- Sonic Forces was the big 25th anniversary title that everyone was looking forward to back in 2017. When it released however, fans were decidedly split. Some absolutely hated the game, and others liked it. Personally, I really like the game, though I won’t deny that it has problems. As for Charriii’s video, it’s pretty good actually. A lot good points are made, but there’s still a hefty amount that I find faults with.

Before you all ask me, yes, I've watched Charriii's Forces Rewrite. I thought it was good, but it did feel a little fanfictiony at points.

I think that the his version of the final boss was a mess
The 10TB of selfies actually isn’t that unbelievable even if it was true. Knowing Eggman with his engineering genius, he probably could construct cameras that could either capture a large view of himself and the surroundings or that the cameras were extremely high in resolution.
8K resolution was invented in 2015, close to when Forces came out and one hour of footage from that is already worth 7.29 TB. It’s not ridiculous to think Eggman could create even higher resolutions than 8K since then. And even if he stuck to 8K, with the aforementioned information, he would still reach the 10TB mark with relative ease
So it’s not that unrealistic that Eggman could take 10TB of selfies when he has the technology to do so
Chariii probably thought it was unrealistic because he was expecting that eggman would take those selfies by what would be equivalent of our modern day smartphones

That isn’t to say they’re weaker than Sonic, Sonic’s speed is what allows him to keep up with them and win (it’s harder to hit something the faster it’s moving)
The only 3 things I don't like about this game are:
A. Chaos and Shadow not having a boss fight
B. Shadow's gameplay being exactly like Sonic's
C. Big, Blaze, and Cream not being in here

After seeing some reviews of this game I realized that it’s very similar to SkyLanders Superchargers story-wise.
A story where the main bad guy who has been relentlessly trying to take over the world each game but has all but nearly succeeded during this “one” entry for the series and did everything they could to snuff out any hinderinces as possible for I.e. capturing and locking away the main heroes and their allies and block out the means of standing up to them only for them to find a way to break free and put together a resistant fighting force to take back their world and stand as the last line of defense and beacon of hope for the world and its people.
SkyLanders Superchargers story really tugged at my heart strings and gave me a soft spot for these kind of “take back our world” stories.
And even though Forces may not be the best sonic game out there according to certain people but if given the chance, I might pick up this game and try it out just for it’s story.
It may not compare to SLSC but it really resonates with me.

7:27 simple, once Sonic loses, Tails runs back to the resistance base to let everyone know, then they make plan to head up to Angel island and have Knuckles and Tails (maybe Amy) use the Master Emerald to go super (which we have seen other characters be able to do) and destroy Infinite and the copies, meaning that the war doesn’t happen.
Its tbat simple but they wouldnt think to do this even though mecha sonic did it and even tho we saw the super emeralds amplify chaos emeralds and stuff.
@ knuckles saw Mecha Sonic use the master emerald, so he would know that they could go super with it.

35:03 - 35:51 Yeah, plus in Sonic 06, they needed to include all characters into the final level of the game and even the final battle with Solaris, it needed to have Sonic Shadow and Silver to take it down. Even the fight with Dark Gaia in Unleashed needed Chip and Super Sonic to beat it.

