    HTC is so darn underrated! I mean seriously? Some of you are okay with iPhone having no headphone jack, and not to mention about the bezel and here are y'all hating on HTC. If HTC had a simpler body, some would complain on that, if it had headphone jack the others would be like "this is 2017 who uses aux", if it made bezel-less screen the rest would say "HTC copied Samsung", no matter what HTC does some will always complain. HTC did great in upgrading the headphones to such level at least! It's a quick charge phone, go ahead charge it and use the provided headphones. BAAM! I agree that Samsung Galaxy S8 looks beautiful but look at all the other aspects that HTC is better with in comparison. And personally I think the squeeze option is brilliant. Ever tried using your phone's camera when you're with your gloves on during winter? Or how about under water maybe when you're swimming? I've used various HTC handsets for over a decade now, and have never had any issues. Whereas it progressively got better and now has the best camera in the market!

    everyone complaining about the headphone Jack. They removed it because USB-C can improve the quality of the sound, also, they have active noise cancelling feature, what aux input can't do. Besides, they also provide you with an audio converter cable(free in the box) and some high quality ear buds. How often are you really listening to music whilst charging your phone (it's not even recommended to use your phone while charging). Everyone talks about improvements and change, while no one actually wants change... Haters gonna hate.

  • @intricatedesign3559

    Nice, now there's something for everyone. Those that want the fingerprint scanner on the front and 16:9 aspect ratio don't have to compromise other features anymore, other than a headphone jack. But it's a start at least.

    Sounds like a winner! If I wasn't already romancing an HTC 10, I'd surely consider the U11...However, the metal unibody, the OIS on the front-facer, and of course, the 3.5 headphone jack are difficult to part with...Success with this handset, and Happy 20th Anniversary, HTC!

      MICOLE WHYTE what exactly is wrong with the design, you mean no idiotic curved glass screen and that weird aspect ratio and soap bar design, and this coming from a S7 owner. And in regards to the headphone jack, I never use it on my phone, I use a separate DAP for my music, like the Sony ZX2 or iPod Touch 5th generation, this also saves the battery on my phone.

    • @stevem2323
      @stevem2323 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheChaosblock You should look some of the reviews on TH-cam, they all said that the phone is great. Even in the comments it is hard to find somebody who is not excited about it, or not wanting to get him. U 11 is simply top phone, even hardcored Samsung lovers admit that.

    • @TheChaosblock
      @TheChaosblock 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The HTC 10 was by far the best phone from any major Android OEM, yet it didn't "bring HTC back" why do you think this will fair any better. They removed the Headphone Jack and have an already outdated chipset within the device, all for what? A gimmicky pressure sensor, anything this thing can do, can simply be done by creating a bindable button.

    • @Justdigit2
      @Justdigit2 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheChaosblock LOL an outdated processor?? WTF are you talking about? And Edge Sense... Don't judge before you have the chance to use it. It's not a gimmick.

    • @TheChaosblock
      @TheChaosblock 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was my mistake but the main point still stands at the end of the day, there is no real reason to buy this HTC U11 over the OnePlus 5.

  • @holycrapimbatman1760
    @holycrapimbatman1760 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For me i would buy this rather than S8 for the following reasons...:
    1. Fingerprint scanner placement
    2. Finally, a better camera
    3. Better music.
    4. A better and clean UI
    5. Nice colours.
    i don't mind the bezels. i want FP on the front but not on the back and that too a wierd position like S8. there is iris scanner and facial recognition, but i don't want to look at the camera every time i want to unlock the phone. i like the design of S8 though. But looks aren't everything to me. Htc U11 has a great back too. so i will go for this one...( I am not degrading Samsung here, its just my opinion)

  • @darkfeeels
    @darkfeeels 7 ปีที่แล้ว +64

    Does anyone else miss the old times when there just used to be one simple review? We didn't have unboxing, 24 hour, dozens of comparisons, audio review, camera review then finally the review of the phone? Like I can understand the importance of audio and camera reviews being separate but all the other videos are a plain nuisance.
    I like pocketnow don't get me wrong, been following it for years but tactics like these are just milking or cheesing the review

    • @MrMrabaunza
      @MrMrabaunza 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      DarkFeels just skip the videos you're not interested in. I never watch the audio reviews because I use Bluetooth headphones. I usually skip the camera review as well. I get all the info I need from the actual review.

    • @darlenepaul2934
      @darlenepaul2934 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      DarkFeels No I don't. I love the many different reviews.If you don't just don't watch them.Simple solution!

