Awesome bike ..80's and 90's bikes were better built than the new stuff I know I still have a couple of them and they have never missed a ride ..cant say it for my new stuff
enduro trucker Ernie Desjardins the frames break in front of the air box and leak oil out of the frame. Other than that they are mint. Mine had a Baker motor with a transmission mod. I can’t remember something to with the choke done to the stock carb because I didn’t like the aftermarket flatslide pumper. Scott Summers suspension ... seems like an air box mod too. Im 6’4 I had a top clamp ... oh my favorite mod was a Works Connection clutch lever. I really enjoyed it. This video is fun.
About how fast does this bike top out at? I googled the XR 250r and it said the top speed is 87mph, which is way faster than I thought. I rode an XL600 in the early 90s. I think it was a late 80's model and it did around 100mph top end, but that was geared more for the street so... 4 strokes are a lot of fun. All that low end torque feels awesome.
that track,,im gobsmacked that's the best track on youtube.for sure..i wd of been off the bike on first lap,a 600 that's heavy to ride round though, but u nailed it
puke toucher I’ve only ever ridden a XR650L. It belonged to a friend of a friend. Unfortunately it was only on the street and not the trail. It was pretty cool for what it was, but I still prefer the 98 FX 501 Hüsaberg I raced in 98, 99, and 2000.
Nicely done sir, This looks like Florida but I could be wrong. I love doing Grand prix races also out here in Az. Great riding! I always love when you come back by the pits and people cheering.
Not trying to be that guy, but... Was the hardest thing about that race doing it on a XR 600? The track itself looked to be fairly easy. I’m not saying I’d run AA/Pro, but would feel confident in my ability to not embarrass myself.
Crazy thing is it looked like you blazed faster through the trees than the open sections.. no offense meant, but I’ve seen some of your other races and I know from watching those you can ride that beast way faster !! Heck, I’ve seen you go from last place to first kicking ass!
Nice job on that old heavy tank! It's smart to start slower and wait to you get your rhythm before you pick up the pace. Especially on that bike.I had the same bike so I know. There way to heavy for offroad racing in my opinion. There awesome on fire roads though!
So how do you like the 600 vs the 650L. Seems it would be a little lighter, but from the outside it looks slower. It must be a little easier to toss around in those tight corners. Great job as always and thanks for sharing with us.
@@fastguysslowbikes Understood. Looks like a fun time to me and i look forward to watching more of ya thumping around. Best videos on youtube......but i do miss the horn. LOL
I had a 88 modle. I didnt have a tach but in my estimation it was on the down hill by 7k rpm. However, by 2.5k it was getting into the meat of the band. Never should have sold it and I say this with a 2016 yz250x with all the goodies parked outside.
Ah.... No horn.... Beep beep...beeeeppppp.....Lol. Do you find much of a performance/handling difference in the xr650l and xr600r? I remember your older videos on the L model... And I second the question about bike specs/setup..... ? Thanks and nice video
Awesome riding:) Brakes getting HOT, I have had the same problem with my xr650l and xr650r and have lost the breaks before, NOT FUN! I now run the Motul RBF 600 brake fluid and have had no brake issues in ten years, no matter how hard I ride:)
Lets be bonest, they are crap. I've nothing against XRs, I still have and love my XR400, which has the best brakes on any XR ever made, but it comes nowhere near as good as the worst I've experienced on any KTM I've owned and ridden.
Man I rode a 96 XR and I never had any complaints with braking and neither did Scott Summers.Id get squealing pretty bad in some long tight stuff but they served me pretty well.I had a husky 510 though that I'm pretty sure had brakes made of cheddar with pine rotors
@@noidontthinksolol 1. They may be the same in some models and countries but the weigth difference between the bikes are 40pounds...therefor huge difference in actual performance if the are... 2. The Last Samurai - Riding the the Mighty 'Ol XR! - Scotty Summers would be Proud! - Cheers 👍😉🇦🇺
Love XR's The only bikes you can go fast on while staying seated most of the time.
Hahaha, only bike where the tires never leave the ground on a jump with all that hoagie travel. I can’t till if he’s in 1st or 17th gear
@@HardEnduroLlewellynLol, I’ve only been riding a few months and I’ve gotten my XR airborn trail riding multiple times.
I had an ‘86 XR600 and man are they fun. They handle remarkably well for their weight in my opinion!
Awesome bike ..80's and 90's bikes were better built than the new stuff I know I still have a couple of them and they have never missed a ride ..cant say it for my new stuff
That track looks like a ton of fun to ride.
This is one bike I want to own. I love the old xr600. I rode lots of them but never owned one. Wheelie for blocks on these awesome machines.

