My 2009 Impala had P0455 and some mornings it would say “tighten gas cap” on the DIC. Well the prev. owner already replaced the gas cap. I checked the rubber and everything looked OK. Replaced that part in the video, the purge valve. Light went away. Came back a week later. This time it’s P0442. Replaced the vapor canister vent solenoid underneath the fuel fill door inside the fender. A couple months roll by and it’s on again. P0442. . . . . 😃
Yeah, this EVAP stuff is mostly just throwing parts at the problem until it goes away! Luckily the parts are all pretty cheap.
I used an ac delco one and it’s still coming back so I’ll try what you did
Good luck!
Yes I tried 3 acdelco valves and all failed. Smh. I guess I have to try another brand.
For the one who told u to speak up,he just hating everything sounds strong and clear
Ha, thanks for the feedback!
If it comes back again check the gas cap a leaking gas cap is a common cause for that code
It did come back. I changed the gas cap and the code went away on its own. Didn’t even have to clear it. I can’t say that the other parts were NOT the cause, but the gas cap was the final piece of the puzzle.
Happy to hear it went away ive been a mechanic for a lil over 20 years and almost every time ive seen the (small) leak in evap code The cause wa the fuel cap I doubt to code will return

Thank you for sharing your experience.. what about if the tank is capless like explorer 2010. The code comes back after 4000 km from last clearing.
@Blue-mine capless ? Pretty sure all vehicles have closed fuel systems this is because the vapor pressure of fuel is so high the flash point is quite a bit lower than room temp if your fuel system wasn't sealed Not only would it cause the low boiling point components to evaporate but as they boil off they raise the flash point even higher .. and of course having a big cloud of flammable fuel Vapors floating around your vehicle would be less than ideallpl
Thanks
👍👍
So what was the brand that worked and which one was leaking by?
I think Puengsi was the brand that worked. But I believe that all the Chinese knock-offs you’ll find on Amazon will be hit or miss. That was my experience.
Then again, even brand new AC Delcos seem to have problems, so the whole thing is probably a crapshoot.
@@CarsCraftsDrafts you should replace your vent valve solenoid and pcv valve and gas cap when replacing the your purge vale solenoid…Those are the most common p0442 codes, make all evap emissions work the way they should
@@559caliii why waste money on the vent valve. that works only when filling your gas tank. if the pump does not kick of before or trying to fill, the vent valve is working fine.
@@kennylavay8492 The one ur talking about is the vapor canister or charcoal canister, not the vent valve. The vent valve is more like a filter.
Do you have the part# and brand of the one that works?
I think Puengsi was the brand that worked. Part # 214-1105. amz.run/6BE5
But I believe that all the Chinese knock-offs you’ll find on Amazon will be hit or miss. That was my experience. More luck-of-the-draw than a particular brand being "better".
@@CarsCraftsDrafts thx a million. I ordered that same part and I hope for the best lol. If it goes out my next option would be to tune it out because I don’t have to worry about a smog test in NYC.
I did the test on that Puengsi brand and it was amazing not losing any PSI. Soon as installed in the car about a week later than damn code came back 😩
Try changing the gas cap. My code wound up coming back, but I changed the gas cap and the code went away on its own. I didn’t even have to clear it. I didn’t think it would work, but I think it was the final piece of the puzzle.
Did it ever come back? Just got this code on my silverado
It hasn’t come back yet. Fingers crossed.
It did come back. I changed the gas cap and the code went away on its own, I didn’t even have to clear it. Try that first.
Wish In had of come accross this last year. Could have saved a bunch. Learn from your mistakes.
The positive is that, even if you wind up chasing the problem like I did, all the parts are cheap.
Vacuum isn't PSI
You're right, vacuum is measured in InHG.
Put in boil water whith some rubber conditioner leaving for ten minutes try again same trik use for wind screen whipper blades I thin it will work first put in boil water with dish liquid to clean then whith rubber conditioner and water hot boiling
Can you please speak up can't hear you very well
Yup. Still trying to get the audio dialed in right. The lights in that shop create a lot of background humming.
