#1 thing that has made me play better is playing stakes that make me feel comfortable. For example I play 100NL with a bankroll of 50 buy ins. Am able to play good because I'm comfortable and not worrying about going bust. But if I played 200NL+ I'd feel uncomfortable in making decisions. Makes a big difference

yup,,,i am an older poker player, and i dont use GTO or any other crap. I play my cards, and the players and situations at the table. I do not know all of the young players lingo also, i do very very well at tournaments and low stakes cash games i play sometimes. Most of this crap like variances, and some do the math. Ivey is a "feel" player. Always has been, always will be. Years ago on HSP, some of the other players at the table were discussing EV. Ivey then pipes-up and asks "what's EV"? At this point, he might know what Pio Solver is, but I would be willing to bet that he's never even downloaded it.
He's the most intimidating poker player ever, doesn't need sunglasses to hide his eyes, you can never tell if he has AA or 2,8 off suit from his face or how he plays his hands until you have put too much money in the pot....I'd be very afraid to play with this guy even if I was a pro

Once you establish yourself as a great poker player people will respect you and your moves. the card helps but a great player will take a non winning hand at start and win because you are a establish player.

Phil Ivey is on point. You must understand the people around you. Are they tight or loose. Do they think your tight or loose. That's just 1 thing that you need on your mind. Theres still other things that you must think about. Poker is a Real mind game..
doyle brunson still thinks about the hands he played and he 's over 80. there r so many possible ways to play a hand. whoever is more lucky in his lifetime will make the most money. luck evens out in the long run but we only have a finite amount of years to live so some ppl will get more lucky than othrs. phil ivey's luck ran out so he's broke now. same with durr. that said, its better to play good and not just rely on luck. phil is right about one thing: no one plays perfect poker each session bc so many variables during each session. there 's no such thing as poker wizard or prodigy because if there were they would be on top every year consistently. some pros are better than others bc they study more. but in the end luck has a lot to do with it even tho poker is a game of skill and u can earn a living doing so. it's better to be lucky than good.

I've been into poker since the Chris Moneymaker craze, and off all the poker I've watched, Phil Ivey is consistently the most impressive.
I think he gets away with alot because of who he is. people are scared of him.
He was i dont think hes as good compared to the new kids who are studying so much more and understand spots so much better nowdays!
