THANK YOU a gazillion Scott. I hope you really know how much you are appreciated and how much value you are adding to lives of others - seriously. There is no way for us to really "get" all of this without generous and talented souls like you and Melody. And you are SUCH a good instructor. Thorough. Clear. It's awesome!!!!!
This is the best feedback. Mainly because it touches on the very thing I hope to accomplish on this channel. It isn't that I don't want a bunch of subscribers, views and even money. I do want those things. But if I had to choose between those things and creating something that is genuinely helpful and encouraging, I'd choose the latter. Mel and I figure that if we can truly offer something of value to people, all of those other things will come if they are meant to be. So, truly, thank you for the comment. It means a lot.
This was uploaded on my one year TH-cam anniversary. I have had so much more support and love than I ever expected. I can't express how much I appreciate all of you. Thank you.
@@davevines1422 On your seller hub, under the label of TASKS, you'll see Items To Be Shipped. When you open that tab you click on the item you are shipping. The buyer's address will be there and will automatically be put on the label when you buy it.
I found this video tonight while researching how to be a seller on ebay using printify. I felt absolutely compelled to share with you how refreshing and unusual it is to come across somebody that is so honest and genuine. I really believe your intensions are good, your advice is solid, and that you must have some good karma coming your way. So many bullshitters and people misrepresenting, you have rekindled my hope, thank you!
I hesitated to create a TH-cam channel for a long time because I wasn't sure I had anything of value to add. My whole goal is to give people help and hope. So, your comment is truly encouraging to me. It matters that you took the time to write it. Thank you.
Beware if you are selling, the scammers are mostly buyers saying they did not receive, I always refunded so they got the goods for free, this became so often I have now stopped. This is in UK
FINALLY a video that ACTUALLY tells beginners what to do. So many “for dummies” vids ASSUME so much and never really tell us the basics. Thank you SOOOO much!!!!!!
Thank you for this advice!! I have just recently quit my job for 1 because God told me to go back to school and to be home to take care of my 3 boys (yes God told me no I’m not crazy lol) but with summer here with 3 boys and going back to school full time and being active in the church I didn’t have time to work a 40+ hour job. So with all that being said me and my husband decided for me to do re-shop. And we need all the advice we can get most time I feel very overwhelmed and your videos are helping me with all this. I have never Commented on someone’s video but yours was just that good and wanna tell u to keep doing to help folks like mee lol
Thank you! I am an organizing, professional and I have lots of clients who want to sell items but don’t want to do it themselves. I decided to jump in and see if I can help. I had a client with some sign Noritake and Lenix China brand new. I listed it on eBay and then watched your video the next day. I was excited when I got an offer but them shortly later, they asked me to send them a message on their “business email” luckily, I had just watched your video and learned never to take the conversation off the eBay platform. Thank you so much for your content! You are making the world a better place by helping stop these scammers. Thank you again and again and again.
I am SO glad you avoided that. You would have ended up giving your stuff away and paying for the privilege to do it. I truly appreciate the encouraging words.
I just put up my first listing on Poshmark. Literally, got 2 comments within minutes of posting it from people trying to take the sale offline, asking me to text them. Nope. I’ve done so much research and learned those are scammers. I flagged both and they got deleted 💪
I heard from someone who sells on eBay that it's not a bad idea before listing items to buy about 10 or 15 items from big sellers who always give positive feedback if you pay on time. It's kind a like a reputational building exercise. Thanks fro good tip about global shipping. I never would have considered this before your video...Just a GREAT VIDEO packed with extremely useful tips, no-nos and stuff.. Thank you very much!
I'm super happy to see this note. I really want the videos to help some people. Buying from big sellers who leave feedback is a great way to start your ebay account.
Bless you so much for posting this video. I want to declutter my life desperately. I am a child of hoarder parents and find myself developing similar traits. I would love to start selling everything in my house and living a more peaceful life. My biggest fear is not understanding the shipping and the set up. Im looking forward to leaning more with you and your community. ❤️
If I've learned anything from selling on eBay, it's that "stuff" has very little intrinsic value. Having more stuff doesn't improve your life. In fact, more stuff is a lot like being overweight. You may like what you ate/bought to get there, but holding on to it slowly kills you.
@@jag4442 I retired from education in 2018. Unlike a lot of people, I loved my whole career. BUT...I have loved retiring from it even more. It's hard to overstate how much a flexible impacts your life. Reselling, for us, bridges the gap between my retirement income and where we want to be. I hope your retirement will work out so that you get to be where you want to be.
@@TheChaChingKing Scott, I retired from education too! 10 years as a teacher and then 22 years as a guidance counselor was enough. It's time for me to add to my pension! I, too, enjoy the flexibility of my day!
Scott, I am brand new to shopping and reselling and I am very excited! A friend is helping me and she told me to go on uTube and find out how to start an online business. I found your channel and I love all the info you have given me. I will continue to watch you! Thanks for all your help
You can do this! There isn't anything special about what Melody and I are doing. We've made plenty of mistakes...and a lot of money...along the way. It has grown into a tremendous supplemental income for us. Congrats on getting started!
8:06 such a wonderful tip for life in general. I have executive dysfunction and I’ve always said “if I have all the time in the world, I have no time.”
