Each and every bounce, the plane was like, not yet.... nice try..... nope .....OK!! I don't own this one but I do have the Xfly A-10. It's been in the box for over a year now. Great vid and review, super flying as usual, thank you. As I have this bird I can attest your review is spot on. One thing you did not mention, unless I missed is the finish on the Xfly birds are fantastic. As I fly off of grass, perfectly maintained at 1/2" and rolled each week, with a bad shoulder, I always fly with the gear and found the 2200 pack is the sweat spot for grass and gear. BTW, I actually used the same receiver. I just got the 80mm version, yet to fly, waiting for spring to finally break in the east. If the 80mm flies as good as the 64mm, it will be a keeper!

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much! The finish was what I'd expect on a plane at this price point. Pretty good. That 80mm should fly even better! Enjoy!

    Yet another 64mm EDF review where the subject sounds better than my Stinger 64, has much better take off performance and looks easy to hand launch, which the Stinger isn't (I only use it from it's fixed gear now). Maybe there has always been something wrong with my Stinger ... This plane looks excellent but I am very eager to see the A10 review as I've always fancied one of those ...

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, yeah it does sound good. I flew a 4s Stinger years ago, I remember it did sound like a hair dryer but I liked that it had a rudder...knife edged well. I'm looking forward to that A-10, should be fun!

  • @apoczombie9710
    @apoczombie9710 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought one of these as my first EDF a couple months ago and I absolutely love it; having AS3X on it really dials it in and helps make up for the lack of rudder. If you plan on running it with the gear on as jet trainer I highly recommend the front landing gear upgrade as it eliminates a lot of that ground bounce. Keep up the great work AV8R!

    Hey Adam, great video. I love mine, great flyer for sure, I left the nose wheel backward, then switched over to the sprung upgraded nose gear, which is a nice upgrade.
    So I ended molding mine to death. I added rudders, 60amp Avion esc with reverse thrust, ar630 as well, with an RC Geek afterburner and a 6s 2200kv 64mm edf. I run an 1800mah 6s battery and might be going back in the stock motor. It seems to take 6s well on the bench. As is, it hit 110 mph, and it's a beast. I absolutely love it.

    I always wish, on flight reviews, the reviewer would explore slow flight to a full stall, so we can see how slow it can fly and what the plane's stall characteristics are like. Is there any chance of you adding that to your reviews?

    Awesome flight and sound! In the first flight you use 3200mah 4s. That lipo is 380gr. A little heavy i think. How was the flight? Didn t it nose heavy?

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's a heavier battery for sure, but it flew fine. Not nose heavy at all when the battery is where it should be. Our CG is rear of where the manual calls for. Check out the set up chapter and set up page.

    Hi great review. Is it true that you need to place safe reciever near the Cg.or can it be placed, like yours near front? Will safe and as3x/safe work ok with the RX near front ? Thanks

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They AS3X works fine in other positions, and SAFE works somewhat well, however SAFE is optimized by getting it closer to the CG. Same goes for trim. AS3X can work with a good bit of trim set, but if you're using SAFE you need to mechanically adjust the surfaces so there is very little or no electronic trim set.

    can I ask a question? do you modify or change another higher kv EDF unit, your plane seems more powerful , especially vertical climbing. I recently bought a new t7a , have installed but not maiden, I test running the motor but seem not power enough, I now use 3S battery

    Hi. So hard to get a reply out of TH-camrs. I hope you do. I’m almost 50, been flying since I was 8 when I built my Eaglet 50…..after taking 10 yrs off or so raising my kids (and owning 10-20 Horizon foamies) I fly on Safe now and can’t seem to figure out how to get back to regular flying. Do you have any suggestions?? I panic when I flick off Safe now. But Safe has become sooooooooo..boring. But then I get paranoid on as3x only. I wish I’d never met Safe….

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. That is the issue with SAFE. It's great tech, but meant to be used temporally. You are right to want to wean yourself off of it.
      Ok, so first thing...when you flip that switch from SAFE to AS3X if the plane changes direction without you touching anything, you need to get an experienced pilot (or a comfortable one) to help you trim it out and get the control surfaces mechanically adjusted. When you flip that switch in level flight nothing should happen until you input something. Part of your nervousness could be that it does bad stuff the second you flip the switch without your input, so now you're on your back foot having to correct for something you didn't do.
      Once that is done it might be easier for you. If that alone doesn't do it you may consider getting the RealFlight sim. It's great being able to practice knowing that if you crash, you just hit reset.
      The other thing is, and you may not want to hear this, but you may just have to focus more. Get yourself mentally prepared. You're going to have to switch SAFE off and suffer through getting your chops back. Keep it off a little longer each time, remember you can hit it later and still save the plane. If you crash you crash...part of learning. Nobody will die, you just may lose a foamy or two. If you do crash one, fix it. It can look ugly, thats even better...once it has "character" it can be a beater...a plane that is no longer pristine that you're not so nervous flying. You may also find that after a couple of minutes with you not switching back your nervousness goes away a lot...either way, you have to commit to it sometime. Maybe consider getting help from an instructor to build your confidence if need be.
      Whatever you decide to do, best of luck my friend!
