Vince’s pure negligence caused Bret’s younger brother Owen to pass away on a WWE event and then Vince had the show continue when the wrestlers were visibly horrified. Then Vince screws Bret. I bet Bret knocking Vince out backstage was the best feeling ever!
Just to put in a slight correction on how and why Bret Hart refused to lose to Shawn Michaels: In the lead up to the match, Bret spoke with Shawn and said to him that in spite of all the personal issues they had in the past, he is happy to work with him, that he would make sure he’s professional and that Shawn is completely safe with him in the ring and he’s happy to drop the belt to him. Shawn said he appreciated Bret saying that but he would not do the same for Bret. (IE Bret said he would be happy to lose to Shawn and Shawn said he would not lose to Bret.) At that point, Bret started to offer to lose to anyone else but Shawn or to lose either before or after the event or to surrender the title to McMahon as he felt disrespected by Shawn.

You have to check out the Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows documentary. Gives an inside look at Bret and the family he grew up in and the events leading to TMS. Personally, my favorite Hart member is Bret's younger brother Owen; which sadly passed away too soon in '99 in a terrible incident at a WWF PPV. It's an incident that really paints Vince and the company in a bad light. Bret and Owen had a really great bout in '94 from Wrestlemania to Summerslam. I think there were rumblings that Shawn was trying to screwjob Austin at WM14, which featured Mike Tyson. Shawn was going through personal issues and a 'supposed' back injury and would take a hiatus for a few years. He also had a history string of dropping titles but in a fashion that didn't hurt his credibility/ego. Thankfully, he did business and lost to Austin, which really cemented him. Shawn would however take a dig at Montreal in '05 during his second run in full Heartbreak Kid fashion.

Well, WCW did give McMahon one reason to believe that they might spill the beans earlier about Bret Hart coming to WCW. At some point, WCW Monday Nitro was a live broadcast, and WWF Monday Night Raw was a tape recorded broadcast, that aired an hour or so after Nitro. So while Monday Night Raw was taped before Monday Nitro aired, Nitro would air for the public first. So Eric Bischoff, the guy in charge of WCW, went on his show once, and spoiled all the results of the Monday Night Raw episode that was about to air within the next hour or so. I remember that day. Things like that had never happened before.

Got into wrestling around 2000 when the Smackdown Playstation game came out and didn't really know about this story. WWF was wild in the late 90s, though do feel like it really hit its straps as an entertainment package in the early 2000s. Justice for Bret! Do you have a favourite era, if any, or any favourite wrestlers? Also, watching wrestling in person was some of the most fun I've had at a 'sporting' event, I love the drama and theatre of it all

Cool, there's so much history in North American wrestling, and so many narratives and stories to follow. Mankind has a soft spot in my heart and I was always a big fan of Chyna and Trish Stratus too! Looking back I realise having these literally strong women as part of the WWF was so much a crucial part of it, normalised at a time when a lot of women's sport was subject to derision, sexism and misogyny, even if wrestling was more about entertainment. That'd make for another great vlog! Just so easy to get carried away in the fervour of it all, I love it Seriously love your channel so much and I'm so happy to be part of in some way.