Oh my gosh I hear the scammer rant all the time - people are scared to sell on eBay because the scammers target new accounts. Thank you for pointing out that they end up being NOT a big deal. And YES the community - I have been selling on eBay since 2000 and didnt realize there was a community til 2020! I have been able to expand my brand knowledge and even get into selling hard goods - something I never would have thought to do - since I started watching what others do. This is a great video - thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Since 2003 selling on eBay I’m finally getting it right instead of just selling through one category I’m selling everything because I followed you and a couple others like you on TH-cam and it was by accident because I was looking for something else and I came across another seller in Montana low and behold I learned some lessons so thank you for posting this video
I’m just now starting with eBay in 2024. I already registered, now I just have to list my items. This video is very helpful. You speak in a way that makes it easy to understand. Thank you for sharing all this info.😊
Thank you so much! I still read and try to comment on every single comment because I don't want to miss messages like this. As much as you might find the video helpful, these kinds of comments are truly encouraging to me.
Thank you so much for the advice. I started selling on eBay in 1998. I lived a retired life and just dabbled in eBay over the years. I'm 76 years old and the government took my retirement away. I've had to do this again to survive. You video has helped give me hope.
I am a new subscriber to your channel and I appreciate your videos so much. You are easy to understand and easy to learn from. I am new at selling on eBay. I’ve always been a buyer. I’ve got about 16 items listed and my main concern is shipping. You covered that concern and so much more on this video. Thank you so much for being concerned and willing to help others ! I can’t wait to Watch more of your videos.
Thank you SO much for the kind words. As a new seller on eBay, remember one thing. It's OK to make a few mistakes along the way. No business was ever built without a few hiccups. There's going to be a time when you lose a little money on shipping. You're going to have a return...and it probably won't even be your fault. I know these things because they all happened to Melody and me, too. But if you keep listing and learning, you're going to eventually have a thriving business. I know that you can. Thank you again!
@@TheChaChingKing I concur but I will say this is absolutely true and I very grateful as you are well as I said I am new, I had a position people actually die for which I left and i'll elaborate one day but you are all the above. J
Hi, Scott. I learn more about EBay from reading the comments and watching your videos, then I do from alot of other ebay resellers channels. Thank you for sharing your time and passion with us. 👍
Some great advice for new people. Totally agree with the Global Shipping. I'm in the UK and I wont ship Internationally without it now, it saved me over £400 from a Russian buyer that claimed the box was empty when he received the goods. Fortunately, because I followed the correct procedure I didn't have to refund the scumbag!
I’m so glad I found you! I mostly sell vintage on Etsy, but want to branch out to eBay and ramp it up. I used to sell on eBay a bit, but it seems like a lot has changed that I would have missed if it weren’t for you. Thanks!
I sell on Amazon. It is a nightmare and the fees are crazy. I make about $6000 a month on Amazon hoping to make more on EBay with less limitations on products I’m allowed to list! So glad I found you!!
Been watching your channel for a while now. I just wanted to say thank you for your common sense approach and for sharing with us. I used to have 12 sales reps working for me until COVID hit and we also moved to a very rural area It is like starting over for me. Thank you so much
I discovered your channel after watching you on a podcast and immediately subscribed! I love your teaching methods and down to earth suggestions. I have been on eBay for almost 20 years and have never shipped via the global mailing option because of fear of the unknown. I know that I should brach out...maybe soon. I sell a lot of clothing pieces and the returns seem to be my main optical. I can't thank you enough for all you do for us who are still learning.
You can do it! Turn on Global Shipping Program on items that are fairly lightweight and inexpensive. That way you can ease into it without a great deal of risk.
Scott, thank you for having a servant’s heart and making this instructional video. Your video content was clear and actionable. I am sharing it with a recent high school graduate that is looking for a flexible way to make money as she attends college. So, again, thank you, Scott. You are sowing good and helpful seeds for other resellers. 🙂🌺👍🏻
You are very welcome! There are several videos aimed at helping people get started. I think the younger generation can actually do much better at this than I have. They have more energy. They are more comfortable with online...well...everything. If I can do this. She can do this.
Thank you and I just posted my first listing on EBay....more to try the on line business but also to learn about the updated formats, shipping and charges incvolved. Also just found your channel and I thank you for the honesty and refreshing approach that you have telling us YOUR SECRETS,. Look forward to your other content and I am eager to see what Ebay and 2024 brings.
Thanks Scott, I've been selling on Ebay for a few years. Just took a much needed 6 month break. Starting fresh and came across your video. I've made several of these mistakes. I've sold myself short on how much I could make and may times undervalued items I sold. But I have to say the very worst is not being able to find a sold item!!! It will drive you crazy, lol! Being organized is the key. First thing I'm going to do is inventory and check my stores for any improvements I can do BEFORE I start listing new items. Especially with postage increases, I have some older inventory with old postage charges. That will eat up your profit fast! Thanks again for helping us with your positive, helpful videos!!! Much appreciated!
Thank you scott for being concerned and willing to help others, you explain all basic points very clear & in stepwise manner. Also I like the advice given by sjn-72 about heavy stuff that many times, FedEx or UPS is often cheaper than USPS, so always compare the shipping prices.
Thank you, thank you SO MUCH for doing the beginner series and beyond! I SO NEEDED this. Im bing watching your channel. I appreciate your transparency. I highly value your up to the minute experience. Which is validated by your success. I have paid way to much money to too many people for nothing practically useful on this subject. I know I don’t know much about all this, so my hope has been to learn how to sell profitably online the past 4 years. My husband and I need this. I took on debt for “programs” and “systems” thinking it’s like college- I need to pay a lot to get educated. NOOOOO! I should have known. Like college, those systems and programs have been nothing but debt we can’t afford and lots of nothing. Until I found your channel a couple days ago! THANK YOU!
Thank you for the positive feedback! I'm not an advocate of debt at all. AT ALL. The last thing I'd want is for someone to go into debt and send me the money. I make a little bit on TH-cam. I make a little bit if someone uses my affiliate links in my description. I'm super happy with that level of support. Reselling can help you get out of debt. You can do this!
