This plastic model drag racer may date back to 1964! Who knows how early it came? I've never seen these things at first. I first lived at 520 Mello Lane. I also never acted or reasoned my age. It has definitely grabbed my attention the most. It's always something that's unexpected. 💯
A very different kit, you are getting good experience with the motorcycle builds. Looks great, good idea covering the seams with those stick on jewels.
Very unfortunate design since the top of the crown is so prominent. The those braces really should have been one piece but the designers must have had their reasons to split them like that. It would not have been an issue if it wasn't in chrome. The jewels (can't take credit for that as I came across some online picture where someone did that) was an act of desperation just trying to hide a very ugly feature.
This was one of three kits that used same frame, engine, tires but different body. I know that two were reissued. Had some of the same problems you had. I went for the gold look and lots of fake jewels. Also painted fabric of the crown with texture paint then purple matte. Nice thing about these kits, anything goes, have fun.
Yes,the scalemates entry shows the convoluted history of this kit. I've only seen one of the other two out in the wild. As I mentioned at the beginning, I also intended to go with the gold and then had a change of heart. I knew that if I tried fabric I would mess it up as I have no experience making contoured shapes. Let me know if there is a link to see an image of yours as I would love to see it.
I built the Torque Trike and found three other Trick Trikes at Ollies for $12.99 each. I have Tiki Trike in the works, might finish this week. I also just bought the Large Scale Tom Daniel Trike as a bagged kit from Atlantis for $20 or $25. I am loving what you did with this. Been thinking about this kit for a while. Thanks for the tips on the tires and such.
Unfortunately we don't have Ollies (or Hobby Lobby) here in Canada. There are a few places where surplus model stock sometimes shows up at great prices, but nothing like Ollies. We do have a few stores that buy and resell collections, and we also have a few decent model trade and market events with older kits. So it's not Ollies but it's not too bad either. Looking forward to seeing your Tiki build.
@@dariosmodelbuilds It's shame international shipping is so insanely expensive. Otherwise I'd send you a list. There are times where we get really great deals. The kits are sometimes hit and miss, but I've gotten some good ones over the years. I know Atlantis is doing a line of kits going directly to Ollies for the holidays. The only one I know for sure is coming is a repop of the Old Aurora Indian Chief kit...
@@thegluebombshow Thanks for the thought, but don't sweat it. It's not like I (or any other modeller 😁) have a shortage of kits to build. Now finding the time to actually make a dent in our stashes, that's something I fret over.
@@dariosmodelbuilds Ain't that the truth. I did cartoon about that once. I had a guy saying he builds three kits a year, has three thousand kits in his stash, and comes to the conclusion, that he can build them all.
I did not see the Milk Trike on your channel. Must have missed that one. I'm always keeping an eye out for the Trike series. I do see them at shows/stores but for some reason they have gotten really popular lately so the prices have gone up accordingly. But I'm sure I'll eventually find a few reasonably priced at some point.
Very cool build, I recently built the Mail Box Chopper for the #rustbucketgb24 and it was fun, came out great. I enjoyed your video. Just subbed ya! 👍🏻 #under1000gb24 Jump in, its made for channels just like yours 👊🏻
I participated in last years rustbucket build (see my Model T which I made into an Archie-mobile) but just too busy to enter this year's GB. Thanks for watching. (Already a long time subscribers of your channel).
I have a huge stash so no point in having models shipped. I'm sure I'll eventually find them for reasonable prices as I do see them often at shows and a model trade/flea market held locally once or twice a year. Thanks for the offer anyhow.

Cool build! The royal blue really comes out in the beauty shots.
Definitely easier than the Harley. A relatively quick build
That's a great model I have one too still in the box
I hope you have as much fun with it as I did and that my video helps.
Royal rail looks awesome Dario. Great job.👍
Thanks David. I'm happy with the results.

That turned out real nice! It has that show rod look!
Thanks. This one seems to be a popular video. Maybe this kit is not as common as I thought it was.
I’ve never seen it before. It would be cool to use the material from the Crown Royal bag.
Cool kit, I had picked up the Milk Trick, Nice kit review and build. Great video Dario!
Thanks. This video seems to be extra popular. Glad you enjoyed.

I did a buddy build with the Bearded guy Jeff. And it's a fun build.
Great job on this old gem. Got ya subbed. Model on.
Cool kit. I must get one to try. 👍
I do recommend every modeller try at least of these trike kits. If nothing else, each is very different.
KUDOS ON THE BUILD YO!💯
That is a Cool Build.👍👍
Thanks for watching.
Cool build!
Nice job. Just found your channel gave you a sub

I have 4 different kits from the series, I would sell or trade
