- In this video Mason goes over the various Containers on the market, the differences and similarities between them as well as some of the purposes and functions of the various mod's/options that are available.
Please be aware that this is all opinion and experienced based. Many of the container manufacturers offer extremely similar options. Please consult your rigger if you do want to test something new to find what would suit you best.

I jumped a Wonderhog with a pullout system. Main was a cruisair and a gq security reserve.
I’m still a fan of D-ring handles, although my latest purchase has been one of those low-profile handles for the reserve, simply because I prefer to have a visual and tactile check on both the full ripcord as well as the ball on the end that allows the handle to catch.
Yeh the low profile ones can be really good as well.

The only rigs iv owned is a Wings and a Icon. I can respect the UPT rigs since thats Bill Booths product. He is the legend so that one has to be best "probably". But still love my Aerodyne Icon

Mason, amazing video first of all. On the Icon one, the mechanism you have to deploy the pilot chute with the straight pin and not having it to be externally reachable, it looks and feels to me that the decision of deploying the chute needs to be much more precise and not like we see around were one simply pull the chute and leave the air from the pilot chute to pull the pin, right?

Yes it does, it's actually an older system than the throw away, but more issues can go wrong when packing them. Definitely safer than a throw away for if others bump ur rig tho
UPT doesn't offer chest rings on the Vector but pretty sure everyone else does. Generally all great rigs but, for me, Javs are the most comfortable... especially now I can reach my BoC :)

Not really a specific category as it was around before the throw away, But it is now recommended that you do get a fair bit of experience with the currently normal throw away system first. The main issues with the Pull out system is regarding packing as its slightly more technical and can have some issues if done incorrectly. I have another video on this too somewhere in the channel. I did over 4000 jumps before switching to the Pullout, so there is no rush, but I 100% prefer it now.

Have you needed to change the webbing on the direct pull? I've been running one for 70ish jumps. Webbing around the pin stitching is starting to fray, where it would meet the grommet.

No not yet, I have heard of this from another also. It could be a design fault. Iv been keeping a good eye on mine since my fired told me about it also. Maybe your pin is running on the flap that could move when you sit down. mine may not rub as it is hidden under the flap and has less friction. I get way more out of my closing loops surprisingly now too.

My bag is fitted for me but I use the belly band in case I don't pull my leg straps completely.. I like to fill tight in it :p

Love your content! If you could only jump 1 rig out of Jav or Vector what would it be? I love my old pre K series Jav. When it comes to ordering another rig in a few months I think ill chose Jav over Vector due to pin protection, riser protection, more durable cordura and sensible wait times. Personally Javs are a better more secure design. Be interesting to hear your opinions.
I’d actually agree with u, I jumped a vector for years, been through 4 of them actually. The one jav I had fit better than all of them and it was older. A lot of the speed guys all wear jav too as the riser covers are better at higher speeds. If I was buying and had to chose I’d go jav. Infinities are also really great, I don’t show one on here tho.
Ordering stock mirage g4.1 for first rig. Should I add a belly band if I'm a novice and not swooping? Any cons?
Can't hurt, u can always take it off if u didn't want to use it. My icon cones stock standard with it, I never use it but as I have no need. Good to have it as an option tho
which manufacturer has the best backpad in ur opinion? I'm between Javelin's SPYN backpad and Icon's Aerofit, but not sure what other manufacturers offer?
Hard to Say. I have the icon and have recently jumped the Jav with the Back pad, I prefer the icon but it was made for me and the Jav was for another. I have had many vectors before as well. they fit nice and tight but felt a bit like a little brick on my back. best thing to do is try them on but you don't really know until your in it in freefall and under canopy. Depending what you want its good to chat to your rigger about it as they will know more about which ones wear and tear more over time and other things like ease of packing and maintenance.
Have you had any issues with the rubber band slider holder? Particularly with it during a cutaway and possibly fouling up the main during a cutaway? I always used the magnetic ones but I would rather use the rubber band for simplicity and to save weight.

Nope, no issues, the only way I would have an issue when chopping with one of those stows is if I have stowed the slider already. This issue then would most likely be from a wrap. for the canopy to fail after I have popped my break and stowed my slider something really bad must of happened. If its a mall on opening then the rubber bands wont be an issue as I would not have gotten to that point of the opening procedure yet. In saying that then, you want to think of what you are most likely to have as a mal and why that is. how can you minimise those factors and are you happy/comfortable with those choice.
I also previously used a magnetic one as well, they were good but would come undone a lot easier even with strong magnets, and also when I was head up moving it would come undone and smash my head. If you see people with magnetic ones you may notice they sometimes wear out the reserve flap as well from excesive flapping on the container while in Freefall. If you want to use bands just make sure that you cut them in half to make them thiner incase of a hang up, that way they do break easier under a lot of tension. If you are really worried about a hang up still, use a removable slider.

hahahah, Good old vector Mafia, I used to be too. The biggest draw backs are that the Pilot chut definitely wears out quicker and it can also be a prick to close when you put the pin under the flap. You would have to be quite careful when putting it under there as you can bend and damage the flap that you are trying to put it under. Surprisingly tho, the closing loop seems to last 2x as long. it doesn't ware out anywhere near as much as the curved pin. Very strange that one.
@@downunderdynamics I'm guessing this has to do with the force & speed at which the pin is pulled with your arm vs the inflated pilot chute rather than the shape of the pin.
@@arnothx It could be indeed. I'm not too sure of the exact cause as there could be a few I reckon.
It's not a great system to use if you plan on wingsuiting.

maybe im a dim light bulb but i still dont understand what makes a Good Better Best rig. im new to the sport and consider 6-10,000 a lot of money. i can run down that list of add ons and not have a clue what i should be wanting vs whats available
there is no better best, it all depends on your preferences and what you are going to be doing in skydiving. for me to say what the best is would be complete bias, all I can do is point out what each add on does and the pro's and cons of such add on's. feel free to get in touch if you have any questions, maybe I can help in some way

Because I had none at hand during filming. They are quite uncommon these days, but I did have a racer as my first container surprisingly or not.

Bro I'm pretty sure it was helpful as it's about different types of rigs and the mods u can get, not the pricing. Prices vary so much it's insane and id be misleading people to much to make them up. U want it in euro’s, USD or AUS. I'm getting plenty of views, thanks for ur concern.

Its a parachute not a rib 😂
Rig not rib, a parachute is the piece of material referred to that is above ur head. “Rig” refers to the entire system containing a container, main parachute and reserve, not a rib. Sections of ribs make up the parachute.