Neither did he sin Final Judgement for being discount Terminal Velocity. I never played Colors and it was _still_ my first thought when I saw the level.
1:28 - Honestly, Chariii's confusion is understandable. The games had been going out of their way to avoid specifying who Rouge worked for since Colors DS (with G.U.N. _finally_ being acknowledged again in Frontiers). And of course, anyone who hadn't read the Forces prequel comics wouldn't know that the Resistance was formed before Eggman's takeover, making that one line about "the intelligence division" quite cryptic.
10:03 - I would presume that SEGA's reasoning was that they wanted to continue making classic-style games like Mania without worrying about disrupting the main timeline (which is the inherent problem with prequels). But yeah, randomly claiming Classic Sonic was from another dimension and expecting everyone to go along with it was not the best way to implement this. (Fortunately, they've since retconned this into a split timeline situation, which makes much more sense and won't affect anything as long as the two Sonics never meet again.)
17:43 - It should be noted that the connection between Mania and Forces was implemented relatively late in development, possibly by Takashi Iizuka himself. Originally, Infinite would have been using a completely different MacGuffin, the Valtron. Hence, the inconsistency.
18:51 - To be fair, the Sonic Frontiers prequel comic isn't crucial to understanding the plot of the game, like this game's prequel comics were. It's also worth noting that the comics were made available online for free, so at least they weren't that hard to find. And I'm pretty sure these comics exist because they're supposed to be a throwback to the original Genesis Sonic game, which had a tie-in comic of its own (and a tie-in manga for the Japanese release).
Apart from that, I have little to say this time. Forces was a disappointment to me in many ways, but I have no desire to take away from your or anyone else's sincere enjoyment of it. I'm just glad we can agree that Tails suddenly being a coward was indefensible.
9:11 while I agree that the Egg Walker is a better example of Tails being strong enough to handle Chaos 0, the fight with Chaos 4 shouldn't be glossed over. Even though Sonic and Knuckles also fought Chaos 4 at the same point in the story, it's still an impressive feat considering that Chaos 4 is an enhanced version of Chaos. By now, Tails is the least experienced of the three in terms of fighting capability, and this fight happens before his whole epiphany about not relying too much on Sonic. Whether they fought Chaos 4 together or he fought them alone and the other fights were just for the sake of it, an 8 year old fox fighting something that's been souped up by four Chaos Emeralds is nothing to sneeze at. He's faced tougher since, but as you like to point out in these videos, the characters had no way of knowing that they would at the time and you shouldn't assume they know the same things that we do.
I think the point is more that, since he's fought with each of the OG trio, it's questionable as to whether that fight _actually_ happened at all with Tails. An appropriate concern, given the story structure that game used often has multiple conflicting narratives.
The Egg Walker, being a unique fight, doesn't have this ambiguity.

@@Myron_The_Wolf Exactly. After all, there are conflicting dialogue alterations between characters, so we already know some of it is incorrect.
Even if Tails was trying to give Sonic information, he decided to sit there and watch the beatdown, even while his device was not responding.
I still think this is a sin; Tails, in-character, would have actually made some kind of attempt to actually rush in and protect Sonic.
Even in Lost World he at least threw himself in front of Sonic to protect him from the trap. -His inaction here just feels really wrong, especially while we consider that he was afraid of fodder robots in the exact same scene.
I mean, SINCE Tails didn't do jack, he may as well have not been in the game at all, right?
a minor correction point on the sonic strength sin, the points made of sonic being stronger then friends only relate to the 1 on 1 fights he had with them sometimes, while sonic in this instance lost in a 4-5 on 1 battle, whose to say that sonics friends couldn't do it if they worked together? after all their sonic heroes right? so I think some fans are fair in the thought it's odd they all couldnt make some progress without sonic around.
Not only that, but:
>it took most of Sonic 3 across both its cartridges to even get to fight Knuckles, who deactivated Super Sonic with a singular surprise uppercut and was a constant thorn in Sonic and Tails' sides prior to this point
>the Final story in SA2 follows up from the end of the Dark story, meaning that Shadow defeated Sonic at least in the second fight in the main timeline
>most of the characters in the games never even fought Sonic and that's including villains
>Blaze, who the writers fortunately forgot about, has a really hard boss fight, partly due to how fast the rhythm for overpowering her boost is, with the main victor having no in-universe indicator
>Silver almost killed Sonic twice during his debut, once after Sonic vs Silver, which he implicitly won, and once before Shadow vs Silver
You should have included the part where Charriii sinned Infinite screaming, "I am not weak!" even though he was actually upset about Shadow killing his squad, not Shadow calling him weak.

Clearly it's nothing too big to explain to your comrades, since Sonic believed him the moment he destroyed the fake so convincing won't take long, but also why does no-one at least QUESTION Shadow during those 6 months, HUH?!
Just because they lost to Sonic, doesn't mean they can't be useful. (Especially since it's clear Sonic didn't wipe the floor with them in the context of their respective stories, he had to fight with everything he got for the most part) Heck, if they all worked together, Infinite would be crushed. I mean, if Sonic & a newbie avatar can kick his ass, then there's no reason why Silver, Shadow, the Chaotix, Knuckles, ETC all together couldn't do the same. But *nah!* If Sonic loses, then it's game over & his *"stupid friends"* are completely useless despite the fact that they can all hold their own in the battle pretty well... Also, just because someone beat you, doesn't automatically mean they're stronger than you. Not all fights are one because one side is stronger than the other. I mean, Sonic beat Shadow in their last fight in SA2, but i wouldn't say he's STRONGER than him, especially if you take Shadow's Limiter Rings into account. Oh & about Chaos, this game had the audacity to tease him as one of the main bad guys in the trailer only for him to get one shotted in a Cutscene. In other words, false marketing so they can try to make Adventure fans get Forces... *Shame on you* Sonic Forces
Actually The only characters sonic struggled in a fight against are shadow (who was in no man's land throughout most of the game) and kinda knuckles so ya there still fucked without him

