My dad had a friend who bought storage units and he made a lot of money on books. Some of the books he didn't even understand, but he got big bucks for them. Text books sold well too. Happy book selling!
Check your area for Friends of the Library sales-I sell lots of books too and get a lot of my inventory from this annual sale. Large public libraries also sometimes sell year around.
Glad you mentioned this. I have been to our local library sales but there are so many books in a very crowded area & until this video, I've not known which type of book to buy to sell. I've bought books for myself to read & then donated them back to the library to resell or to a local non-profit charity.
I also started selling books after seeing Lonnie sell them. Bought a manga lot and have been doing very well. Turning 2 dollars to 50 adds up fast. Thanks Lonnie and Candice
As a full-time Bookseller for over 12 years, I've been trying to tell Lonnie that nothing has a better roi than books. The fact they are super easy to list store and ship makes it even better.
Damn! You’re exposing my secret favorite category! So many people sell books for next to nothing, lol. I think I’m sitting between 15-20x profit on book ms the year and it’s my top category as an everything seller.
@@reaganxxliquid8erxx973 My best flips came from 2 places. 1st, a Storage Unit I bought had a TON of books. They were all WW2-themed war books as well as books document the color and designs of planes from that era as well. All of it went for AMAZING money. Think my best was a single book that went for nearly $500 called My Logbook by Gunther Rall. Then I also picked up a large stack of Vinyl-catalog books by the author Joel Whitburn for like $0.25 each at a garage sale and they went for $30-$50 a pop.
Thanks for sharing!!! My eBay book sales are up too, I'm hearing that Millennials and Generation Z love reading physical books and they are more popular than e-books!!!
I will say you are definitely leaving easy money on the table if you aren't selling books on Amazon. The FBA program lets you expand your business because they pack, ship & deal with returns. I know its not glamorous to sell a book for $18, but it really adds over a month period when you've sold 100 of them plus the occasional $100+ textbook or whatever.
Great Video, enjoyed the format you used to show the info on book selling. It would be great to see this type of content using some of your other categories, when when you get a chance. Happy holidays! 😉
These end of the year recaps have been great. When I started dabbling in reselling a couple years ago I was watching one of Mike's (GSP) videos and he was talking about how to price a Black's Law Dictionary. I literally found one at Goodwill a week later. Paid $2.99 sold I think for $125 in one day. I saw Mike a little while later in a store and thanked him for the advice, he's super nice. I'm not sure what they sell for now but certain editions are something to look out for. They're big heavy books you can't miss them. Books that I sell for $50 and up I usually upgrade to ground shipping to have insurance. Media mail has good rates but it makes me nervous sometimes lol.
Great video! I’ve also seen an increase in book sales recently. Keep an eye out for RPG and tabletop miniature gaming books also. They can do very well.
I love selling books. And it's very interesting to me to see what books you find in your area as compared to what I find in mine. Thanks for the video!
When I first started reselling I fell for the FBA book selling videos. Now I know you can make money from it but you need a lot of books to cover the FBA fee, I worked out 400+ and those needed to be speciality books not the pulp million plus produced for pennies. I couldn't source enough to make it viable so I like you just have a select amount in my ebay store. Individual books are vintage/speciality/religious and any mass produced I bundle, ie game of thrones, harry potter bundles.
I often will just pass right by the books knowing the other resellers and pickers just pass by. Check the other popular items that people look at then come back and rake
Do books of some value but are in bad shape do they still sell or are people not interested in bad shape books? Ive seen some with mold or other issues
This year, I've learned that bird books can do really well, especially old ones. So stay away from them Lonnie and Candace! Just kidding of course! Love these learning videos, estate sales are awesome for finding these types of books.
@@mccflo99 unless they are in rough condition I almost always use a condition of “good”. Occasionally I’ll use very good or like new if they are especially nice copies. I show packing books often on our other channel which I’ll link below
I just got 80 Agatha Christie hardcovers off of FB Marketplace that I am going to sell on ebay. I was wondering how to charge the buyer for multiple shipping labels and now I know. Thanks for all of the info! (You guys were my inspiration to take the plunge on such a massive set of heavy books.)
Thanks guys for the video and the last one. I also forgot all the high price things that you sold Over the year so it was a good refresher for my shopping memory and books and other media believe it or not are still a thing and coming back slowly into fashion and neccesity as people wanna have all their favorite musics, movies and books. just in case, Will it be put on my Tin Foil Kuffie hat in case something like the internet vanishes. One can still have access to information knowledge of how to do things without it.😊
This video is very helpful to us. We've made a good return on the books we've bought and sold, but we do not always know which type of book to buy. This video will help us know what type to look for to buy. The books we made the most return on are sealed sets, but unfortunately, we've only found a few of them so far.
This is so very helpful because I have loads of books plus most are signed by the authors because I know the authors personally. I'm looking to sell on my eBay but also on Pangobooks. Thanks for sharing this info!
Selous scouts is about Rhodesia, a controversial topic. Controversial topics are a great hint that a book may be valuable. Alternative history, medicine, terrorism, ethnic greivance... people buy it online but not in person.
28:04 Was that Clementine Hunter THAT Clementine hunter? If so no wonder it went nuts. I couldn't do book sets myself, medical weight limits if I didn't want surgery for a fourth time, but I always looked for books too old to have a bar code. Library used book sales attract bar code scanners, always despised them subsituting machinery for learning, and lots of times they'd leave money on the table. I didn't!
I love selling books. Asking a favor. I sent you a message on eBay, which you probably didn’t see, but can you include in your photos for the Al Italiania book, the table of contents? I’m checking for a friend that is interested in this, but she’s looking for some cookie recipies and I couldn’t tell from your pictures if that is included in the book. Thanks for all you do.
Strongly advise people go slowly into book dealing. 1) some people do this for their career including brick and mortar. It takes decades to be an expert… 2) … which is why just scanning and looking at comps is not going to be a win every time. You will miss out on nuances and history that will explain why that book you “thought was good” doesn’t sell. 3) if you are still prone to shipping charge “oopsies” and get people constantly opening issues because of poorly packed items, you need to take a look in the mirror and see if you can put in the time and effort to improve your shipping process. Condition matters. Big. Time. 4) Books can be a goldmine, but the true wealth comes from long term WORK and RESEARCH.
Every time I'm in front of books I have no clue what would sell, I found some old books similar to the La Italiana but nothing they haven't been sold yet. Maybe they are not that interesting? I have no idea, thanks for your tips will help next time I'm out there looking for a book to sell.
I'm very new at this and iwn about 1000 books including all my nursing text books I need to let them go as I'm moving into my Daughters home. May I ask how you can sell books without owing more money than they pay for a book when so many sell a book for 2.60 and free shipping? Please help me understand-I'm an 85 yr old and nit tech savvy!
We sell books but we are picky. Our best book to date was purchased at .50 sold for $2500 to a professor at Harvard. Nothing even remotely close to that though ever again.
You’d be surprised if you do a little research. There is a good seller from Indiana called Roselynn Cookbook that sells for around $60-$70 in good condition! Every region has local cookbooks that churches or restaurants made.
Some sellers work to maintain a certain size, and not grow. We can't always spread out. He did mention a storage unit. We sell out of our home and can't have a big shed like their's. We mostly try to post one for each that we sell.
Hi, I've been watching y'all a long time. I sell a lot of books too. The reason I'm commenting is because I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I'd like to share a bit of education. We believe in the Bible and read the Bible. The book you sold is not our "Mormon Bible". Please do not call it that. The book you sold is what we call our "Triple Combination" and are our other scriptures.
