- Taking a look at a core add on for X Plane 11 today in the form of FlyWithLua, a plugin kit that allows Lua scripts to be easily ran in X Plane to enhance the simulation in various different ways, from providing gear light indicators to a small radio stack to automating functions in an aircraft to make it easier to fly! I take a look at the installation procedure and demonstrate some of the available scripts that come built in with the complete package

Great video, very interesting - FlyWithLua is one thing I haven't played around with, but then without the history in MS FS and all it's derivatives I probably have less need of it. I think I may have to have a play with it though, there are a few small things that are probably easy to fix with it.
I think the next few videos may change your mind about installing FlyWithLua!
I have seen a few of your videos and thanks for the effort you put into helping sim community. One aircraft that has different type of auto pilot, Freeware Rafale C Bomber by xprf. At this time unable to get ap-fmc unit to work together. Would you be willing to take time, look at this aircraft and provide a demonstrated method to solving this issue.Tried flywithlua no luck so far and does flywithlua distort other programs? Thanks
I could take a look, but I will admit that I am unfamiliar with the ap systems on military aircraft full stop. As for FlyWithLua, it does not, or should not, cause any issues at all with other programs. That is an old video though, and there is a new version (NG) that replaces this one. Same style of installation though.
Hi, I am a new user of Xplane 11 and I found your video excelent Ideia. I am flying the C172 yet, but shortly I want to try the bimotor planes. What I have done to improve my flight was to preset some views, once I dont have TrackerIR, than to look in certain positions are easier. Please continue to share your experience. Thanks.
Fantastic! I am glad a lot of people are liking this idea. In my experience so far, the twin prop B58 is more realistic than the C172, especially on the ground. But there is still a lot to come from X Plane for me so who knows what I shall be up to next! Preset views are a really good idea too, I shall take that one on board, as I will not be using headtracking for every single video!
i got it to work at last so thanks for the video. I press the open doors script and got a bobble head figure lol. No doors opened on the cessna

Thanks for this tutorial. I heard there is a Lua script that can help X Plane 11 get better fps. Is that something you have heard of? It is so weird to me that X Plane has such a slow fps on seemingly powerful PCs (1080ti and 8 core processor etc...) Under 20 fps on low-medium settings.
There are many scripts that do a great job, BUT before you do that, I recommend you check out the Vulkan video I posted about X-Plane and try that out - it may solve your FPS issues!
I’m not sure I understand “Lua” at this point but I shall endeavor to learn. Thanks for the info! BTW - I bought some stuff in the recent XP dot ORG sale. I’m having some problems with sloppy and in some cases nonexistent install instructions. Only a few things in so far but at this point the clear stand outs are the Viper aircraft and DD’s NYC & the 2 airport packs for it (3 airports per pack). The Viper is lots of fun and is a good way to view lots of scenery quickly even if it isn’t all that realistic that a “normal” person would have such a cool machine. With fairly high graphic settings I’m getting 25 to 30 FPS which is sort of iffy but doable although canyon flying between the skyscrapers can get me down into the mid teens which is VERY iffy. Oh well... not supposed to do that anyway. In any event I can endorse these products. Thanks again for the great information! :)
It is not that hard to pick up at all. If there is demand for it, maybe I will do a couple of tutorials showing how to code in it. I will keep the addons you mentioned in mind, though it will probably be a long time until I can purchase them!
The newer version seems to have been changed. There is a "Scripts (Quarantine)" folder in there now, & maybe other changes.... So is this video up to date?

I may be wrong or mad. Or a combination of both, but most of this can be achieved by, looking at the aircraft panel?
This is just a basic demonstration of FlyWithLua. It does far more than this, and in fact most of the addons I use need this base package to work
Switched to Xplane a few weeks ago, but when I add some scripts, I got a message in the simulator "Lua stopped working" is this because I don't have the Complete Edition? and if so, can I delete my flywithlua and install the complete edition without losing my scripts?
It is possible; I cannot be 100% sure though. What I recommend is that you copy the scripts out of the scripts folder in XPlane into a temporary folder. Then you delete FlyWithLua Core, and install FlyWithLua Complete. Lastly replace the scripts into the new scripts folder as shown in the video. Let me know if that works!

Petty the "doors open / close" is apparently not working... I don't get it to work either...
As I think this is a crucial little script to understand how FlyWithLua works and how to get things programmed, does anybody has an understanding why it is not working...?
Occasionally a script will not work due to a few bugs here or there, or an incompatibility with a current version of XP11. It may be one of those causing it. Glad the video helped though!

I do not I am afraid. But I would recommend getting FlyWithLua regardless, as many addons require it!
helful man !!! Look, i have AMD fx8350 8 core processor, 32 go RAM and graphic card RX580 8 go; i'm on p3d and want to pass to Xplane, i have already Navigraph, what list of addons do i have to add please ? freeware or payware ! I usually fly in Africa and Europe. Thks for help mate.
Personally, I would wait for FS2020 and see from there which is worth your money. If you are adament on XP11 though, I recommend ORBX TrueEarth for the UK if you enjoy flying in the UK, Ortho4XP Freeware (it takes a while to get working) for some photorealism in Africa and Europe, ActiveSky XP which is really good. The Zibo 737 is brilliant too, and free. For light aircraft, the JustFlight Duchess 76 is the best I have flown!

Amazingly it does not. I have seen a small drop, but other freeware scenery has far more that I have seen. I have reviews on my channel of Orbx TrueEarth wihth OpenGL that you can check out if you want!

hi, great video. thanks. will some of the disabled scripts like hud test.lua work with b737-800 zibo. can't get mine to work

It won’t work because it’s an X-Plane default plane and they don’t have fuselages.

I am not sure. Double check if you have done everything. It may be that you have not enabled the scripts

I appreciate what you're attempting to do, but a "tutorial" would be more effective if (1) you gave yourself a script to follow and (2) you already knew how to do it ( and you knew that _when_ you did it _it would work_ ). There is an awful lot of nervous energy in this video. Kind of like static electricity. If that is your personality, you may not be able to change that. But it is not conducive to a relaxed learning atmosphere. I am not saying I could do it better because I probably could not. But one does not need to know how to compose music to recognize an unimpressive song. There may be some very useful information in this video, but I couldn't make it far enough to find out.
