    Great review of the R45. I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of your YHM R45 and your Dead Air Primal on a few different calibers (such as 45-70, 9mm, 300 BLK), given that both cans are constructed of 17-4 stainless steel, have similar diameters (1.563" vs 1.618"), and the R45 (6.45" OAL) is 1.45" shorter than the Primal (7.9"OAL).

      The Primal that I reviewed is actually my buddies. I can try and see if he’ll bring it out sometime again. That would make a great comparison for sure 👌

    Awesome review! I was surprised to see you throw it on the 30-06 as I was under the impression it was only rated up to .308. If it was 30-06 rated man that would be nice as its one of the reasons I still haven't picked one up. Seems to me the Hybrid 46/46M is the only one in this category rated up to "magnum" strength / 30-06.

      So in my “redneck gunsmith” mind I figured that it if can handle 45-70 then it can handle light use 30-06. It worked out well for my uses.

      Thankfully they use the HUB mounts so finding some boosters should be easy.

    I was also in your line of thinking with the hub back end but after experimenting with my Sierra 5 with different mounts and the blast chamber sizing really changing the performance I paid attention to what Jay from pew science says when he talks about it. He thinks the mount is critical to a lot of designs like for instance the resilient RS9 and stuff. So my thought was why don’t these companies design the can for XYZ mount, but then make it HUB threaded and just put in the literature “suppressor was designed to be used with X mounting system and maybe see unsatisfactory performance with other mounts”. I also think that would keep a lot of complaints at bay too honestly. For me, the Sierra 5 was SOOOOO much gassier with a flush mounted Rearden Atlas mount vs Keymo so what if I never shot that can with Keymo and just went online and started talking trash. Idk I just wish they would do that. If they’re designing a can around a mount, maybe at least list they optimum blast chamber sizing idk. Just a thought. Great video as always man thanks!

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hadn’t really even though of that🤔 That would be really interesting to test out and see how the different mounts and muzzle devices effect the performance of a can. I like it man 🤙

    • @MrDustinclement
      @MrDustinclement ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CalebDowning dude exactly. I hadn’t either. I heard a form 1 guy talk about taking it into consideration when designing blast chamber and that sort of thing but Jay was going much more in depth with it. I would muzzle device design would help more with designing flow but the actual volume is definitely mount dependent and I could totally see it. When my Sierra finally took a dump on me it was on a super short otter creek labs ZR0 DTA direct thread mount as I was experimenting with how to make it as short as possible and I’ve wondered if shrinking the chamber and increasing pressure helped the failure. I mean everyone else’s that I’ve seen fail, failed in the same way but I made it to 1000 rounds using Keymo/Xeno/plan B but when I went plan b and direct thread it was super gassy. I love your content man and appreciate it. A mount video would be neat. Maybe take a rifle and watch ejection pattern or something? Idk. Or just be subjective, idc I just love that you make me feel normal hahaha.

    I want to know how it sounds on a 450 Bushmaster AR with 16 in barrel and full velocity hunting ammo, and how that compairs to a R2 Resonator on 16 in 7.62 X 39 AR with full velocity ammo. I have a friend with the Resonator on a 7.62 X 39 but I do most of my hunting in a straight wall State.

    How is the muzzle flash with rapid fire? Have a turbo k and it shoots fireballs compared to my nomad so im pretty hesitant on this one.🤔

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On its intended host(45 ACP) it’s not a fire breather. If you get a 45 cal bore can and expect it to reduce the flash of a 223 then you’re probably better off with another can. That being said, I haven’t noted a significant flash. I’ll note your question though. Look for a short/reel in the future regarding this 🤙

    This would work with a 7mm rem mag right?

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I checked with YHM and they said the R45 is not gonna hold up to 7mm REM Mag. It might work for a bit, but the baffles are not designed for that pressure and they would collapse and fail down the road.

    Is it rated for 450smc, 460 Rowland, and/or 45 super?

    • @CalebDowning

      Great question. I don’t see those calibers anywhere on any list for the R45 🤔

    Do you like it better than the primal

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a hard choice. The Primal sounds better but it cost more and the R45 is slightly shorter. So it’s gonna depend on what you want out of the can.
      If I wanted the most absolute quiet 45ACP suppressor then I’d get the Primal. That being said, I purchased the R45 but I haven’t actually purchased the Primal 🤷‍♂️
