Nice obscure kit and a fitting tribute to Chris, he's always going to be missed in the modeling community. I like how much detail you created with both the painting and decals. 👍
Yeah, I think most of the video is describing all the 'extras' I threw in than actual kit building. But I thought that making an instructional video was fitting for Chris. Thanks for watching.
I was wowed by the detail work you did on the cabin interior and all the lights, but I'm surprised you didn't light the candles. 😄 It's a great tribute to Chris Cortel with all those lights added, he would have appreciated it.
Those candles were tougher than you think. I cut them out of some stretched sprues I had and they kept flying off or falling onto the carpet monster every time I thought I had two fairly similar thickness candles. This was repeated again when I tried to get two matching candle bases from thicker sprues. If I could have found something that was the approximate size of a plate I was going to try to make a bowl of fruit to put between the candles. Had to give up on that idea. 😳
I've seen this kit around a few times, but I would never, ever have guessed that it originated from Crayola. This was a really fun build to follow, I really liked the lights that you added to this. I'm going to check out your Titanic vidoe later as I have a project that I want to light up and I need some more info on how to do it.
I'm assuming that Crayola just contracted out the kit to Revell at the time. If you look closely at the Crayola box you will see a smaller Revell logo. Good luck with lighting up your model and hope to see whatever you have planned on your channel.
Apologies Dario, I just found out about your channel! Interesting looking sub. I have never seen that before. You had a little bit of a rough road with it. But it turned out super! That is definitely something Chris would have built and I'm sure he would have loved your build of it!
No apologies necessary. Thanks for hosting the "Classic Plastic 101 Hangout" which allows Chris' videos to live on. Chris is gone but will not be forgotten and those videos will allow newcomers to the hobby experience his many contributions.
"Professor Aronnax, Nemo has invited Conseil to the rear of the ship to inspect his throbbing crimson engine." "Ah Ned, I believe we have misjudged Captain Nemo, he seems to be much like any other sailor I have known."
1997? I think I saw it long before that. I've seen both the Michael Caine and Ben Cross as Nemo movies and they both sucked. You missed nothing. And neither of the Nautilus' in either movie looked like this one. I have not watched modeling videos for a few years. I watched a few Classic Plastic vids a while back but never heard he'd died. RIP. Great job on the model, but I'd have covered most of the glowy orb with black paint except for the central bulge facing outward and probably left most of the lower backside unpainted. But that's just me. I think I've got 2 models in my home and I've done nothing on either of them since they were purchsed. It's been over 10 years since I got the last one.
As I explain in the video, this kit was put out by Crayola at some point as a tie-in to the kiddie version of the movie. I can only assume that Crayola thought that young kids would be buying it, which is why it is a "Snaptite" kit and has stickers instead of proper decals.

That is a great tribute to Chris, turned out really nice, I know he's watching Dario and smiling 🙏
Really miss his videos. 😞
Nice lighted Nautilus Dario and tribute build. I'm impressed with your peg circuit board tester. 😊

I've been there also trying to make similar pieces and one flies off into oblivion.
Funky little model. I like how you enhanced the interior décor to a higher standard. The lighting turned out well too.
Thanks. I still with the kit included one figure to make the room more realistic.
Great work Dario!

Very nice! The electronics do the model justice. Nice build!
Grazie!
Really great!
Merci.
Very nice
Less wiring than doing an Enterprise D. 😉
@@dariosmodelbuilds So true :)

I found it strange that they produced a model kit from an obscure, poorly executed TV movie.