All of them can handle themselves & again, if all of them actually DID something & fought Infinite together on day one, he wouldn't stand a chance. Sonic and Knuckles are still roughly equals; Knuckles may not have the speed, but he was always one of Sonic’s rivals.
Silver flat out BEAT Sonic twice in a row. Even though Sonic was offguard, you don’t exactly LOSE to the same dude twice without being relative to him.
Despite that, it really does feel weird as hell that Sonic’s “stupid friends” are always made to look weak, even though they’re not. Infinite was fast, but each of those 2 weren’t so much slower than Sonic that they couldn’t perceive him. I still think their combined strength should have been enough to tag Infinite more than a few times, especially with Silver’s telekinesis.

I honestly whole heartily say that the reason why the other sonic characters don’t beat sonic is because he has plot armor their base power is stronger

I like this game. It was one of the first Switch games I ever got just one month after I got my Switch in Christmas of 2018.

Sonic Forces, a game that i feel is garbage in the story department, but is fine in the gameplay department, and I like charriiis video on it, it was actuallymy introduction to his channel, as for this video, I have a feeling it'll be incredibly biased consider how you've said before that you almost hate, but judging from the description, im not as scared now.

They have lost to Sonic before only because we are playing as him but when we play as them Sonic gets absolutely destroyed.

Hey for sin 37, I think his point was that in 06 Shadow clearly needed a chaos emerald to use chaos control but it doesn't show him using one in this scene in Forces
He didn’t give any indication for that at all. Even so, Shadow the Hedgehog would like to speak to you on that.
He needs a choas emerald to GET OUT OF THE FUTURE AND CHOAS CONTROL, BUT He can teleport WITHOUT the emerald teleporting and choas control are two different things.
@@elioridacow yeah they're such different things that he didn't even teleport in either of the clips I was talking about, he slowed down time. Though you are right that Shadow doesn't need a Chaos Emerald to use chaos control, I didn't know that when I made my initial comment.
The two things that i didn't like about this game is one: the levels were kinda shorts , two: the writers completly ruined Tails character by making him more a coward than a brave one like he was before, otherwise i did have a fun in this game i'll rate it: 6.5/ 10

For example in the Ben 10 franchise Ben Tennyson is the character with the most victories under his belt but Dagon chose to posses Gwen because in his words she’s the most powerful being on the planet. Yet Ben managed to defeat a fusion of Vilgax and the Dagon. So are we to assume an ancient demon was somehow wrong? Or that Ben’s power is bolstered on account of being the main character

Sin #22 true, I think I've seen people say Tails was the one to take down Chaos 4 and tried to dig for evidence confirming such to no avail. Heck I personally think most of Tails' story in Adventure 1 as filler until he's separated from Sonic since we see that canonically Sonic fought Knuckle to a stalemate from the latter's perspective and get the upper hand on Gamma from Amy's POV

Hey Tony Have you ever played Pikmin because i finished Pikmin 1 and am still playing Pikmin 2 and am planing to play Pikmin 3 and i enjoyed from what i played i enjoyed both games and can recomend to ya if you hqvent played them, also are you exsited for Pikmin 4?
As Sonic is a LOZ Fan this game is Sonic's Version of Majora's Mask which makes Infinite Sonic's version of Skull Kid and the Phantom Ruby is like the Majora's Mask itself. It just sucks that Sonic didn't get his own version of the Fierce Deity Form.

For me I really enjoyed sonic forces, sure the levels were pretty easy and the story can get confusing at times but there are a lot of things I still like about this game such as the character customization. Thanks to that it helped me make my own sonic oc, and for me at least a game doesn’t have to be difficult to be enjoyable. So all in all I still pretty much enjoyed the game. Also the ost is of course the best part, people say infinite’s theme slaps but in my opinion the light of hope is my favorite of the games soundtrack.

