I got to spend a day test riding a Street Twin and I just couldn't stop riding it. There's just something magical about how easy to ride that bike is
I have a 2020 Diamond Edition T120 and I am about to buy a Gold Line Street Twin. I bought my first Triumph--a 1966 TR-6--in 1981. I hope to take the factory tour someday, as I am a real fan!
I tried both bikes and to me the biggest difference was the seating position, that's why I went with the T100.
Why?
Twins clocks are the appeal for me, but one point is the twin is a lot lighter than the t100, but with the same engine spec etc. So I'd assume with the four pot break it'll be a better performer of the two..
I prefer the ST over the T100, although, of all the Triumph bikes, the T100 would be my second choice. One thing I like about the T100 that you didn't mention was the 1" bars. I like the bigger, thicker bars and also the grips on the T100 over the ST. So unless I could afford both bikes, I'm keeping my ST!

This is literally the video I was waiting on. Now that restrictions are easing where I live I need to go and test ride the two. The video was good, but it didn't make my decision any easier. I am hoping a test ride will help give a clear winner. Fingers crossed
I had a First gen street twin 2016. A friend of mine got a T100 2019. The street twin is a very low bike, the T100 it is higher, not only the seat, but in trail as well, you can notice the deference between the two bikes just looking at. This might not be a problem for some places, but here in Brazil this is the difference of a bike that scratch on the road sometimes, and the one that doesn’t. Now I got a Street Scrambler, definitely the more practical boneville.
Bonneville for me too, I prefer the styling and found it much more spacious and comfortable, probably because of the higher seat height.
Rob so my wife has a 2020 street twin I have a 2020 street scrambler we both love our bikes. The ST sounds much better than my SS in stock form. I am considering the T120 as my next bike but that changes weekly😂😂. The T100 looks more classic than the ST and in my opinion the twin clocks on it are much much nicer than the single on both the ST and SS. Love the Bud Ekins colours too👍.
Not long until the Speed Twin update is announced so I'd wait for that before pulling the trigger on a T120! Interesting about the sound difference - they really nailed it on the Street Twin. I guess it's the twin exit? Perhaps the single high level pipe stifles it a little...
My current ride is a 2018 T120. I love the very smooth power delivery. No matter what gear you're in just twist the throttle and the bike just pulls. My only upgrades coming up will be a one inch up/one inch back bar riser and some shorter, up-swept slip ons. I've never liked the looks of the pea shooters and I hate that they interfere with chain maintenance.
Otherwise I really love my Bonnie.
I travel half way across the US just to locate one in competition green/fusion white. To me it's the prettiest color combo.
I may add a flyscreen and perhaps some canvas panniers at some point.
I've made those mods on my T120 - add an x-pipe too - you'll really love the pull.
I just visited the Triumph dealer in Chicago, they did not have the street twin, I want to compare them, I'm only 5'- 4", I need to see it in person.
Got myself the 2016 model as my first bike right at the beginning of the pandemic (around March). Weeks later when all the bars/events started closing to the public on my city, I’d say I hit the jackpot on the timing 😂
Just bought today The T100 Jet Black which is verry difficult to get in Holland. Nowwhere in stock. But my fafourit color with those chrome accensts. Delivery first week of March. 🙏🏻😍
I prefer the 'modern retro' look of the ST. I bought an ST Gold Line. I wish that there was a bike with the modern 'retro' style of the Street Twin but with the engine, gearbox, instrumentation and the brakes of a T120. The Speed Twin is aimed at Ducati riders, not at the mid-size highway cruiser or UJM market.
I would prefer to have the dual clocks. I much prefer the look of the Street Twin exhausts. I slightly prefer the forks on the T100. I'm 50/50 on the wheels, I like both cast and spoked wheels. I'd probably get a custom seat for either model, so that doesn't matter. I like the tank on the Street Twin better.
I mostly like the Street Twin. The dual clocks are big point scored for the T100 though... I like having a rev counter.
The seat alone on the T100 is just so damn good. Feels like angels are holding your ass very comfortable. If I could get the seat on the 900 I probably would pick that up
Those black rims and the paint job on the T100 work for me.
I just did 250 miles on a T100 and like you my own bike is the first gen street twin. I think you’re right. The owner do the t100 also tuned the front and rear suspension with heavier oil and new springs for a more rigid ride. Both good mods and loads better than the squishy feel of the street twin. Very tempted to swap for a t100!

