I really appreciate that! I been trying to improve my riding technique by watching videos and so, but it's really difficult to me to stay in the correct position and maintain a good posture as I'm 6'6" and I stay really cramped on the bike. But other than that I really enjoy riding and I always have fun and that is already really important haha. Thanks for commenting and watching! Take care!
The 650r is a Legit Weapon! Designed as Water-cooled Improvement over the 600r Purely to Win Baja!! I'd Love to have one, they got Too $$$- Honda Should Bring it Back with Electric Start!!👍😁
It's in good shape overall, but the engine needs a complete rebuild from top to bottom, it has wear on almost every part you look at 😂. I'm surprised it continues running, refuses to die.. 400r is definitely nimbler than 600r, such a beautiful bike!

Yeah totally sounds sick I got 2 xr600s so many people seem to not rebuilt these properly either unfortunately this is the kind of place a stock xr600 was made for dunes and desert racing no wonder you can pull away from your pack even though this bullet proof engine is clapped out nice riding
When the XR can stretch its legs it can leave behind the Modern 450's - You have great Skill in the Sand I think that's the Biggest difference - Rider Skill 😎👍
That was a cool ride-along! Your bike sounds great! I've got a 1981 XR500R that I'm trying to sort out. I need to find someone who knows these things in central Maine
I haven't had the chance to ride a 400, but I believe it really depends on where you ride them, maybe in the wide open stuff where you only use 4th and 5th the 600 could have an advantage, but in many other scenarios the 400 could probably be faster as I heard is a lot more light and nimble than the 600. I had a 97 250r (pretty similar to the 400 in general except the motor) and despite the clear difference in power, it was so light and easy to ride that you could go wide open the entire trail and not be as near as tired as in the 600, that obviously was a faster bike, but much more heavy and with different ergonomics.
Neither are faster than the other innately imo at least. The 250 and 400 can be slammed a little more if only just cause the smaller surges and vibes from the power are less tiring. One does tight twisties a lil better the other does open riding a little better. Don't ever sell that 400 thats one of the bikes that I let get away.
I have a 2000 400r with pumper carb and aftermarket muffler. No other mods. And I have an 87 dual carb 600r that is low hour all original. Up to 40 mph or so I don’t think one is faster than the other. Above 40 the 600 just starts walking away. The 400 feels so much more refined though. Feels like driving a sports car compared to a 3/4 ton truck when I ride them back to back. Oh I forgot, both have 2003 CRF 450 forks on them.
Hay mucha diferencia en torque y estabilidad. La 600 hace mucha diferencia en lugares abiertos a alta velocidad. La 400 saca ventaja en pistas estrechas y bajadas por su menor peso y tamaño general.
Since basically 2020 the used market went away here in western new york. You need a few grand set aside for when you find a decent specimen within driving distance cause people are keeping them or buying them more often than selling.
These bikes will never get old eheh I use a 97 XR600 and I ride it every day to work and ride on trails, I cant see my self ever getting rid of this thing. You Sir are a beast hehe
They are the Chinese replica of the rox pivoting risers, they have been holding up fairly well, it's been more than a year since I installed them and so far so good, as you can tell in the videos there are almost no turns so I can ride mostly standing up, but in a more tight trail or maybe a track they are probably not the best option as the rise is considerable and makes it more difficult to turn the bike.
Sos un pilotazo! Tenés la suspensión trabajada o sigue original? Tengo una 250l 91, una 400 96 y una 600 94. El torque de la 600 es incomparable. En espacios abiertos es un misil. Saludos desde la Patagonia Argentina!
IMO the new crop are as good in terms of reliability as long as you are a casual rider and do regular maintenance. Honda will never bring this back even tho you could put them away wet and they still last forever. I mean hey, if Im wrong I would be ok with that.
As they say..."no replacement, for displacement" I had an '87 and a '97 600R. Both with suspension and engine upgrades. Loved them both, and ran the piss out of them. In '05, I drank the orange kool aid, and have 2 of them. Don't regret it...but I truly regret selling my '97 XR. KTM's are terrific....but there is just ....."something about XR's". I have talked to a lot of guys who have done the same thing, and feel the same way. I have ridden newer CRF's, that friends have.....great bikes! But.....like I said. There is just something XR's.
Love it, handfulls of throttle, soft sand, my old xr was clapped out like this and i gave it hell until oneday the driveshaft teeth became completely worn out and i sold it cheap :(
What a shame! I always run a 650R front sprocket installed backwards, doesn't get the chain aligned perfectly but at least gives a lot more life to the shaft!
i don't think you give yourself enough credit here either!.. You are one hell of a good rider too!

Yup why we can't have a modern push rod air cooled 4 stroke with good suspension blows my mind. Imagine a modern xr400 or xr600😱
Well a pushrod engine will screw it up from the start. That's why OHC took over.
@ekspatriat True but a modern push rod or ohc simple motor sounds great!
Nice! I took my XR650R out to the desert last weekend. So much fun. It's like riding a magic carpet.

Never had a chance to try a 650R, but heard that they are no joke! A real torque monster!
Such a nice bike, I wish I could see it all, seems like it's in good shape. I have a 400r and I love it
Also nice place to ride

my neighbour was supprised when my worked 600 motard with 14 40 gears gave his ducati a good run on the road
They are definitely a very good weapon on the road when you gear them low!!
@@rrivero7512 yeah, I wish they had a 6 speed because all of the power is torque and you can benefit from tall gearing on the 600

"Guy on bike ride around alone" Fixed your BS clickbait title
How much faster is the xr600 vs an xr400? I have a xr400. I'm guessing it is really noticeable in the taller gears?

91 xr250 is such a light bike its endless fun. Enough power to get out of any tight spots with ease

I’ve had a lot of bikes and my favorite is my XR, just such a beast, easy to ride, tons of power, just great.
What front tire are you running? Seems like it digs really well in sand
When you put 3 gear the 450 start going back😃😃 love the big pig in the dunes💪
Definitely really underrated bikes! They look slow but if you race the heck out of them they have some good potential!
What an amazing place to ride, where is it?
A good rider on a bad bike will be a bad rider on a good bike every time, you got some good Sand skills, props.
Thanks!!
Where are you guys finding those mint older XR's? Are they easily found where you are?
Since basically 2020 the used market went away here in western new york. You need a few grand set aside for when you find a decent specimen within driving distance cause people are keeping them or buying them more often than selling.
Just got a 95 250R. Rebuild will cost about twice the purchase price. But I love it. Worth every penny

I just wonder how good all the XR bikes would be if they brought them back and fuel injected them, and kept them mostly uncorked.
Would definitely be and interesting refresh without sacrificing reliability
