I think what would be helpful to new sellers after you box it and weigh the item is how to select the correct option under shipping service. For example you are using a USPS Shoe box. Under Ebay shipping service they do not list "Shoe Box". You need to select Priority Mail which allows you to ship a package up to 70 lbs with dimensions up to 18"L X 12"W X 14"H. Example: I am using a shoe box and my box weighs 1lb 10 oz. I included the shoe box dimensions and my cost is $8.04. Pirate ship did not have a shoe box option either so I put the weight and dimensions under Rigid Box. Price was the same. I need to watch more videos to understand if there is a cheaper option but so far this has worked for me.
Sorry KARLA I'm glad you brought that point up but i still don't see where you get an actual price? After entering the package dimensions, and selecting USPS Priority Mail I only see CALCULATED SHIPPING that buyer Pays 9.25-30.75??? AM i doing something wrong?
Not all eBay stores get a shipping coupon. All the resellers on yt always say you do and I was patiently waiting for this coupon only to find out a starter store does not get one. Js
@@lukehobbs3177 funny how there are lots of videos on this subject and yet no one seems to go over this very important detail. I guess maybe this is common knowledge .... :)
@@robertmonroe4944 what’s the difference between flat and regular priority rate? As far as I know flat rate costs about $13.25 and regular priority is cheaper but there is a weight limit?
@@patpat6719 Flat rate (small, medium and large) ships anywhere in the country for the same rate UP TO 70 pounds. This is great for shipping HEAVY items LONG distances. The regional flat rate boxes are similar (Box A is up to 15 pounds and Box B is up to 20 pounds), however, they ship at different rates based on distance from shipping point (zones in increments of hundreds of miles form shipping point). So, the regional flat rate boxes may be better if shipping something that's LIGHT a SHORT distance - make sure if it's under 16 ounces you consider First Class Mail. Lastly, regular Priority Rate Shipping is based on WEIGHT, box DIMENSIONS and DISTANCE shipped. Often times this is the cheapest way to ship. After this, things get more complicated as you can ship by cubic shipping (Pirate Ship) or you can use UPS or FedEx for larger and heavier items that don't fit the criteria listed above. As a general rule, USPS gets expensive very quickly when you want to ship heavy, bulky items long distances. Hopes this helps and doesn't confuse you! DO NOT be afraid to use eBay's free shipping calculator, it's very straightforward.
Hey Robert, Glad to see you making another video. Hope your health is getting better and everything is good! I didn't realize you were a remodeler. That's awesome! aside from reselling, I am a hobbyist woodworker and vintage tool enthusiast. I love restoring old hand tools. I'll check out your new channel for sure! I am very OCD about how I ship shoes (and everything else for that matter)! It doesn't cost me too much and I think it looks nice. After Christmas when they clearance everything off, I go and buy a whole bunch of White Tissue paper. I use it for void fill and I like to wrap the shoes up in it before I put the shoes in a clear Cello bag, then I put them in the box. Tissue paper hardly weighs anything at all and it does a great job preventing everything from shaking around. I also use the tissue paper for packaging and storing shirts that I sell. Thanks for everything you do!
Thank you sir! Yes, I'm doing better but still in the recovery process. That's a great way to give a little extra on the presentation. I think you are right on the money with that I just keep mine a little more basic, but quite frankly your approach is more professional!
Thank you for this video. Very helpful. What is the shoe box option when putting it on the listing? Like I read is not the actual flat rate priority because is per weight so I cannot figure which one it is. Thanks in advance,
So, do I have the following right: The usps shoeboxes have no advantage price-wise re shipping - the advantage is just that they are free to obtain and fit shoes well? So, if I went say, straight to usps calculator, I would just enter in the specs using their "large pkg" (or similar on Pirate Ship) option to see what options I have? 2) you can use them for items other than shoes is this correct? TIA for any info!
I brought a pair of nike shoes that were size 11 but couldn't really fit so I finally found a size 11.5 of the same shoe that fit good and its 2 lbs and 12 oz so I'm trying to sell the size 11 pair but don't know weight so would it be 2 Ibs 9 oz sorry not really good at measurements
Hi Robert, Very informative video…thank you! My question to you is, do you only sell shoes that are in perfect condition? What about a used shoe will make it unsellable, besides the obvious worn look, or stink, or just out of style. Do you sell tennis shoes? I have some really nice heals where I’ve added padding; would this be something that would deter a buyer? I could go on, but if you have some thoughts on it, please share:)
@RobertMonroe Hey man, I appreciate the video. I am complete new to selling anything on eBay and have a few items that I would like to sell, including a pair of shoes and some small electronics. My question is.. does a person have to maintain a regular selling interval on eBay or can they just sell a few items here and there and not be charged any sort of fee? Thanks.
Thanks for the video. Quick question, when using the usps shoe box which option do you select under shipping details when listing your item. I don't see an option for USPS Priority Mail Shoebox. Thanks for your help!
Just select standard USPS priority mail option and enter the dimensions when asked for them. There isnt a specific option for shoebox but it falls under the priority mail.
@@robertmonroe4944 This question seems to be way too common...I was here struggling trying to figure out what you meant by the "Standard USPS Priority Mail Option". Would it be the USPS priority mail (2-5 business days) option in the drop down menu? Also, would rounding up on the dimensions on that 14 7/8 X 5 1/4 X 7 3/8 USPS Shoe Box (if that's what I'm mailing) to a size of 15" x 6" x 8" be the correct thing to do since the dimensions didn't take decimals for all dimensional values? Obtaining the weight from the digital scale was the easy part but why no one yet made video yet is mind boggling.

How to know what USPS Priority Mail to pick from ebay options?
Was wondering the same thing

When you ship the shoes in the USPS shoe box, do you select "Prority Mail" as the option?
Hello Branson, did you get this question answered? I'm not sure what option to select as there are too many options.
Priority mail is the correct option. Just make sure you arent selecting a flat rate option. You want the regular priority mail option

Shoes are easy. Try shipping ski boots that are too large for flat rate boxes and too expensive for UPS Ground.

Hey Robert, I have had a Seller store for about 2 years now and I don't see those $50 coupons anywhere. How do you find those codes?
You need to go to the seller's tools. I will make a video on this!
Are you coming back to TH-cam? I love your videos.
I so appreciate this. I am planning to make more videos on this channel, but want to move from ebay to other personal finance related topics
For the scale can I just use a regular kitchen scale?

So robert you dont have to buy the expensive ebay label to ship shoes?
Thanks!! Great info!!
Glad it was helpful!
On the shipping section what do you list the shoe box as since there isn’t a section for that box?
Priority Mail and just put the dimensions of the shoe box in with the weight
Thanks for z video.
What size of box You use for vast majority of shoes? Thanx
Did you ever find this out?
Great video !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yo thank you for this video, my question is how do you see or use your $50 eBay coupon?
Should I make a video on it? Its not complex but more than I can cover in a quick comment

How exactly do you get the free packaging?
Usps site, free delivery.
It’s not 50 coupon unless you upgrade store