I don't hate Infinite, but I don't cherish him like with Mephiles from 06. The best parts about him are his design, powers, and voice (courtesy of Liam O'Brien). But the worst things about Infinite are several things. For one, his backstory is inconsistent.
Like, is he a organic being/robot-of-some-sort created by Dr. Eggman or is he a Mobian mercenary who's the leader of the Jackal Squad? He also doesn't have a huge presence in this game. Neither Sonic, the Avatar, not any of the other characters get to fight him in the ending. And lastly, his motivations of becoming evil are complete BS! Infinite, you shouldn't be going bats*** bonkers just because Shadow kicked your ass. So weak, bro.

1. 39:35 Hey, I don't blame you for liking the game. Just like you said, the game has a lot of missed potential on every front, but hey, at least the fans are smoothing out the game's rough edges in the gameplay and models aspect (i.e. Classic Sonic Improvement, Sonic Forces Re-imagined)

Anyways, I think this game is pretty decent. It gets way too much for hate for what it tried to be. I look at the game for what it is, a decent experience. I was really looking forward to when you'd cover this episode. I just wanted to see how you'd respond to some of Charriii's points. I had my fun with all the gameplay styles in this game. I'm more of a positive person when it comes to Sonic, so it's hard for me to not like something from this series. That scene with you talking to Shadow and even voicing him for that point Charriii made on Shadow was really good. Keep up the good work, my dude! :)

I 110% agree with Charriii5's rant about the storytelling relying on external source material that you have to buy to understand the context behind the game's story bits... This same crap was pulled with WoW back in the day and it still irks me.
Okay, I got to sin 34 and it was then I realized you have no idea what you're talking about. Let me explain. You established over and over again that the game needs to show us information and not just tell (you even agreed with Charriii about this) and yet, not only are you pulling information that was never present in the game but lamb shading it over without providing proof despite you doing so earlier. Unless it's not vital to the overall story, you can't do that. You can't just use info that at best is a theory and not present anything that would explain it in game. Another example would be sin 9&17. The former being that Infinite doesn't even engage with Shadow at any point after the events of Ep Shadow which makes why the clone is there a lot more distracting and not even patch up a plot hole they left in. Why would Infinite use Shadow, the person he despite as a clone? And if your answer is because he's strong, then why not use Sonic's clone as well? And that's just the bare minimum of what issues there are.
Now for sin 17, while you're technically correct, the examples you showed don't work because of gameplay, plot armor, eta. You, the player are using them to win (and no, you can't use story as a crutch as an argument). This also completely separates the fact Shadow hasn't gone full force (I.E, removing his rings from his wrist from 06) so that's another point against you. Again, I'm giving very bare bones explanation as I could go on for hours if I wanted to.
The last sin I wanna mention is Tails. Why? Because as one commentator pointed out, you're using one meaning to replace the meaning Charriii5 used which is redundant given the fact they mean the same thing, just under different wording. While you're correct, the problem is you're cherry picking a point that at the end of the day, remains the same and this is a consistent issue I've seen in nearly every video (With your older videos being the worst exmaple). But that's I gotta say.

I, personally, am one of those who liked it. And yet another game in the series I never played 😒, but watching the walkthroughs back in 2017, my take on it was decent. 7/10. The avatar customization, I like that new element added to the game. It looks like it was made especially for the fans who love making Sonic series OC's.
Classic Sonic's feature here (due to the events from Mania, my boy), it's……meh. A lot of the fanbase complained about this topic, and honestly, I kinda agree with them. It just felt awkward in a story where the villain successfully takes over the world, the main protagonist's past self shows up in the mix. It's kinda unfitting to the plot, since there's no travel-through-time story element involved in it.
Also, I liked the OST as always, mainly Green Hill - Lost Valley, Zavok's bossfight theme, Infinite's bossfight theme, obviously, and I can not lie (you other bothers can't deny), both his first and second battle themes, the third one was OK. But his real theme song with lyrics, oh my. Most of the lines in the song were generic, but I personally liked the part where he goes 🎶 Cause I've been up against better, just take a look at my face 🎶. I like it. That's a line from a guy who looks like he's been so very humiliated to the point he snapped for good and has nothing to lose. That's why Infinite is one of my favorites.
Anyways, where was I? Oh, also Eggman's battle theme, the Egg Dragoon Mk.II fight, Casino Forest, Aqua Road, Capital City, I think that's all. OH ALMOST FORGOT, the Supporting me Remix, on Shadow's story.
Well, that's my review. 7/10. Would try it out, no matter what people say.
Also, I gotta like how Charriii, of all games that would need some plot rewriting, he chose this one to do so. Haven't watched the full video, but he's got some interesting ideas from what I've seen. Sega would be proud.

