I think the only lesson this tournament has shown us is that a 32 man tournament is not a big enough sample size, especially when some of these players are out here messing up cyberse eldlich combos, missing celestial draws and forgetting to set magical explosion
i kinda wanna see this, but with a swiss round and a top 8 (with loser bracket) or top 16, a lot of these decks look like there could be some funny matchups
Glad y'all enjoyed my Infernity match so much. Unironically give Infernity 3 launcher they actually need it only to play a combo deck that auto loses to hand traps and can't run them itself. if it gets to go off they deserve to go crazy
I've been preaching this for sooo long!! Give us back Launcher and Archfiend! It's basically a glass cannon, since it requires no cards in your hand to activate the effects. It's EASILY stopped by hand traps but everyone argues with me and says it would be too broken. Imho broken is what meta decks today do where they can play through multiple distributions and STILL make their board lol but what do I know I guess lol
its weird that some cards are in the banlist in an almost symbolic kind of way, like how archfiend and launcher are there as kind of a lesson in hard opt and loops, so we may never get launcher and archfiend back for that reason alone
MBT when the tournament is dominated by the current meta: "I was right! All these cards can be unbanned!" MBT when the current meta loses to rogue decks: "I was right! All these cards can be unbanned!" I'm starting to think this might be a bit rigged.
MBT: I unbanned half the banlist to prove that it wouldn't change a thing the proof: literally on the first duel we get a draw, the exact same reason as to why Last Turn was banned
I like how the tourney was immediately ruined by a card that wasn't banned at the time of these games and later ruined harder by two rando cards MBT chose to unban. Just a glorious clown fiesta
I'm who piloted the Triple Beatrice VW deck, and I might as well say a few things here that I've already tried to say in the Jank Tank. First, in game 2 against The Pile, MBT and his chat either completely missed or ignored the power of a play I made, that being after I Delinquent Duo-ed my opponent, I used Called by the Grave on the Water Enchantress that Duo discarded. So it would've been bad to have discarded Enchantress off Duo, but because cards like Called by the Grave exist, Duo is still broken, but Joseph and his chat just went on blindly jumping to the wrong conclusion that Duo sucks for some reason. Even my opponent secondbass knew how debilitating that Duo/Called play was. And second, in the game 3 against The Pile, I could've done much better than Shenshen pass, but in hindsight, and even at that moment playing the game, I knew that my opponent had too much gas left off the Celestial draws and remaining Magicians' Souls still in deck. So I probably wasn't winning that one no matter what I did.
I mean those are 2 one ofs. That is such a small chance of happening. If there was a more consistent way to banish a card turn one with an ED monster then yeah. Don't get me wrong it's a nasty combo but you in that game lucked into Duo with charge warrior. At 1 it's just not quite as good as it was
Yeah i dont get mbts opinion on duo. its just like omg if pot of greed is at 1 and it doesnt change any of the meta decks or win the game therefore it must be bad. randomly getting +1 or -1 for no cost is just something that shouldnt happen in the game. gj tho, you were the best deck, fun tournament.
@@Chris-rn2dm But it's not a hard +1 like PoG. 1) Cards are going to the gy, so they are not completely gone 2) It's not 2 random cards, but opponent chooses one 3) Opponent has to have at least 2 cards in their hand, unlike PoG which is good in every situation (unless fragrance or io is flipped) It might be ok on the list, but it's much weaker than Pot of Greed

One for One at 3 honestly feels like the craziest thing here, but also interestingly a lot of the top archetypes didnt really take advantage of it. Also Beatrice-Virtual World is so sick.
I think this tournament revealed that while leaving Halq in the format might not have been the right decision, banning Auroradon was not the the wrong one. Unban literally half the banlist, and you still have everyone playing Halqdon. smh.