    • @Jhihmoac
      @Jhihmoac 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DarkFeels - The only ones I pay attention to is the full review (after some time has been spent with the handset), and the "6 Months Later" review (which usually take place only with more popular and/or higher-end devices)...The latter of the two is more important to me because this is when I usually make my decision on a new handset - After the test of time...

    • @darkfeeels
      @darkfeeels 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the full review and the year later reviews are the most helpful, they are helpful in telling how the phone was at it's present and how it aged both physically and software support wise.

    • @darkfeeels
      @darkfeeels 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the full review is usually the most helpful one and covers stuff broadly. But personally i do like camera reviews - Juan does a great job at them and it's helpful to know if you're spending dollars for flagship that what you'll end up with.

      JPeace116 "Small" compromise considering the dongle has a DAC in it

    • @J_Peace
      @J_Peace 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Every USB-C to 3.5mm dongle has a DAC built in.. that's how they work. But it doesn't mean it will be a good DAC.. and besides, you can't charge you're phone and use traditional headphones simultaneously.. The phone looks great, but I don't see why removing the headphone jack was necessary for a phone this size. I hate that Motorola and Apple started this trend..

      JPeace116 Nope, with the HTC bolt or the Moto Z neither the headphones nor the adaptor has a DAC bulit in, HTC and Motorola actually rewired a analogue output via de USB-C port.

    What is HTC's record with upgrading software ? I am considering this , the Pixel 2, whenever it comes out, or the Essential phone( I am not gonna bother with anything from Samsung,LG,Motorola or One+) I know the pixel will always get the newest software , I suspect , given the owner of the company , the Essential also will. How does HTC do with that ? I need a phone soon , since my X Pure is pure garbage by now ( albeit only 11 months old , since it is a replacement for another that crapped out on month 6 ) and it seems the HTC U11 will hit the market first .

    So exactly how many sessions do you need for the review of the phone? One for unboxing, one for one-day impression, one for audio, one for camera, what else?

    htc bragged that all U11s have 2.1 memory, but is it true that U11 has LPDDR4x ram and what does it mean compare standard 4 in S8? I saw some comments but I am not familiar with 4x.... edge sense feature is really useful, it's strange noone ever before included this handy thing.

      Harsh reality but yes. Samsung sells over 300 million phones every year. Even the flagships from Samsung gets sold over 50M units every single year. Can the same be said for hTc or any other Android smartphone company? Hence its always Samsung's year.

    I am confused between U11 & Samsung Galaxy S8.
    I am more of a camera and music guy.
    Bezels I don't care.
    Could you please do a full review of camera comparison between the two.

    • @alexdiezg
      @alexdiezg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shis Chougule I have no review for you but if where you I would wait till the U11 camera reviews are out. Then I would compare it to the S8 and see which one I prefer the most. You're into music listening so the U11 is the winner compared to the S8. If it beats the camera too, go for U11 without hesitation. If the S8 camera is still better then you have to sacrifice the music listening and get the S8 for better camera or sacrifice camera and get the U11 for better music listening.
      Hope this helps!

      Sacred I'm the same way with LG G6, but both the G6 and s8 give you some more lifestyle features, like higher ip wireless charging (in US), quality headphone jacks (important for me personally) and I've been driving especially deep into looking up camera samples and so far all three are very close to one another

    • @zelenctomi
      @zelenctomi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Beside the display of the s8, u11 is superior, it has better camera, speakers, it has a way better performance and it doesn't lagg after a year like most of the samsung phones, and the u11 also has squeeze and it has a better os(sense), which looks nicer than the new touchwizz, also you will not miss the wireless charging, which is a useless feature if there's fast charge in a phone, and that ip68 water resistance over ip67 doesn't mean much, only minor difference. If you want a phone and not a jewelry(s8) then you should be more than happy to get the new htc

    • @zelenctomi
      @zelenctomi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Samsung has a great reputation for not being durable in terms of softvare, and u11's camera was rated as the best smartphone camera at DXO, if you don't trust that you can watch camera comparisons yourself or wait for Pocketnow to upload one, and for the rest, the plus features on the u11 makes it outstanding, like the superior speakers and performance, which i mentioned, and on geekbench both of them score nearly the same, but optimization means more than raw numbers, as you can see that the loading time for apps and games on u11 will be faster, but samsung was never the fastest to say the least, iphones were (because of the good optimization which i talkes about). So my point is that, which do you prefer, a better looking phone(s8), or a better phone itself(u11)?

      Sacred the U 11 has my vote for it's great camera, true 5.5 inch display, and audio experience. The Edge Sense is icing on the cake.

    No compromises? There's a 3000mAh battery there dude, in a phone that's as thick as a Mate9. Also, no headphone jack, probably to make room to that enormous battery.
