I Thought it was rude of Phil honestly. Dude wasn’t trying to take over the conversation he was just expressing that he can relate, people love to act like victims though
@@timweaver7826 they both have abrasive competitive personalities where they need to let each other know theyre better/smarter what ever. They just go about it in different ways. they’re obviously still great friends
Phil Ivey is in my opinion a really good guy and an all time great. I had the pleasure of meeting him at an airport, I was afraid to approach him, but I did and he was super cool and kind. He even followed me on Twitter lol.
@@RodJeez He had a drinking problem and his results were really bad for a while, and it was causing issues in his life. He wasn't exercising, meditating, or taking care of himself. He said he had a bad relationship with alcohol so he quit and started exercising again, meditating as well. His results improved and he definitely looks a lot better, healthier, and happier. He talked about this in his interview with Joey Ingram. He might even say something in the interview with Barry.
Interesting this popped up in my feed. I haven’t played seriously for over a decade. I’m recently trying to get healthier these days as well. Ivey has always been that guy to get a lot of respect. Maybe I’ll get that passion to play back. I’m subbed to this channel now.
After listening to Bear and Ivey on podcasts over and over, I thought sooner or later that Barry would talk about himself during the interview, and sure enough, he did, and Ivey caught him on it.
@mohammedhamza8357 It may have been a little mean, yes. The interview is a flexible thing, where one might learn about only one person, or the interviewer as well. Ivey may have felt like Barry was putting himself into the spotlight a little too much for an Ivey focused recording. I think they are good friends, though. The meanness is probably like with two brothers.
@@GixxerGR I have done it, 96 hours no sleep is my record when playing poker. Doyle Brunson used to play for 5 days straight no sleep up until his mid 40s he said.
Ace on the River by Barry is one of the best poker books out there! Top 5 books of all the poker books. He told stories about playing cash games that I always remember when I’m playing.
Love the video but it would be nice to have longer videos when you manage to snag an interview with someone who is historically hard to get like Ivey or Dwan
I feel like the old guy thinking kids these days have it made because they have endless high end poker to watch. I used to stay up all night watching poker after dark to learn anything I could. Phil Ivey was such a huge name and then Tom Dwan was dominating online and became my favorite player. Then I just stopped playing for various reasons. I have to check myself though, because the previous generation would say how lucky I was to be able to watch poker when the only resource available were books. And the generation before would say how lucky they were to have books. But I still think the jump to the internet of 2022 and really the last 5-10 years before that has been the biggest jump in resources available. I might have to play some poker, I hadn't even thought about the game in years until this popped up.
That was uncalled for...Ivey obviously is not self-confident around Greenstein..perhaps echoes of those early days when he visited Berry´s home. Even in the end of the interview he mocks Berry...not a nice guy.. although a very good poker player.
Awesome just awesome ivy is one of the top pros I've always liked and the best all around player in the world i mean he ask durr one day when they were playing Holdem to play 7 card poker and was going to handy cap him not sure how but tom turned it down how scary is that
Ivey wanted to point out something different. Barry wanted to sound wise and smart, but it was not the right moment, that’s why he got mocked at. hahahahaha
What Phil describes in his last 18 months is what happens when you do yoga and meditation and good food. It all leads to a whole new mind space andbpurpise in life.
The longest I have ever played is one whole day there is no way I could play for 3 straight days I would be falling asleep at the poker table at some point

I'd be interested in the full version of this conversation.
Just post the whole thing. I hate when channels split interviews into segments.
@@crankerupcom Agree, I'll just wait until I can find a full version and not bits and pieces.
'ok, cause this interview isn't about you by the way', Love it! Another fine example of just how tuned in Phil Ivey is (on and off the table).

I actually thought Phil came off as a jerk to him. Real friends razz each other all the time. I think he was being condescending (and I love Phil).

Phil Ivey is such a argumentative, confrontational guy and I respect that a lot

My favorite parts of the interview is whenever Phil gives Barry a hard time
