I’m in Cleveland! I thought it was cool too! I’ve only been here almost 2 years. Actually we were supposed to live in Chattanooga but when the company that hired my husband was looking for a bldg, they couldn’t find one that would work in Chattanooga... I think I’m glad..
I found your channel when your “buying our first house in Chattanooga, TN” video was in my suggestions. I was tickled because I live in Hixson - about 10 to 15 minutes away from downtown. I have watched several videos and think y’all are adorable! Welcome to Chattanooga and Merry Christmas!
Sara and Chris and Kramer. I find myself revisiting your Christmas tree post because it is uplifting and warm. Your attitude and charm make me feel so warm and happy inside. Thank you for sharing. See you in your next video. 😊
Do you think you could do a video on the different neighborhoods around the area? Best for families, best for hikers, hipsters, young couples, etc? My husband and I are looking for our new home base and Chattanooga is definitely a place we’re considering! ☺️
I had gotten tired of all the travel videos on TH-cam, so this is a wonderful change of pace. Your home is warm and perfect! You may find that traveling is for vacation and home is where the heart is ♥️
You will always remember your first Christmas tree in your first home. It ended up looking pretty good and the fun is in the memories. Oh next time try running the lights vertically, it is much easier and you can hide the wires by pushing them deeper into the tree. Tried it this year and I like how it looks. Merry Christmas.
This might not be the place to ask, but I just felt like I needed to ask... are you the same Maureen McDonald that went to elementary school with me @ SJS in Chattanooga? If so, its Hannah and I hope you are well.It has been so long ( 30+ years)!!!
Merry Christmas Chris & Sara. Your Christmas tree is pretty... Don't feel so bad.. It's the first Christmas tree at your new house and many, many more to come :-). Take care and enjoy a unique 2020 holidays.
I moved from Altoona Pa to Chattanooga Tn bck in 2011 . I've lived in 6 other cities 3 states and Chattanooga by far my favorite place. I have 3 children now and I'm here to stay and ride out this cities great atmosphere. I'm outdoors alot and love Downtown Chattanooga. I live in Hixson area which is a great place as well.
Our family friends get an ornament on every trip to a new place. There tree is all memories every year they get to relive. Yall can most certainly do the same... with your traveling it would be fun.
REAL TREE. Also.....start with lights at the top, move downward...that way the wires are closest to the electrical plug near the floor in the wall. My first year I made salt dough ornaments and painted them with enamel paint....Use the cookie cutters. Turn off the lights in the house....you will love the lights on the tree.
How nice to see you guys settling in to your new home and city. Enjoy your Christmas and stay safe. Look forward to seeing more of your adventures in 2021...
Real Tree for this Chattanoogan. Boy did they sell out fast this year. Congrats on your new home and perhaps we'll see you two around town. Merry Christmas
Happened on to your channel & binging on it lol. I love watching young couples building life together ❤ BTW the way you get your cookies to look like the photo, is to add additional m&m onto the top of the cookie once placed on baking sheet. They stay on top of cookie as they bake.
Real tree without a doubt. Makes your house smell so good. Your tree looked great once you got the lights & ornaments on it! I bought a Christmas ornament when I took my nieces on vacation every year while they were growing up. So much fun putting them on the tree because it brings back all those wonderful vacation memories when we’re decorating the tree. Hope you have a very Merry 1st Christmas in your new home!
Always a real tree... I’ve had both, needles fall from both... LoL Ornaments- you’ll love finding the ornaments in a variety of shops in Chattanooga. We have so many artistic people here... it won’t be a problem finding them
Your tree looks beautiful!!! We had real for the longest time until one real tree completely dried up and smelled awful (we weren't always the best at watering them either). Now we have had fake for 6 or 7 years and love it!!! Pre-lit is the way to go in my opinion.
I would like to give u one of the best advice while ur down town in Chattanooga especially make sure u carry hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes cause i saw u was at Miller park on on the swings and there's homeless people that haven't had a shower in days or months and people that are druk basically urine anywhere and on anything downtown so please carry sanitizer with you.