the best moments: - scrap recycler milling o'lion to actually avoid losing to last turn - true draco losing first round against my brigade boyz! - the plant vs atlantean handloop battle of the FTKs that turned into a grimey sludgefest - danger dark world winning because card destruction gets rid of the opponent's nibiru was hype - the world finally learning that pure dragon rulers aren't broken! been saying that for ages - triple beatrice into obscure stuff beating sky strikers! - infernity just flexing so much that archfiend runs out of targets :D also, finding a really creative way to combo off in game 3... but still losing - ghost reaper and winter cherries ending a game by banishing saryuja - mbt not knowing denglong is a tuner - zoodiac getting really far despite having arguably the lowest ceiling of the entire field - a single copy of smoke grenade of the thief can apparently turn a non-meta deck into THE best deck
@@xdragoonzero0 Even if Redox came back at 1, a pure dragon ruler deck wouldn't be as viable. While the rank 7 engine is still good, it's not as powerful as the current link and synchro pools are now. Dragon Link, on the other hand, would love the extra 4 special summons.
dont forget Spellbooks also proved that the pure spellbook deck can almost hold a candle the meta in 2022 but you dont even need Ash or Droll to make Judgement a bricky card
Well, we learned a few things. Auroradon being banned was huge for the game. Putting FD to 3 was definitely a mistake and the cards clearly an issue without Verte too. Probably needs to be banned or at least limited. And handlooping is still very good.
@@jadegrace1312 Honestly, it makes more sense to ban the card that was created to combo to halq and becomes useless without it, versus Banning halq that can be used for other stuff. But, might as well ban it since all the synchro decks that relied on the Auroradon combo are dead or maybe leave it be.
@@chewdoom8415 They should ban halq because they can then unban bulb and o-lion and also halq is just begging to be further abused in the future. Aurordan is really not even a very good card without halq. Also even with halq and auroradon legal if mbt hadn't unbanned bulb this tournament would've had so much less halqdon.
I love how the situation came up that justified the decision to put Halq at 1. That said, im glad that all the jank decks with heavy brick potential went off at least once.
This tournament show us that by far the best hit was Auroradon. Really, two of the top four, including the first place, did pretty much way too many degenerate combos because you can basically trade a single card from your hand in to at least two interruptions.
@@Exisist5151 halq isnt a problem anymore. halq is a strong card and... that's it. but auroradon was ONLY ever used for degenerate purposes and the sole existence of auroradon limits what konami can create or not for machine type decks. Because if you make a deck that can summon auroradon too easily without halqi, you're fucked.
the only thing that made halqi really BROKEN was the sole existence of STUPID cards like linkross, summon sorcerer, auroradon, union carrier, verte and all that bullshit. Halqi as a card isn't that huge of a problem, but halqi was released when we had those case of STUPID cards legal on the game and halqi was one easy way to access the degenerate shit.
All I have to say to the Last Turn player is that we literally have an archetype that can lower your LP to 1000 in 3 activations and yet you still think Wall is the best way to play this deck?
Yeah half the players in the ftk section of this just permanently have their brain in 2005 era. Ironically enough you get to your combo trap cards via curious dumping it and halqdon setting it from grave or knightmare gryphon. No need to play cup of ass and you can even play handtraps.
And this is why you run Starving Venom in your branded deck. NS the chain, super poly off the archfiend. The barriers are dead and the Starving Venom can fiend both Fleur negates. Edit: wow this Branded player literally has none of the really good super poly haymakers. Mudragon would have ended the dlink
I do love how auradon who just got banned was the most oppressive card of this tournament. Took it a bit to get broken but now it can never go back. I did like the deck variety of this tournament but I think it is a good example of how limiting cards can really prevent some cards from being broken. Floowondereeze ultimate offering but because it's at 1 never showed up. Same delinquent duo, just never really appeared in anyones going first hands and if it did, it's just for one game.
I cannot believe that Zoodiac got into finals. This is just such an impressive flex on the power of Zeus and it makes me want to make multi layer Zeus in something like Time Thief just because you can add even more materials to it post xyz summon