I just found you and find that you are the most genuine person explaining the ins and outs and thanks for that. A lot of people make such a production that all im looking for is simple to understand information and you did a great job thanks.i use to be a power seller years ago and have contemplated getting back into selling on eBay but not sure yet but i definitely will watch more of your videos.
I just want the videos to be as helpful to as many people as possible. I'm still learning and trying to make them as good as I possibly can. Your feedback really keeps me going.
IM REALLY HAPPY THAT I FOUND THIS VIDEO. YOU DO A GREAT JOB. I AM THINKING OF STARTING SELLING ON EBAY BUT I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW TO EVEN BEGIN. THIS IS BRAND NEW TO ME. I WISH YOU CAN DIRECT ME TO VIDEOS OR ANY OTHER PLACE THAT I CAN LEARN THE BASIC STEPS OF HOW TO START.
I've been reselling for three years now. I can tell you that scammers are not an issue. Unamendable buyers are my biggest headache. Simply put there are people out there who are IMPOSSIBLE to please. Also buyers who ABUSE the return process are the bane of my existence. People will straight up lie in order to return something plus Ebay ALWAYS sides with the buyer. I LOVE reselling. I'm absolutely obsessed with reselling and love the process but there is always someone out there trying to ruin your day. lmaoooo My advice is list, list and list some more!
Hello! I am a new Seller on Ebay. Today was my first day listing 6 items. I have over 100 items I want to sell. So grateful for your videos. I look forward to watching more of your videos and learning how to sell online. I've been selling on Etsy for 3 months and now I want to expand to other platforms.
You got this! While I haven't made videos about it, we also sell on Etsy. I really like Etsy. I do think you'll find that you'll get more sales on Ebay over time. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment.
@@TheChaChingKing Thank you for your reply. I've only been on eBay for 3 Days and the scammers have not missed a beat. I have not accepted any offers yet because all the accounts look suspicious. Would you say if an account was created within a day or two of making an offer it's a scam??
@@KarlaZamudio Karla, I missed this comment. For the most part, YES. But only because your account was new. I'm still skeptical of brand new accounts. But, for the most part, the scammers don't mess with my account any longer.
Man this video hit hard. Almost every topic I was like yep, been there. My wife and I been selling for 4 years now. Not trying to get it to a full time buisness, mind you. I pitched the idea to my full time company, and as of yesterday, I got the green light ro open the Ebay store from the owners. They have never been online, and electrical parts are ialways in high demand. Very nice video, and very informative to beginners. Setting up your PC and printer, and print your own labels is crucial. The newer international shipping is amazing. A little tip, it is only in the US for now.
@TheChaChingKing lol no worries man. Now, it is make a video on small TH-cam mistakes. I am just helping you get material is all lol. Keep up the good work. We need more positive energy like this.
Thanks for this Scot. Not only are you helpful and informative but you are encouraging.. and funny too. I appreciate you & Melody for sharing all that you do! 💜
Thanks for this. I’ve been selling on eBay for 4+ years and my sales have tanked I’m basically starting from scratch again and relearning the platform so this is very helpful
Yes, this video is simple. I've been selling online since 1989 and nevertheless, several of your points were helpful to me. I like the way you present things because, it's non-threatening to someone starting out. So yeah, I'm going to go and work out a schedule. I've never really done that and am feeling a little silly. But, thanks for making it real.
True about creating your own limits. My Ebay store is more than $900k. I started selling RL shirts and reinvested all the proceeds. Now I do high end art and antiques. Don't be fearful of selling valuable stuff.
100% true. Melody was originally terrified of selling more expensive items because of the risk of returns. She's convinced otherwise at this point. If I'm selling $500 items consistently, the occasional $500 return has no more relative impact than a return at a lower average sale price. Not to mention, I believe there to be far fewer returns at the higher price point. Someone who buys your high end at work already knows what they want and what they are looking at.
Thank You so much for the information. I have been on eBay since 2014 sold a few items and left it by the wayside. Recently decided after retiring from a career in Nursing to take the leap and seriously build a resale flip business. Recently sold a set of binoculars, offered free shipping. Lost much profit due to improperly calculating the shipping and fees. Lesson learned😂 glad is was a 25.00 item not 30 of them…. Knowledge is power. Subscribed and will continue to do homework on best practices, taxes etc. God Bless.
Congratulations on your retirement! Now, back to work. 😆 All joking aside, eBay has drastically changed my retirement life. It had given us so much more financial control.
Thank you for the encouragement! I bonded with you when you said you were scared to use the Global shipping. I’m scared to start selling PERIOD! I have vintage, one of a kind stuff I need to start selling so my kids don’t throw stuff out (like my siblings just did!) Thank you for your clear instructions. Much appreciated!
YES! Thank you! Simple is good! So many videos are geared toward established sellers. I have basic, beginner questions, you know, the ones we are afraid to ask because they are simple? And we are afraid we'll look stupid? So thank you keep up the great work! You are inspiring!
I have been selling for about 3 months and this video was helpful. Especially about the global shipping. I was afraid it was complicated and took extra effort but you make it sound easy. I will turn it on for a few of my listings and see what happens. Thanks so much for the content. I am now a new subscriber.
Thank you so much, Rhonda! My experience with the Global Shipping Program has been nothing but successful. I hope your experience is just as rewarding!
I am a new subscriber to your channel. GENUINE ARTICLE… that’s what I’ve said after watching your videos, after learning from you on The Nurse Flipper’s panel videos. Thank you for your candor, your heart for people & teaching/ reaching others in a positive way. Be well.