Tight course for a 300 pound bike that's for sure
The 86 was 260

Nice job jumping that ol" 600 Thumper.
Some mx , enduro x and xc all in one. Nice layout.
I had an uncorked 93XR600r, man I miss her!
Great ride my dude! Folks that haven't rode a 600 or 650L have no idea the torque available on that bottom end!
puke toucher they also will not be able to comprehend how much these bikes weigh. Great machine though.

What a great Machine, probably my favorite of all time......Thanks for all the great videos bro!
Your smooth efficient style is inspirational 😀
Looks like a fun track. The XR did great.
Been waiting for videos of you kicking butt on an Xr!

So cool! Wow nice race on Honda XR 😃
i had a 1991 xr600 just put it in gear and ride never had a problem. here in oz our scott summers was john hederics, good to see the big girl fly
You're our hero
The xr 600 isn't really the best mx bike. But it won the baja 1000 12 times. More then any other bike...just sayin
That's a big old beast. If Scott Summers only had a GoPro! Course is sweet! I'd totally race my 690 on that.
Can you Tell which Suspension you ride? Or is it all Standard? Some details about the bike would be great. But awesome ride!!! Give US more :-)
Those XR thumpers are the bomb
XR LEGEND EVER!!!
thanks for keeping the camera clean :)
Considering you were racing against 100kg bikes you done extremely well.
Not trying to be that guy, but... Was the hardest thing about that race doing it on a XR 600? The track itself looked to be fairly easy. I’m not saying I’d run AA/Pro, but would feel confident in my ability to not embarrass myself.
Awesome riding, and great footage once again
No ball on the clutch lever brave man I saw a friend get a horrible injury from that.

I didn’t know they allowed electric start on hair scramble races
Just doesn’t seem fair to the ones that have a kick starter. I guess it takes too much effort to kick start a dirt bike these days.
The modern thumpers spin up a bit quicker other than that bro kicking arse as per usual jacob.keeping smooth like Bailey 👌
One word: EPIC
Man wherever your at these harescrambles look sweet. I'm curious to see how you could do on that thing in a tennessee harescramble
I dont wanna see that bad lol Its a struggle to keep myself racing. But I think it's awesome you racing that thing shows it's the rider not the bike
After riding all these different bikes, what bike do you think you are fastest on for harescrambles and enduros?
I would love to bring one of my vintage bikes down an run with you guys. But Florida is a long ways away.
Nice job on that old heavy tank! It's smart to start slower and wait to you get your rhythm before you pick up the pace. Especially on that bike.I had the same bike so I know. There way to heavy for offroad racing in my opinion. There awesome on fire roads though!
Great Riding Jacob !!
What were some of the other bikes in your class that the XR600 was competing against ?
Great VID , TY.
That’s cool stuff mate
Enjoy the bike life
Man 303 seems to have some serious power or some fresh freaking tires lol

Great video, fun to watch! Did you ever get more than 2500 rpm? 😁
Brian Krause part of the low rpm is he has a Lectron Fuel system components with the XR.. the torque comes on at right above idle.

That's lame the way they started it! Nice riding for being rusty? Lol Great videos Jacob! Keep em coming!
It’s the artist - not the brush!

Xr idling along
I’m the type of guy that would have had arm pump so bad that I would have sailed it into the canal on that first jump.
Hail Xr! i have a little 125 but i love her
Stabilized footage? And why no handguards on that thing
@@fastguysslowbikes You can get the clutch side brand new off rockey oem. Not the brake side though
Woooow

🇧🇷, Tive uma Xr200 também, aguentou muito desaforo.
A moto é top.
Where is this? I'd love to race my CR500 on this course!
You sir are insane

Stock suspension?
Used to have a 98 xr6, engine braking is the way to go because the brakes are made of cheese and wood

Only thing bad about riding the 600r is its not the 650r...ooh man what the brp can doooooo...shes got sooo much grrr under the tank
The one in my garage needs rebuild...when its done dont worry buddy ill ride the shit out of it,again 😁🤘
Wow !! This bike is a legend!
Check out our channel if you want, enduro riding in Greece with an xr600r 98 and a ktm 525.
✌️✌️
No Brasil só tem xr 200 ! Afff
I'll stick with the mx track lol
Very interesting bike. But cross-country is dominated by cross-bikes. In a rally, the xr600 would have destroyed everyone.
stop wiping
so much the camera
