected? I used to fly these smaller jets just about every outing but I have drifted away from the 50mm/64mm airframes. My hand launch technique has probably staled somewhat. I sometimes go with a two handed overhand toss when the fuselage form factor makes it tough to grip. I was born with small hands, which surely doesn't help.😂

    Just maidened mine today…..very, very quiet. I found the recommended aileron throws very anemic (and I am not a yanky bank flyer). That is easily fixed. Nice flier. Even though it is quite fast it seems like it needs a bit more power….I'm hoping some high C batteries will fix that. Fit and finish is beautiful. Only 2 minute flight on 2200 4s…..I see some guys have stuffed 3200's in there….I will have to try that…👍👍

    I feel like anyone who's come off any of the Freewing 64mm series... mig, lippisch etc, will find this a little slow. Even on 4s. I bought an F22 with a 64mm fan and even on 4s it just felt like I was flying a kite. Nowhere near the speed of the lippisch P.15 that cut through the air, rolled like a drill bit and glided like a sailplane. I've not found a plane I've liked more. I'm glad people have this plane and many others, but it reinforced the decision to get the P.15 and I haven't looked back since.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair enough. The lippisch is a cleaner aerodynamic design, so I’m not surprised that the performance would be better. This lippisch tailless designs are pretty incredible and make for good flying models. The me163 is a really good and clean flying one also.