All good information for new sellers. Especially the one about just because someone lists an item for that price, it doesn't mean that that is what it is selling for. I once went to a neighborhood garage sale and by the third house it was clear that during their planning meeting someone who thought that had told everybody to go out to eBay, find the highest listed price, and don't take a penny under that. After the third time of hearing, "That's what they are selling for on eBay," I pulled up the solds for the item in question and said, "No, here is what they are actually selling for. And you can subtract shipping costs, fees, and taxes from that too." I wasn't the only one walking away from those garage sales empty handed.
I never do it, but I want to tell them that they should go ahead, create an account, take pictures, find sold comps, write a description, get it listed, sell it, ship it and then hope it doesn't get returned. lol
Getting ready to jump into selling on eBay and have had many concerns and mainly shipping until I discovered yours channel. Thank you for doing what you do in sharing your experiences, I'm certain that your having a positive effect on newbies like myself.
Thank you for paying this forward. As i sit here trying to figure out what key changes are necessary to help my business grow, your comments have offered both knowledge and comfort. Rest assured i will pay forward what i received from you today. Heres hoping the new year is both peaceful and infused with boundless prosperity for you and your wife. Thank you
Great tip! I didn't use Parcel Select for a LONG time and kept "not using it" out of habit. Both poor excuses. When speed of delivery isn't an issue, it can be a great choice.
Thank you ChaChingKing! I stumbled on some of the information you shared as I navigated my way through becoming an Ebay Reseller. But THANK YOU for telling me where in the listing to post the bin location! I've been hearing this from other resellers that you could do this, but none said where in the listing it went! That's gonna be so helpful IF I can remember to use it! LOL Hope we cross paths again as I hit the estate sales in Texas! Blessings! ~Wendy

Hi guys, we have sold on Ebay in the past with slight profit over the years, but just recently we have Givenchy thought to stepping up our game and trying again ...but much more aggressively. You need to know that your videos are super helpful and we are taking strong notes. Thanks so much for all that you do.
TY so much you’re extremely helpful. I’m scared to start reselling on a new platform but you’ve helped to push me. I’m going to watch all your videos so I can feel more confident thanks again 🦋Mary
Mary, learning anything new can be intimidating. Obviously, I don't know you. But I bet if you look back over your life that you've done and accomplished more than you could have imagined. You can absolutely do this.
Dude you are awesome. Motivating and knowledgeable. Everything you said was putting goose bumps on my arm 😆. I recently retired and had dabbled years ago with ebay as a neighbor was trying to help me start the business and I really didn't have the computer skills back then as I do now . Thank you again my friend.
I’ve been selling on eBay since Nov 2000 and still learned something new from your video. Thanks so much! Great information. While I just sold sporadically for fun in the past, now that I’m retired, I’m enjoying selling more and love the shipping feature.
Thank you for all the great information. I've decided to start very slowly without a store since I lack the confidence to possibly become overwhelmed. Sellers have advised me about how much competition there is on line and I knew someone who sold an item globally and he was scammed. I don't enjoy buying globally and don't trust global selling. I've been putting this off for a long time do to being phobic about trying new things. I really gathered inventory to do flea markets until covid struck. Bad timing-so I'll try online selling.N
Nice video! Thank you for taking the time to put this together. You answered a couple questions I had & provided info I didn't know I might need. Blessings
Great video and I appreciate your optimism and enthusiasm. I have a very large number of items that would do well I’m sure. I’ve sold a number of items infrequently, but have a fear of bogging down with buyers not paying or complaining about this or that. Good advise and thanks!
Great advice Scot! Many of us have learned these things from experience. Thanks for sharing! You and Melody make a good team. I always look forward to your content.
Hi there I recently found your videos, I have been trying to sell on EBay for a long time but never did now that I have see your videos and understand a little bit more about how to do it I am going to start thanks to you and your wife I have a better understanding please do not stop doing these videos your info is simple and easy to understand ❤
Being on TH-cam requires SO much more time and effort than I ever imagined. In fact, I actually make less because I don't list as much. That said, on the BIG PLUS side, making these videos makes me feel like I might actually be helping someone. It gives me back some of that joy I had from when I was in the classroom. So, I plan on doing this as long as I am able.
I've sold a little bit on eBay off and on over the years, but not put any real dedication into it because it does seem super complicated. Your video has some great tips and info and it's very reassuring. I'm packing up to move and I had a real eye opener with some of the things I was going to donate like old t-shirts. The completed item filter on the search was something I was already using before I bought things, just to get an idea of the going prices, but it's even more valuable for deciding if something is worth hanging on to and putting up on eBay. Thanks for a great video!
I really appreciate the detailed feedback. The goal is to create videos that are genuinely helpful. So, I take these to heart as I try to continually improve. Thank you so much!
This series you are doing is Wonderfully helpful. I have been an ebay reseller for several years and can always learn from others' experiences!! Thank you for sharing your experiences with all of us! I have been very much afraid of global shipping but guess I need to give it a go?
Thank you for all your advice. I am not new to Ebay but I am starting on my own and trying to get reacquainted and updated on any new policies and procedures. Your channel is super helpful. I look forward to learning more from you.
I actually really enjoyed this video. You come off as 'just a normal person' and that is so relatable when you're looking for true advice. I have subscribed. Thank you for this.
My wife Melody might disagree with your "normal person" assessment. :-) All jokes aside, I really want the videos to be helpful to the people who are looking for help and hope.
I've been selling off and on with eBay for about 15 years. Watching all the changes the platform has gone through is understandable. Shipping didn't use to be configured in the final price, but with those abusing the system, listing a 99 cent item with $25 shipping, hurt us all. Ebay, configures the shipping cost, handles the financial processing of costs and pay out. It may have been mentioned but PirateShip actually saves you more money that eBay on USPS shipping costs.