Why, oh why do they still go with those tyres on the Street Twin? I rode mine for a couple fo thousand miles, tyres catching faint imperfections on the road like someone kicking my wheels, and having to forcibly use countersteering to get round corners and even to weave the bike on the road - then I changed to another brand (Roadtec 01s) and what a difference - can weave just with my hips and hardly notice road imperfections and tar lines. Still a nice looking bike though, though I agree that the T100 looks better than it did with the new colours. Thanks for the vid.
As an every day ride it's the street for me , looks easier to clean with less bling and I'm a short arse , bear this in mind though , I already have a Thunderbird LT which has more than enough chrome and wire wheels to be getting on with thankyou , so the street with its cast wheels and simplicity would be the one I choose out of these 2 for every day use .

Absolutely loving our T100 Rob! Farkles? None required. Neither decat, noisy pipes or anything else. Fuelling is perfect too, almost carb-like in it's delivery. 65-75 mpg already with still only 1000 miles on the bike. It has loosened up noticeably over the last 200 miles and accelerates with the lightest touch of throttle now.
I have a Street Twin as i will never go back to having wire wheels - not ever! ;)
At 42 i prefer the street twin as it looks more modern and will stand out amongst a thousand bonnys because all the bonnys look the same to me plus with a 27inch leg i can touch the floor firmly on the street twin.
I’m so with you on the look of the current Street Twin. I would also choose the T100 if I was buying again now. Just has those lovely retro lines. Great video as always

I love the sound of the Street Twin's Vance & Hines. There's a combination of the two bikes I'd love to have: The Street Twin with both the Bonnevile's Red & White tank and wire spokes. Also I prefer the look of the Bonneville's white-trimmed seat.
I like both, but I like the simpler looking Street Twin and its easier to clean rims. I had a spoked rim bike and it was very hard to keep clean.
I was all about the T120, but it’s a bit expensive for what it offers and the Speed Twin makes more sense at that price. The T100 now seems like the best value and I like the styling changes. Street Twin still has the best stock exhaust sound.
While I also like the T100, I do have a couple reservations. The black engine and rims may be in vogue currently, for me though, it looks out of place with a 2-tone tank color. That said, the biggest concern is the extra 27 lbs of weight the T100 carries. This provides the Street Twin w/ a serious advantage, especially considering it's considerably less expensive.

Tricky, I think I'd have the street twin. I'd have to change too much on the T100 and, although I like the black rims, I still have nightmares about cleaning the spokes on my bonneville!
Street Twin is cheaper, lighter and agile. I prefer to buy STwin and invest some accesories.

I like the red and white paint scheme on the T100 shown. The Street Twin's colour scheme shown here is a bit too camouflaged for me.
I guess over all I prefer the shape of the T100 , apart from the wire wheels. Wire wheels look good, but too much cleaning, and no tubeless tyres. So I'd like the T100 with Street Twin wheels. Brakes sound better on the Street Twin.
Overall, there's not really a lot between them, most retro bike lovers would probably be pretty happy with either

If the street twin had the twin clocks it would be the clear winner for me. Shame it’s not an extra you can add, or even better they come as standard

Having owned Hinckley Bonnevilles from 01 ( 01/06/10 + 900 Scrambler) I can say at the moment I would buy an air/oil cooler at the prices they are going for. Very little difference in the liquid coolers other than the single cam, ABS. Close to the same performance but a good 790/865 will cost you $3-5000 full whack. For my money if one really wants a screamer the T120 or Thruxton ( I have one) are the way to go. 6 gears and a lot more bhp/torque. If you are in the market and the new vs old bothers you then by all means either of these will do.
I just bought an 06 and can't believe how nice and utilitarian it is; thinking about getting another one. 06-07 have the 865 carbs,
I keep hearing Triumph bragging about getting more power whilst being compliant with Euro 5 regulations. To me it just shows that the power had been kept artificially low in the first place in order not to overlap with T120 sales. For a near 1000cc engine, 60 odd horsepower is still on the low side....
It’s more about ensuring the bike stays reliable along with performance. It’s a balance to maintain. Euro emissions don’t make that easier either. Hence improvements over time happens for engines with more refinement, with the same or more levels of reliability over the years.
These machine made for torque, no power. 80nm is quite appreciated for a 900cc
T100 looks like an old man’s bike . ST looks very modern retro. Just ordered mine.
Here in Spain, the T100 is 1850€ more than the Street Twin. I don't how they can justify such difference.

Going for a classic looking bike, nothing but steel spokes will do, for me the alloy wheels just clash with the esthetic. But if you don't care about looking like 1970, both are great bikes!
Test rode the Street Twin last week and loved it. Sadly, no stock anywhere and they're quoting October for deliveries. We decided rather than buy a bike at the end of the season we'd rather wait till spring 2022. The dealer had a T100 in stock though and worked out a deal too good to be missed. So we'll very soon be the proud owners of a 2021 T100 (in exactly the same colour scheme as the one in your video). If we'd bought the Street Twin I'd be raiding the parts catalogue anyway as it begs to be customised whereas the T100 has all the bits we like already.
Cars stopped having spoked wheels years ago. They're a faff to clean and I don't particularly go for the looks either. They remind me of my arch enemies on the road.
I've been lusting over a Street Twin as an upgrade bike since I got my Yamaha MT-03 last November. I'm going to put some serious miles on the MT-03 first, but when I'm ready it'll for sure be on my radar. I love the slightly more modern but still classic look.

