If you are a regular user of prime lenses on actual cameras you get really used to that and you understand the advantages. I really recommend it even on a smartphone which has 10x optical zoom. If you can get closer and take the shot with the main camera it will be better

yeah noone even mentions the quality of the signal, wi-fi, speaker sound, voice quality etc. I had major disapointments with One Plus 3 but you don't see a reviewer mention the poor quality of the speaker. I have been using this phone for 2 weeks and here's my review: Battery has been great. For an average phone user that spends a lot of time watching TH-cam and Netflix, and lots of social media, the battery lasts me nearly a day. I get 8 hours of on screen time on the phone and I do not take my charger home after work on the weekdays. This is with 120 Refresh Rate on and the brightness above 50% for most of the part. When watching TH-cam, obviously it's very close to 100%, if not at 100%. The fingerprint scanner is not that great. My Google Pixel 2 XL had the BEST fingerprint scanner I've ever used on a smart phone. A slight touch on it and my phone would look. With this phone, you have to REALLY hold down on it, and sometimes it does not work. The screen is gorgeous. It's Samsung so you expect the quality to be great and it is. The punch hole on top people cry about, I barely ever notice it's there until I look for it. The build feels very solid. You could knock someone out with it as it does weigh a lot, due to the glass on front and back and a beautiful, monster battery. It feels premium. I was expecting the camera to be the best. That's why I bought it. Samsung claims it'll make a you wanna take more photos/videos but THAT IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL. My LG V20 took better photos. I use Pixel 2 XL to take photos instead of this $1400 phone with new sensors/software. The video isn't that great because the focus is still a big issue, for videos and pictures. The pictures this phone takes, I could get that from a $400 phone. If you want to buy the phone with a camera, stick with Pixel lineup or the new iPhones. It makes me mad now that I'm writing about how bad the camera is. South Koreans have the latest update on the auto-focus but the quality is not that great either. My brother's S10+ takes much better photos than this Galaxy Ultra S20 I have! Definitely buy a protective case and screen protector. It's worth spending extra $50 for protection. It was water proof. It has been "toilet drop" tested, not on purpose of course. I wiped it with alcohol layers after layers with tissue and so far there has been no issues with speakers and touchscreen sensitivity. Is this worth $1400? Absolutely not. I DO love the big screen that looks incredible, and I DO love the powerful speakers, and the battery life is just simply amazing. You are able to customize it exactly to your liking, on the home screen, lock screen, and Always On Display. I have the Always On Display and the battery still doesn't go to 0% after 24 hours, idle or not. The $1400 price tag is there for the so-called the best camera on the back, which is beaten hands down by Pixel 2 XL that has an older processor/sensor. I could've had a similar experience with S20+ and not pay that much. I gave up on the camera/video and try to forget the phones can be used for camera. This phone will not make you enjoy photography. Again, I pull my Pixel 2 XL phone out to take pictures, so this phone is worth it if you want to enjoy a new phone experience. Edit: I've tried two different screen protectors and my fingerprint scanner doesn't work, even with the Touch Sensitivity on. Now I use the PIN to enter my phone each time because I would rather have a screen not cracked or scratched. It's still annoying using PIN when Samsung promised this has the best scanner they ever made. I've been using the 60 Hz refresh rate phone for years. I was excited to switch to 120 Hz, and maybe felt a 1% difference in smoothness.

The point is that only war, sports, wildlife and similar photographers - those who for safety or other reasons can’t get close to their subjects - really “need” those big, heavy, expensive tele and/or zoom lenses. Intro photo classes always stress the “zooming with your feet” thing to prove that you don’t need a bagful of lenses to take great shots. Some of the greatest photogs of all time only used one or two lenses. It also teaches you to not be afraid to approach and get intimate with your subjects.
@@rollingrocky3608 the 24 actually came from film; of course technology evolved quickly and now movies only use 24 fps because the viewers like that. Yes, the reason why studios still use lower fps is because people are trained to percieve that lower frame rate as "more cinematic".
@@rollingrocky3608 Human eyes (and brain) can easily feel and detect the difference between framerates. And a trained eye can definitely catch the frame transition at 24 fps. 60-70 is a more "correct" framerate to fool human brain, the higher the smoother it feels. For framerates at 30 and below, it should be a very stable framerate (same exact time for each frame on screen) to feel decent, and you can see yourself at the cinema, even with state of the art equipment it sucks bad for action scenes at 24 fps. For a phone, 4k 60 should be the goal. 8k is just useless numbers, moreso if its shooting that bad at that framerate. you can barely see 4k res on a 60" display. 8k is simply overkill untill we all have 85"tvs in our homes (and even at that point you arent expected to shoot hollywood grade videos with your smartphone )

To the cinematographers 8k and even beyond is good for them , but for the mobile and social media consumers , 4k 24,30,60fps is the best quality right now and i want them to give me the most stable 4k 60fps like they are giving in 1080p 30fps gimble like stabilization and i dont need higher resolution.

If I remember correctly, it was greatly improved. Quality at higher zoom levels was cleaned up, and focus on the main was largely fixed; however, they could not be entirely removed. The Note 20 Ultra was Samsung's redemption arc, implementing the needed hardware changes.

yeah noone even mentions the quality of the signal, wi-fi, speaker sound, voice quality etc. I had major disapointments with One Plus 3 but you don't see a reviewer mention the poor quality of the speaker. It's like they don't even care if you use it like a phone, that is why I am even buy it from the first place!!!