You are exactly right. People trying to slide everything over into shipping cost all of us. I haven't personally had much luck getting a cheaper price with Pirate Ship. It's almost always more expensive for me. I do realize that hasn't been the case for everyone.
@@TheChaChingKing I tend to send most flat rate priority and noticed the difference between PirateShip and USPS online to sometimes be as much as about $3.50. Considering it's flat rate it doesn't matter where I'm shipping to. Most of my stuff fits snuggly in medium or large boxes, but when it comes to compact clothing, I use Poly sealer bags. We all have to do what works best for us though. The very best to you.
Thank you for sharing your time and passion with us. Putting alot of minds at rest. I do hear a lot about scammers on Ebay, from other youtube resellers. Thank you again for the encouragement to go forward in reselling. 👪❤️🇺🇲
Thanks for this great 'basics' video. I've been selling online since 1996 - I've been trying over this past year to revisit the basics. I didn't realize how stale my selling had become because I stopped learning and had gotten into a rut. Revisiting the basic stuff now and then, and looking at your workflows from a different perspective is really an important thing to do. I could add notes to all of the things you mentioned here from experience, but that's not why I'm commenting. Looking forward to watching your other videos. Good luck to you and your wife!
I learn a lot just by collecting my thoughts in order to make a video. It is SO easy to just get caught up in doing what we do. It's important for Melody and I to revisit what we do, too. I appreciate the kind words!
You are such a rad soul, friend. Thank you for your generosity in putting this video out there. I wish you ginormous success, especially for so beautifully giving forward.
Watched your stuff. On my seller hub when I list new item, the variations option does not come up. Have spent all day trying to get drop down bar to sell some silver flatware separately in one list. What should I do?
th-cam.com/video/wpol4ogyNxk/w-d-xo.html Did you already watch the variation listing video? Also, some categories don't allow variation listings. This page shows the categories that are allowed. Flatware should be OK. pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/sellingresources/multiplevariationslist.html
I just started back with eBay and I remember being afraid of international shipping. I started it and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Thank you for these informative videos! ❤
Thank you for your generous service of time and knowledge. You describe everything simply but don't leave us feeling like we're being patronized. It's hard to gain enough courage to start selling on a new platform with items that are not my usual fare. I appreciate everything you and Melody do for this community. Cha-Ching King is one of my favorite TH-cam channels for ALL of these reasons and more.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the kind words. It would be hard for me to be patronizing since I'm only sharing the things that I had to learn myself. If there were awards for making the most mistakes on this journey...then I could bring home a trophy. :-)
Bro! You have jammed this full of good info i needed to hear! You are a rare one whose Title lives up to your Vid -- not click bait. 1,000 blessings on you.
I'm not entirely above click bait. Go back and watch my video about the "shady estate sale." LOL All joking aside, I appreciate this comment. My hesitation for diving into TH-cam was that I wasn't sure I had anything of value to offer this community. I'm genuinely hoping to create videos that help people who want to do this. So, thank you for the encouragement.
Thank you, actual valuable information. Knowledge is power and ive been stuck in a phase of hopelessness after loosing my job as a single mom with full custody and the only parent. This video gave me hope.
You are exactly who I make these videos for. Seriously. I want these to offer help and hope to those that need it most. I truly believe that eBay has the potential to help people bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. You can do this.
It must depend on what's being sold and where you live. It just hasn't ever been cheaper for me. I have a Pirate Ship account, and I do check prices. But the variables just haven't worked out for me very often.
@@TheChaChingKing I was not aware it varied all that much. I do know a larger item I had was 107.00 at post office to ship in quote, but was 74.00 ups and only 43.00 pirate ship.
Thank you! I've been selling online off and on for a few years now, during the pandemic, the stimulus checks I put most of it in rebuilding/resticking my online listings/inventory and doing it right this time around since I wanted it to be my main source of income after my husband passed away we loved to shop thrift stores etc.together and I took it further to selling that stuff we found but then he got sick and we spent A LOT of time in the hospital. And I was missing sales so I just shut it down so it didn't have to cancel orders. Plus I was way too far away from home anyway to do anything about any sales. Well when I finally came home I didn't have all the clothes and stuff and put up correctly and nobody around to help take care of it and it ended up all getting ruined so I had to take down every listing throw away everything and start over it was a lot of work that I was proud of so after he passed away and I decided to get back into it cuz I really didn't have any other option for an income anyway Plus I enjoyed doing it and that's when I decided to make sure every single thing I bought was protected so I bought just about everything you can think of like, totes storage bins ziplocs even vacuum seal bags because out here in the country where I live there's no telling what can happen at any time, such as one day and I'm glad I had everything bagged up already because we had a leak happen in the roof during a big storm and it was right over a bunch of my items I just bought I was so glad I learned my lesson and protected my items that I invested in it's a lot of extra money but it's a lot better than losing a lot of money too..My inventory that I've invested in is all I have for an income so I'm making sure everything's organized and labeled keep track of my inventory etc. Now a lot of the stuff you spoke of I already knew but I'll tell you what it doesn't hurt to go over it again no matter Long you sold stuff online and remind yourself of how simple it can be and should be because I've sat around for a year building up an inventory and now I have so much I've got myself overwhelmed and it's almost too much to wear I'm not getting as many listings online as I want to or need to and My motivation to continue this awesome idea I had to kind of start a business eventually like my husband and I had one day wanted to do is not like it was when I first decided to do this! And I'm good at it I enjoy doing it and as much as that makes me feel good knowing I've made other people happy just wasn't enough to keep me motivated because I let myself get overwhelmed with all this it's like so much stuff I don't know where to start even though everything has stuff to be organized in I don't even know where to begin to start organizing it I know if I just pick away at it a little everyday it'll all eventually get to where I want it but I just step in my room and just shake my head and walk out sometimes.. and that really sucks so I just wanted to say thank you I happen to come across your video and decided to watch it and it kind of reminded me yep I can do this! I have done it I'm good at it it makes me happy and others happy so do it just get it done it shouldn't be hard and overwhelming when it's something you enjoy I'm making it hard and overwhelming myself when it shouldn't be and isn't! So I appreciate your video I'm not really good with positive self-talk self-motivation so to speak so hearing somebody else break it down and make it simple again for me to where it can be enjoyable once again helps a lot I figured I'd just let you know that!