Even the surley teenager waxes nostalgic when they're hung on the tree. Hope y’all have a great Merry Christmas! Sending you virtual hugs & hope to visit Chattanooga next year (thinking positive - safe travel will be possible at some point in 21!)
Anybody remember Loveman's Department store? EPB took up the Christmas displays when they left downtown. The TREE IS NOT UGLY. LOL Channel All your Artistic skills. Ahh the foil trees with the rotating light lense red, green, blue, yellow. What a flashback...Merry Christmas!
When my kids were young we would buy a tree with the ball on it and plant it after Christmas. We planted 15 before we sold the house. It was made for good memories
Great video...I've lived in this area my whole life,47 yrs.I can remember the windows when I was a child.Sara, yalls tree is beautiful. We used to cut our own every year and let me tell ya,we had alot of jacked up trees..But u cant beat the smell of a real tree.Merry Christmas y'all. Welcome Home....
I grew up with real trees in Seattle but the last 3 tree's no matter what we did they would not drink. I do not know when they were cut but after searching and getting yet another that was on it's last legs and got so dry I had to take it down BEFORE christmas, I got a small 4 footer fake tree from big lots then went over to the dollar store and purchased 10 pics with faux pine branches, berries and ornaments attached. After putting on the lights I stuffed the pics in the sparse areas and it filled it beautifully. I added a few small of my personal favorites ornaments on as well and sat it on our corner round antique dining table. It is the most beautiful tree I have had in a long time. Sold. Being in a wood A frame house, not having a fire hazard in the house has been wonderful, we use fresh pine boughs cut from our own tree outside and replace them when needed so they stay fresh and smell wonderful! :)
If you like a tree for Christmas I would personally prefer one in a pot rather than a cut one. Then you can plant it somewhere afterwards. - Or use a tree in the garden or in a nearby forest and make it an outdoor adventure... covid save of course. Ah Batman... LOL... love it! Merry Christmas to Chattanooga! Have a lovely and great Christmas time and see you safe, healthy and sound back here soon. All the best from London, UK!
We had the same artificial tree for 24 years until my parents finally moved. I literally had to stuff broken “branches” in to hide the bare spots. Someday I’ll have a real tree, when I have my own family. You’ll remember that tree for years. Enjoy it. Merry Christmas!
My mom always stocks up on her Christmas decorations the first week of January because everything is on sale. Just don’t wait too long or everything is picked over. It is always fun to decorate for Christmas because you forget what you bought 11 months prior.
I got some really cool Christmas cards and ornaments and things from the Chattanooga Market, held on the weekends (this month in the Chattanooga Convention Center)!!!
That's right!! We completely forgot about the market even though several people recommended it! We need to try and make it down there before they close.
Used to be a real tree. Love the smell. But......over the last 20+ years in our house we have switched to fake. And....now we have one in almost every room for a total of 8. Plus one storage bin for each for ornaments. It's our "thing". Fake is no mess easy. Congrats on the house. And your tree looks great.
I grew up with fake I love them you don’t have to worry about watering and I have it up from Nov 13 and I have to admit I still have my smaller one up(I have 2) but I change up the decorations
My family moved to Chattanooga about 3 years ago. We live up in Harrison and love going over to Cleveland TN. It is wonderful over there, if you haven't been yet I recommend Bonlife Coffee Roasters. Hands down the best coffee in Tennessee!
I love the batman ornament. We have wonder woman on our tree. We do artificial because I like to start decorating early and I can pull it out of the attic in October if I want.
You should check out Jason drive in chattanooga. It's a neighborhood project of Christmas decorations. It's free but they do encourage can food donations that they bring to the local food bank
I haven't been at hot chocolatier in awhile or at the choo choo. Didn't know they have European hot chocolate. Sounds good. Keep warm. They change it up at EPB. Enjoy it. You should see rock city christmas lights.
I'm with Chris! Fake tree, pre-lit and rotating. My fiancé, Lee and I bought a 6 foot Christmas tree last year two days after Christmas with a lot of ornaments for under $100 at Walmart.
OMG you barely scratched the surface of the Bluffview Arts District, what about all the public sculptures? The Holmberg Bridge? The connection to the Historic Walnut Street Bridge? I going to need you clear future Chattanooga specific dialog with me. This is so exciting!
Y’all should grab an ornament in each new town you visit! Those are the best as you can recall each memory from that place as you put ornaments on each year.
@@chrisandsara We moved from Chattanooga before thanksgiving, we miss it! We’ve moved to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg Tn area to pursue a dream here! You guys are doing amazing, we’ve binged all your old vids (as a whole fam) & are up to almost current with the new van Reno. Keep it up!!
@@Freakinphillips oh that’s so encouraging!! Thanks, y’all!! We love hearing families enjoy our videos. ☺️ not sure if y’all saw the national parks videos, but we just made that playlist live again. Also living their life their way, very focused, very responsible, with my two dachshund grand dogs. Sorry; lengthy response. I'm following y'all!
@@chrisandsara Not a problem at all. This was a great video. Made me homesick. And Sara, one of the things I like about you is that you’re real and not one of those perfect Pinterest women. We need more realness. Merry Christmas, guys.
Growing up we always had real trees. Where we lived, we had several tree farms where you would walk around and find your "perfect" tree and it would be cut down for you. After that, up until about 8 years ago, I would still buy real but now, I have a fake tree. So much easier. Like Chris mentioned, no cleaning up the needles. I don't have to keep up with the watering of the tree. Plus I like to set up my tree early and keep it up a few weeks after the New Year. Your Christmas tree was beautiful. I love your decorations.
Another great video, you two! And I thought the tree was just FINE! (Better than some I’ve had in the past!) I’ve found nice ornaments for “firsts” at Walgreens. Neat Chattanooga Christmas tour. BTW your house looks SO cute-looking forward to a tour! Merry Christmas!🎄 for