And 2: Having that said, when Rouge contacted him to head to the city, wouldn't it make a huge difference if he just beat the heck out of fake like he did on that cutscene? Or, what, would they think it's another copy? They aren't aware of that information before Shadow tells them, and he, I think, was already aware of Infinite's powers after the Virtual Reality level on his story (correct me if I'm wrong on this part, I can only remember half of the plot). So, my point is…would that really matter?

So, I think I got my own theory about the Phantom Ruby Prototypes in this game.
Remember that back in Mania, Classic Sonic, in the True Ending, after defeating Phantom King, which was the Heavy King infused with the Phantom Ruby's power, then Eggman's Klepto Mobile (a dollar-store Big Arms by the way), the Chaos Emeralds then got outta Sonic, and kind of triggered the Phantom Ruby, causing it to create a portal to the future, and dragging Classic along?
Well then, both got sent to the events of Forces, except, the Phantom Ruby traveled in a faster lightspeed than Classic's, since it created the portal, causing it to arrive sometime between when Shadow fought and humiliated Zero the Jackal and a little bit before it. Since then, Modern Eggman found it and started to experiment with it, and taking in mind that Modern Sonic would destroy this power source, Eggman then started to create the Phantom Ruby Prototypes from it and, as for the original, I think he used it to turn Zero into Infinite and give him his powers.
And then, when Sonic and Original the Character beat Infinite, first things fist, to answer this properly, I just like to point out that Infinite "was 'consumed' by the Phantom Ruby after his final defeat.", as Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia states. And what about the Phantom Ruby? It returned to the past, with Classic a bit afterwards, causing the events of Sonic Mania Plus/Sonic Mania Encore Mode to unfold.

However, even taking these things in consideration, I'm still able to review a game by its plot, plot elements, animation, graphics and dialogue/voice acting. And even when I'm not playing, and just watching people play it, I can somehow still feel their feeling of the gameplay.

He’s faster than light, strong enough to throw Eggman’s machines several feet away, and durable enough to tank the Death Egg exploding in his face. He’s also gone toe-to-toe with Erazor Djinn who could wipe out entire universes, and Sonic defeated him without a super form AND in a weakened state.

One thing I'm wondering is, why doesn't Eggman ever mention having encountered the Phantom Ruby before? Classic Sonic is Sonic from the past, and Sonic Mania is a classic Sonic game, so wouldn't that mean Eggman had already encountered the Ruby, and known how to control it? Why give it to infinite when he can just use it himself? Also, why does he never question Classic Sonic being there? Sure, they encountered time travel before, but it's not like Classic Sonic ever comes to visit. He'd still find it weird, right?

So, Sonic Forces. I definitely feel like this game would be like a comfortable experience for newcomers that want a somewhat dark story. It might not be too entertaining, but the person wouldn't feel frustrated unlike with games like Sonic 1 or 2, or CD.(no, CD isn't easy. It's only "easy" when you play everything for like the 50th time.) I definitely feel like this would be the Sonic 3 and Knuckles of the Modern games. A friendly experience, but maybe not the most entertaining game of that style. I don't know. I'm just making random expectations on my head. One thing's for sure, though. The writing is better than Colors' smoky writing. The character phrases are much more tolerable. I don't know if the writing is better than in Generations or even Lost World, because there are not really cutscenes that i enjoy watching unlike the other games i mentioned. Maybe it's better than Lost World's writing. But hey, they tried. Kind of. Also, i hope the Classic Sonic gameplay is not as bad as people make it out to be. There are already Sonic games that i proved the gameplay is much better than what people say. I still need to make a review comment on one. So, maybe, i will be able to tolerate Classic Sonic's gameplay.

Imagine if he tried to explain himself. They’d more than likely attack him on the spot, and as powerful as he is, the combined force of all of Sonic’s friends might be too much for him, especially Silver who can match him in combat.

I like it too. And as Sonic Forces is Sonic's version of Majora's Mask that would make Zero/Infinite The Jackal Sonic's Version of Skull Kid. And the Phantom Ruby is like the Majora's Mask itself. It's just too bad Sonic didn't get his own version of the Fierce Deity Form.