My goodness, you are exactly who my videos are meant for. You've had the rug jerked out from underneath you. And despite knowing what to do at each step of the way, it just won't come together. It doesn't come together because bits and pieces of you seem to be missing. But all the talks you remember, all the planning you did together, every dream and every plan for tomorrow ARE the missing pieces. All of those times, have prepared you for this time. You are ready. Don't try to run the whole race in your head before the starting whistle. Just take the first step. And be confident that the two of you have prepared you for the next step...and the next. It is far less overwhelming to just focus on the next step, knowing that you spent your whole lifetime preparing for today. I make these videos with the hope that I might help someone take the next step. Your note is so encouraging to me.
@@TheChaChingKing @ChaChingKing well thank you for your encouragement and kind words, I never really thought about it I guess but he was the piece that always made me slow down and think and put things in perspective before we proceeded in doing anyting. I guess I just got in the habit of needing to rush things when he got sick it's a weird State of mind to be in when you know that your life is going to expire and you have so much to do and say and its all just automatically overwhelming. I mean I was with him 11 years before we were able to marry. But literally overnight we are in a hospital far from home with him getting an emergency heart valve replacement we spent a couple months in the hospital and he was doing great we're covering everything went awesome in a week later we had to go back he was septic and they told us he might have three months tops and we went home and it wasn't even two weeks and we got married the day before and he passed away the following day at age 39! Shoot I just turned 35 myself in Dec. But then got sick too 6months after he did I was hospitalized and was becoming septic to they said and I just have been getting sick, living off antibiotics for few yrs basically.Seems like they can't completely get rid of it or something.Since life is unpredictable, it's just a habit I guess to rush everything which I hate doing cause when I rush I forget something everytime then I gotta make up for that.. mainly the reason everything got so backed up on me when I was starting over was I started buying inventory and then I would get sick and couldn't physically put things away as I bought them and everything just started stacking up on me cuz I kept getting sick and couldn't physically do anything and then I sat there and just kept buying stuff by the time I could physically get up and do something with everything I bought for inventory etc. I was like wow, I still have unopened packages I bought from this time last year even I've found. Did I hadn't even been able to open yet. I'm getting now to were I'm getting longer periods of I'll call it "healthy time" now where I can physically get back into our project now and like I mentioned earlier it just became a habit to rush things and think about everything I need to do and want to get done and don't know when I'm going to be unable to work on it again?or for how long ?and start that overwhelming cycle again.... THAT BEING SAID (even though I probably could have said a lot less lol before getting to my point)..Im definitely am keeping your last message handy to re-read when I need a little reminder! THANK YOU,It's honestly VERY helpful..sometimes people (like myself) do better hearing things from someone else and well until your message actually I haven't had anyone around that I talk to about this part in my life with since he's been gone, I mean he was my partner in this so nobody cared about any of it like we did (so I thought)..well my dad tries to be supportive,no I'm sorry he IS supportive of our plan hes even invested in inventory for me before because he's seen that I could do it and wanted to help get me started again! He just doesn't really know what to say or do and gets overwhelmed when I do because he don't know how to help so I just try not to bring it up to him so to not stress him out with my own, since I moved back in to help take care of him! which basically had me feeling alone in this!... THATS ANOTHER REASON IM GLAD I SEEN YOUR VIDEO!!! the part where you spoke about the online community thing and that I don't HAVE to be alone in this, I mean it first I never thought about it because I wasn't alone having my partner! Things are diff now and it still wouldn't have dawned on me about the community thing without hearing someone bring it up. So I believe I might give that a try too. Um do you have any suggestions on where to begin as far as that part? Like is there like something on eBay, chatroom or something or forum I'd guess you'd call it.or something you go to. Ive only just started trying eBay out I'd say bout 3months ago I've always used 2other platforms,so the eBay platform is still new to me,I mean I don't know all the diff tools/ options etc yet either. I put a variety of a few items I had on there to see how I'd fare and feel it out before I put a bunch of stuff on there.if there's like a chat room or something on there they offer then ive not found it or missed it I know I haven't gone through every little detail as far as seller info yet either.. Ive been stuck on trying to figure out all the diff fees and pricing etc still to figure out what's best to list.
Thank You! I’ve been watching a lot of videos on how to get started and this was the best! I’ve been a reseller for 12 plus years. I’ve had a store and now working out of booth’s. I now want to try my hand at eBay, but it’s a little overwhelming. I want to know all I can before getting started. I needed the basics! Thanks for providing those!!!
I would like to get to know you, my friend Nancy and I are going to try this instead of just having a garage sale because we have some really nice items like corny wear or China dishes and bowls and plates and I like your video❤
Thanks for this info! I really want to set up an eBay store. I’ve heard that if you make more than $600 on eBay that you will have to pay taxes. Should we be getting a business license and all of that set up before we start selling? I’m more worried about the financial/accounting side of things than anything else. Did you do all of that right at the beginning? Thanks!