you guys should really check out Jack Brown burgers downtown chatt! the food there is so good! also when the season gets going, come and check out a race at Boyds Speedway!
Motivated by variety, design, and simplicity, I lean towards artificial trees. I love seeing real trees when traveling or visiting other’s homes but try to keep things simple in my own home. 🎄🎄🎄🎄
2020: the ugly Christmas! honestly, you'll talk about that tree the rest of your marriage (ask me how I know!). seriously, don't compare your life IN ANY FORM to what you see on Pinterest or IG. the tree looked great after you put ornaments on it. I'm with Chris-fake and prelit. You can buy a scented candle to make it smell like the tree, but who needs needles to sweep? I did that for at least 10 years. Ornaments can be purchased at Hobby Lobby, Hallmark stores, Etsy, or anywhere along the way as you find them while you travel. The solid balls are what fill in until you have more ornaments that are sentimental. Don't buy ornaments just to buy them! Merry Christmas, you two (and Kramer)!
Cracker Barrel has great sentimental ornaments. Don't roll your cookies so large and check if your ingredients were room temperature...makes a huge difference..
It's so funny that you moved back to Chattanooga, because we're from Connecticut and moved to Seattle and now live on Whidbey Island. Mpy best friend from high school, moved to Chattanooga. Lol Does this mean they are the best areas of this country?

I don't have to keep up with the watering of the tree. Plus I like to set up my tree early and keep it up a few weeks after the New Year. Your Christmas tree was beautiful. I love your decorations.
There's definitely pros and cons to both but no clean-up is really nice with the fake tress!
All the best guys and a happy Christmas. xx

Perfect First Charlie Brown Christmas in your first home together ❤
Not skinny, perfect especially the burrito.
Love the smell of real but the ease of pre lighted fake. Perfect ending.

Agreed! The decorating is the best part! :)
You didn't go to a tree farm? Kittle tree farm is a good one in ringgold. Or wheelers in walker county

Dramatic pause......”Batman.” Omg we are rolling on the floor!!!!! Really?!?! You guys are hilarious!

Will do! Thanks for this Melissa!
Motivated by variety, design, and simplicity, I lean towards artificial trees. I love seeing real trees when traveling or visiting other’s homes but try to keep things simple in my own home. 🎄🎄🎄🎄
I'm in Oregon but you can visit my cousin Brenda at the markets they hold at the aquarium. She polishes stones and makes jewelry!
Y'all are adorable. Love your new home.
Welcome to the great city of Chattanooga Tn. I love living here myself.
Thank you Robert! We love it here.
Growing up we had a 3’ silver tree hated it had a light that turned and was red green an blue
My wife and I just moved back to Chattanooga as well. We had to go grab a Rock City Birdhouse ornament.
It's a Chattanooga Christmas staple!
Walmart. They even have a selection of Hallmark ornaments. Love their own, too.
Lol
Does this mean they are the best areas of this country?
I have been to Chattanooga it is a cute place.