If the riding position was friendlier to my height 5ft 11in then it would be the Twin but as it stands the T100 will probably be my next bike.
Love the T100 to bits. It’s just a really classic classic!. Worried about the engine heating on long runs with the T100 though. Not sure if there’s an after market fix for that?
I've been lusting after a Bonnie for a long while now, but since the Royal Enfield's (Interceptor/Continental GT) have arrived on the scene, its hard to justify the large additional expense :-(
My friend has a continental GT. There’s a pretty big difference in quality between that and the Triumphs IMO. More features, like the riding modes, better fit and finish, and more power. The RE is pretty good value, but there’s definitely a step up with the Triumphs.
True. The additional expense is for hipster photo shoot. Better finish and quality . But not essential . It’s gonna age anyway.

Besides the quality factor , interceptor is only 650cc while recent Bonnies are at least 865cc

Triumph's branding of their bikes has always left me a little confused (t100, t120, street twin, speed twin...), as it's not as obvious as other makes as to what exactly you're getting. Not to mention that within each riding style, they all look pretty similar. Thanks for clearing it up slightly, Bob.

Dilemma: The low seat height of the speed 900 vs tube tyres on the T100. If only Triumph gave a tubeless option on the T100 and T120
T100 was always the best all rounder with style, specially if you use it for commuting 98% of the time like I do, and it still is, but when you think about the t120 or the speed twin for a little bit more money (ok...a biig little bit but ok in second hand, still in warranty) I kind of get the idea in my skull that... meh... It's like having a porsche 718...yes, It is a porsche but it just shows the world that you didn't have the money to buy the 911 :D

I wouldn't buy any bike with tubed tyres, unless it was a 200/250/300 dirt bike. The Street Twin looks better. I'll take the ... Speed Twin. Haha!

I’m in the same boat - mum paid for driving lessons when I was 17 to steer me away from bikes like dad and older brother. I’m now in my fifties and on my second cbt with full licence in sight. Be warned, get your DAS/training sessions booked ASAP if you haven’t already - most centres are reporting backlogs into autumn 😮

However, the new T100 has been too compromised to save production costs of two models, so it will be the SS for me, too!

I would have to ride them back to back but I am guessing the bigger 120 frame on the T100 would work better for me adding a side box for winter gear and two up some rides .What is the story on chain adjustment on either ...I remember some guys talking about taking off the silencer to tighter the chain on passed models ?? ..:)

T-100 for me. I have to have the chrome Triumph badge on any Triumph I would buy. The painted name just won't do........Sal : )
As I'd, probably, be buying one that's a year or two old, I'd go for the Street twin, as you'd be buying a bike with the power upgrade - they look good, too - If I was buying new, i'd, probably, get the T100. Although the £800 difference might still make me decide on the Street Twin and £800 worth of aftermarket stuff to spec it up.
I've been slowly converting into a Triumph fan boy as of late, and thinking about trading in my Honda Rebel 500 for a Triumph next spring (looking at the Trident). I really want to love the Bonnevilles too, but I have such a hard time getting around that look of the engine block with all that open space around it...I don't know why it just looks funky and I can't get over it, but I love the way everything else looks

Not anymore - there used to be the street cup but they stopped selling that one. I think there are some cafe racer fairings available for the Street Twin aftermarket, but they aren't cheap...
There is a Thruxton 900, 69 bhp but you'd have to buy S/H as, I think, they stopped the 900 version in 2016. Still, I'm sure you could find a nice low milage one in good condition.
I'm with you, I prefer the T100 although they are both beautiful bikes.
i've got a 2015 T100 but i'm not sure the new changes are enough to persuade me to upgrade to either to be honest!
Are the new headlamp brackets on the Street twin ,to get over the problem with the wiring loom chaffing on the inside of the brackets because of the ridge on the inside of the old brackets? Caused so many headaches for pre 20 owners.
Both bikes are gorgeous. T100 to me is the way to go…perfect “old school” look, with every modern detail needed to have a worry free experience while riding.
I've picked up my ST just 2 weeks ago and I love it max. I would first preferred the retro look of T100 than ST, however as for my first big cc bike I was advised to go for the lower seat height to gain confident of handling the HT engine. Although, I have been riding for the past 20 years. Perhaps my next project will be T120 instead! LOL