I started paying taxes as soon as I wasn't just selling stuff from my house. But, it's way beyond my expertise to give tax advice. Always talk to a tax professional. They can save you more than they cost. My thought was always, if I expect this to be a business, I need to treat it like a business.
Great advice. I would suggest separate bank accounts for personal funds and the eBay revenue even if someone is not selling enough for it to be considered a big enough business. It is easier to keep track of the records that way for ethical standards.
Wish I had known you years ago. Thank you for your selfless wisdom, your kindness radiates beyond the video and TV🙂
Brilliant! I just left a similar message, but you articulated it so much better. This guy is just what we need 👍
Thank You
Wow that is quick, thank you for the response!
Also I should have stated this video, is very informative! Thank you!
This was uploaded on my one year TH-cam anniversary. I have had so much more support and love than I ever expected. I can't express how much I appreciate all of you. Thank you.
God bless you

Well you are 20 million times better than all the other people trying to talk on TH-cam
I appreciate that even if I don't entirely agree. I'm still trying to improve every day.
Thank you.
@@TheChaChingKingglad you did 👍
I totally agree with you. He knows his shit!!!❤
Beware if you are selling, the scammers are mostly buyers saying they did not receive, I always refunded so they got the goods for free, this became so often I have now stopped. This is in UK
As a brand new eBay seller, I can’t even tell you how helpful this is. Thank you so much!
YEAH! That's exactly what I want this to be

So I’m new to eBay too but if I get what u are saying after your purchase you pay the value fee and .30 cent fee
What a pleasure seeing your video. Plain talk, nice clear audio, and not screaming in my face. Thanks so much!
FINALLY a video that ACTUALLY tells beginners what to do. So many “for dummies” vids ASSUME so much and never really tell us the basics. Thank you SOOOO much!!!!!!
I truly appreciate the encouragement. My whole goal is to make helpful videos.
thank you for this insightful video,
I am just starting
You are exactly who I hope my videos help. I truly appreciate you taking the time to comment.
How is it going? I've been reluctant to try selling on ebay.
Anyone who’s new to eBay this man is giving you pure gold !!
Thank you so much! I'm still learning how to do this. But my goal is to help people. So, I truly appreciate the comment.
Sellers are able to leave feedback on buyers ?

For all Ebayers: Watch this channel : he is honest, humble, experienced and pleasant person.
That is truly kind. I appreciate the encouragement.
Very solid advice Scot! Great video for new sellers. The number one mistake I made (so many years ago now) was simply being afraid to start!
The fear of starting should have been number one on my list! It stops SO many people.
I can relate to this. As a full time educator (two years from retirement), I want to start this summer and second thoughts have been creeping in.
Me too! I listed six things, then stalled.. but sold 1st item! Which spurred me to learn more today and get on it!
Even a year later, it's still helping people. Thank you for this! God Bless!

100%! I just want to see people succeed. If I can play a small roll in helping them believe in themselves, then all of this becomes worth it.
I love the thought that I was actually helpful. Thank you
I’m just now starting with eBay in 2024.
USPS has combined 1st class and larger into GROUND Advantage. I ship almost everything this way.
Thank you so much for the advice. I started selling on eBay in 1998. I lived a retired life and just dabbled in eBay over the years. I'm 76 years old and the government took my retirement away. I've had to do this again to survive. You video has helped give me hope.
You've got this! If I can do this, I'm sure you can as well.
When selling what type of return address do you use? Your personal home address or a PO Box?
Thank you Scott for your advice. I’m a fellow Texan, retired, starting my eBay business. You and Melody are so helpful. I hope to meet you some day!

It's amazing to me how I find missing items every single time I do an inventory. EVERY TIME. Like...how!? Lol
Thank you scott for being concerned and willing to help others, you explain all basic points very clear & in stepwise manner. Also I like the advice given by sjn-72 about heavy stuff that many times, FedEx or UPS is often cheaper than USPS, so always compare the shipping prices.

List, list and then list some more! Great advice.

@TheChaChingKing lol no worries man. Now, it is make a video on small TH-cam mistakes. I am just helping you get material is all lol. Keep up the good work. We need more positive energy like this.
I just listed my first item yesterday. I have watched this twice, took screen shots, and filled my Amazon cart through your links. Thank you!
LOOK AT YOU GO! You can do this. Allow yourself the same grace that you would anyone learning how to do something new. You've got this!
Thanks for this Scot. Not only are you helpful and informative but you are encouraging.. and funny too. I appreciate you & Melody for sharing all that you do! 💜
You are so kind. Thank you for watching. Melody and I really appreciate you.
Thanks for this. I’ve been selling on eBay for 4+ years and my sales have tanked I’m basically starting from scratch again and relearning the platform so this is very helpful
That's actually a brilliant tip you've given. Sometimes you just have to back up to the basics again to make progress
Thanks a lot mate. Happy New Year from Down Under Australia !
Happy New Year!
Excellent video!!! Short and straight to the point.
Thank you so much!
I'm still learning all the time, too. I suppose it'll be time to stop if I ever feel like there's nothing left to learn. I'm not even close. LOL
I'm new to selling on eBay and doing some due diligence to keep myself educated. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. Subscribed and appreciative.
Thank you so much for the note! I'm still learning too. 😀
Your information makes me feel hopeful. Thanks for sharing
You are fully awesome! Thank you.
YES! Thank you! Simple is good! So many videos are geared toward established sellers. I have basic, beginner questions, you know, the ones we are afraid to ask because they are simple? And we are afraid we'll look stupid? So thank you keep up the great work! You are inspiring!
Just fantastic review for me. It's exactly what I want the videos to do. Thank you so much.
Be well.
Such a beautiful note. Thank you so much
All good information for new sellers.