I have been using this phone for 2 weeks and here's my review:
Battery has been great. For an average phone user that spends a lot of time watching TH-cam and Netflix, and lots of social media, the battery lasts me nearly a day. I get 8 hours of on screen time on the phone and I do not take my charger home after work on the weekdays. This is with 120 Refresh Rate on and the brightness above 50% for most of the part. When watching TH-cam, obviously it's very close to 100%, if not at 100%.
The fingerprint scanner is not that great. My Google Pixel 2 XL had the BEST fingerprint scanner I've ever used on a smart phone. A slight touch on it and my phone would look. With this phone, you have to REALLY hold down on it, and sometimes it does not work.
The screen is gorgeous. It's Samsung so you expect the quality to be great and it is. The punch hole on top people cry about, I barely ever notice it's there until I look for it. The build feels very solid. You could knock someone out with it as it does weigh a lot, due to the glass on front and back and a beautiful, monster battery. It feels premium.
I was expecting the camera to be the best. That's why I bought it. Samsung claims it'll make a you wanna take more photos/videos but THAT IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL. My LG V20 took better photos. I use Pixel 2 XL to take photos instead of this $1400 phone with new sensors/software. The video isn't that great because the focus is still a big issue, for videos and pictures. The pictures this phone takes, I could get that from a $400 phone. If you want to buy the phone with a camera, stick with Pixel lineup or the new iPhones. It makes me mad now that I'm writing about how bad the camera is. South Koreans have the latest update on the auto-focus but the quality is not that great either. My brother's S10+ takes much better photos than this Galaxy Ultra S20 I have!
Definitely buy a protective case and screen protector. It's worth spending extra $50 for protection.
It was water proof. It has been "toilet drop" tested, not on purpose of course. I wiped it with alcohol layers after layers with tissue and so far there has been no issues with speakers and touchscreen sensitivity.
Is this worth $1400? Absolutely not. I DO love the big screen that looks incredible, and I DO love the powerful speakers, and the battery life is just simply amazing. You are able to customize it exactly to your liking, on the home screen, lock screen, and Always On Display. I have the Always On Display and the battery still doesn't go to 0% after 24 hours, idle or not. The $1400 price tag is there for the so-called the best camera on the back, which is beaten hands down by Pixel 2 XL that has an older processor/sensor. I could've had a similar experience with S20+ and not pay that much.
I gave up on the camera/video and try to forget the phones can be used for camera. This phone will not make you enjoy photography. Again, I pull my Pixel 2 XL phone out to take pictures, so this phone is worth it if you want to enjoy a new phone experience.
Edit: I've tried two different screen protectors and my fingerprint scanner doesn't work, even with the Touch Sensitivity on. Now I use the PIN to enter my phone each time because I would rather have a screen not cracked or scratched. It's still annoying using PIN when Samsung promised this has the best scanner they ever made.
I've been using the 60 Hz refresh rate phone for years. I was excited to switch to 120 Hz, and maybe felt a 1% difference in smoothness.

Antonio Aguilar Haha, yeah it’s old tried-and-true (but admittedly a lil silly) shutterbugs’ jargon. The point is that only war, sports, wildlife and similar photographers - those who for safety or other reasons can’t get close to their subjects - really “need” those big, heavy, expensive tele and/or zoom lenses.
Intro photo classes always stress the “zooming with your feet” thing to prove that you don’t need a bagful of lenses to take great shots. Some of the greatest photogs of all time only used one or two lenses. It also teaches you to not be afraid to approach and get intimate with your subjects.

@@rollingrocky3608 the 24 actually came from film; of course technology evolved quickly and now movies only use 24 fps because the viewers like that. Yes, the reason why studios still use lower fps is because people are trained to percieve that lower frame rate as "more cinematic".
@@rollingrocky3608 Human eyes (and brain) can easily feel and detect the difference between framerates. And a trained eye can definitely catch the frame transition at 24 fps.
60-70 is a more "correct" framerate to fool human brain, the higher the smoother it feels. For framerates at 30 and below, it should be a very stable framerate (same exact time for each frame on screen) to feel decent, and you can see yourself at the cinema, even with state of the art equipment it sucks bad for action scenes at 24 fps.
For a phone, 4k 60 should be the goal. 8k is just useless numbers, moreso if its shooting that bad at that framerate. you can barely see 4k res on a 60" display. 8k is simply overkill untill we all have 85"tvs in our homes (and even at that point you arent expected to shoot hollywood grade videos with your smartphone )

They need batteries to upload all your personal data to some CIA database, so it's actually a reasonable amount.
Samsung has a lot of buyers in Korea, and 5G is currently deployed really fast there. So even if it's not important to you in the US, there's others countries !

Haha... Me too, even i mostly use 360 - 480p on TH-cam since higher resolution drain my data plan too fast. So i prefer quantity over quality, as long i can see a person eyes, nose, mouth I'm good :).
To the cinematographers 8k and even beyond is good for them , but for the mobile and social media consumers , 4k 24,30,60fps is the best quality right now and i want them to give me the most stable 4k 60fps like they are giving in 1080p 30fps gimble like stabilization and i dont need higher resolution.

Question! How has the camera been after some updates, were the hardware flaws too great? It seemed to have potential without proper execution upon launch
If I remember correctly, it was greatly improved. Quality at higher zoom levels was cleaned up, and focus on the main was largely fixed; however, they could not be entirely removed. The Note 20 Ultra was Samsung's redemption arc, implementing the needed hardware changes.