I never do it, but I want to tell them that they should go ahead, create an account, take pictures, find sold comps, write a description, get it listed, sell it, ship it and then hope it doesn't get returned. lol
@@TheChaChingKing I would love to be there the day that you do. 🙂
Getting ready to jump into selling on eBay and have had many concerns and mainly shipping until I discovered yours channel.
Thank you for doing what you do in sharing your experiences, I'm certain that your having a positive effect on newbies like myself.
I appreciate the encouragement more than you could possibly know. Thank you so much.
Thank you
Thank you so much for the uplifting words. I appreciate you and I'm sure you will help many others.
Yep. Me too!
I mostly use Parcel Select. I charge the customer for shipping and give them the Ebay discount.
LOL
Hope we cross paths again as I hit the estate sales in Texas!
Blessings! ~Wendy
I really appreciate the kind words. I truly want the videos to be helpful
@@TheChaChingKing Hey Scott, just an update. I think the SKU is only available for those with actual stores. I don't have the store yet, and haven't been able to find it as I list. (But I totally could be missing it! LOL)
@@KisnCozns51 Interesting. I am able to add a SKU on my new eBay account. I went back to double check to make sure that I had not accidentally subscribed to a store. I have not....no store or store subscriptions. But I can still enter a SKU.
@@KisnCozns51 When I am listing on the computer, the SKU is just down from where I enter the title.
Thank you for the videos I've recently started selling on eBay as another part of my business
It can be a terrific addition to your income streams.
Thank you Scott! This video was very helpful. I’m just contemplating selling on Ebay and this was very informative. 16:53
I truly appreciate the positive comment. Thank you.
In the gathering inventory and research phase and I just learned of your channel from BOLO Buddies. Your getting started videos are EXACTLY what I need to gain confidence and knowledge. Thank you so much!
That is so awesome to hear. It's encouraging for me, too. I want to create helpful videos.
Hi guys, we have sold on Ebay in the past with slight profit over the years, but just recently we have Givenchy thought to stepping up our game and trying again ...but much more aggressively. You need to know that your videos are super helpful and we are taking strong notes. Thanks so much for all that you do.
Thank you so very, very much!
thank you for being so genuine, simple is usually what we need to hear especially when we over think the process
I still have a long ways to go, but I'm working hard to make genuinely helpful videos. I truly appreciate the feedback.
Solid advice man, good of you 2 help ppl that ain't done it long! Always take pics, no stock, show what you sell.
Appreciate that
Your tips are so concise, simply-put a 'A' class.explaination. you make it sound so doable. Great presentation!
I want to help make it doable if I can. You words are truly encouraging to me. Thank you.
You got this! And thank you so much for the kind comments.
I’ve been selling on eBay since Nov 2000 and still learned something new from your video. Thanks so much! Great information. While I just sold sporadically for fun in the past, now that I’m retired, I’m enjoying selling more and love the shipping feature.
We are in exactly the same boat. It's been tremendous for us.
Hello, I'm from Kazakhstan, can you help me? I want to sell goods like yours. How can I add a card to Ebay? Please help me.
I really
gathered inventory to do flea markets until covid struck. Bad timing-so I'll try online selling.N
Starting slow and steady is usually what I recommend. It gives you time to learn on the job without a ton of risk. You've got this!
YOU ROCK!! THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT INFORMATION..May God Bless you and your family.❤
Nice video! Thank you for taking the time to put this together. You answered a couple questions I had & provided info I didn't know I might need. Blessings
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and I appreciate your optimism and enthusiasm. I have a very large number of items that would do well I’m sure. I’ve sold a number of items infrequently, but have a fear of bogging down with buyers not paying or complaining about this or that. Good advise and thanks!
It's definitely a lot of work. And, not everyone enjoys it. But if you do, there are a lot of opportunities.
I really appreciate you watching!
Great advice Scot! Many of us have learned these things from experience. Thanks for sharing! You and Melody make a good team. I always look forward to your content.
Thank you so very much!
I really appreciate you taking your time to make this video.
Thank you. 😀
I love the global shipping program! Thank you so much
Thank you for the tips! ❤👏
Thank you for all your advice. I am not new to Ebay but I am starting on my own and trying to get reacquainted and updated on any new policies and procedures. Your channel is super helpful. I look forward to learning more from you.
I hope some of the videos prove helpful. You can do this!
I actually really enjoyed this video. You come off as 'just a normal person' and that is so relatable when you're looking for true advice. I have subscribed. Thank you for this.
My wife Melody might disagree with your "normal person" assessment. :-)
All jokes aside, I really want the videos to be helpful to the people who are looking for help and hope.
@@WomanUnfiltered I definitely need to check Pirate Ship again. I already have everything set up, so it doesn't take me much time.
Thank you for sharing your time and passion with us. Putting alot of minds at rest. I do hear a lot about scammers on Ebay, from other youtube resellers. Thank you again for the encouragement to go forward in reselling. 👪❤️🇺🇲
There are scammers, unfortunately. But they aren't the rule. And they become fewer and fewer as your store gains momentum.
Wow, thank you!
All of this is extremely useful info for anyone new to online selling!
Thank you. :-)
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Go back and watch my video about the "shady estate sale." LOL
All joking aside, I appreciate this comment.
Pirate ship is even cheaper than discounts given by eBay and Etsy. Most are not aware of this!
My husband died just passed away and I know I have to get busy also. We can do this!! But I'm brand new learning
All such good tips!! We agree so much!! 💜💜💜 Especially with the inventory management!
Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. (One for each of you)
You got this! The knowledge that you have running booths will be invaluable as you pick up how to use the platform and do the shipping.