Yeah, considering he does a tournament like it on the regular its not that unreasonable to spread this out over multiple streams for a larger tournament. Also, I'm not sure which Discord I know you from, but its good to see that very chuckleworthy name again man
I feel making it open would make it worse and the players in here weren’t that great to begin with. Honestly it would probably be better if the players got more time to lab their decks. Rather than a tourney with functionally new cards

Letting halq and auroradon (and arguably verte too) stay legal for this tournament was a TERRIBLE decision. The other MBTs weren't the greatest themselves, but it didn't feel as homogenous as this one, where half the lists are on the adventurer engine and halqdon combos have even more toys to play with.
At least some cool decks got to top 8 this time. Grass Roots Dragon was literally the only interesting deck that got any traction last year and even that's debatable
What do you expect from a players base that has been trained and indoctrinated into don't think for yourself don't brew or build just follow what the meta tells you to play like good little sheep
In a tournament with 32 broken decks using some of the most powerful cards Konami has ever printed, the most powerful strategy in every single one of these games has been Auroradon combo. Thank fucking christ that card was banned.
Watching this makes me wonder if Zeus should go to 1? One of the things that made that Zoo deck so formidable was being able to drop one Zeus on top of another. That’s like a 3-activation Zeus and that’s going to be nearly impossible for any deck to play through.
Oh please, my Crystal Beast deck can slam down a 7 material Zeus immediately if I want it to. And it can also get a full power Great Magnus if I don't feel like messing around with the Tribrigade links.
Don't they conflict? You can just attack the fiber jar to set it off, and it wipes out all the floodgates. Then you go off in MP2 to prevent them restablishing the floodgates. Realistically, if fiber jar was used it would be offensively in a deck that can trigger it natively. Set off your own fiber jar then otk with the five cards in hand. Or maybe you could make a burn deck that uses fiber jar to refuel; again while triggering it yourself using the decks' native effects.
Honestly there's so many skill issues in the tourney, tatsym is great but he got to run away with so many games because his opponents were outplaying themselves like not otking/having a interacting board but instead sitting on a denglong. A lot of the players have great decks in there hands but aren't piloting properly, maybe give them more time to practice before date of tourney?

@@NintendoMasterNo1 He specifically says its meant to prove a point. Several times. I think if you want to truly prove or disprove that point you need more data. Having misplays is realistic since Im sure people misplay at official tourneys. Having a ton of really obvious misplays is less so. The main thing this showed is that the FTKs people are so scared of are much more inconsistent in the current meta. Monsters with on summon effect, negations, protection, and floating effects are far more common. So you really have a different dynamic than you would have back these banned cards first came out.
@@DarkKnight179 Maybe not but we know Master Plan unban is okay. Wasn't even the best deck in 2020 when she got banned lol. You could definitely take Master Plan and Resort off the list and the deck would be worse than modern decks.

Like I don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that it is better than anything that BASED was doing, and the deck can't even play adventure cause it needs it's normal
@@jadegrace1312 Actually, considering I was able to get off a pretty consistent Time Thief SPYRAL deck when Master Plan was legal I don't actually think the deck really needs its normal summon effects. It can pretty easily extend just off of a pitched master plan and a few SPYRALS into Double Helix to get Quick Fix. There's also Machine Dupe to consider if you really wanna unlimit Quick Fix so the deck can definitely run Adventure as long as it gets Master Plan back
The real problem with this format isn't the unbans but its the god awful players and lists mbt picks no ones playing any handtraps so we just see a bunch of halqdon and bad ftks stare at each other and it justs end up being a die roll with some random shit come out on top
Dude, every single player except Noid and some FTKs is running Droll in the side or main deck and most of them are also playing Nibiru and Ash as well. Clearly that's not enough hand traps for you
you do realize that even the players who did not get picked to be in the tournament were not using nearly as much of what was available to them in their decks so who is really to blame

@@deancombs4075 they went way too quickly through their engine most of the time (completely unnecessarily i may add) only to end on shit that does significantly less than the cookie-cutter board of apo for 3 + revolt lol, besides that i think one of tri-brigade's strengths is not to solely rely on their front row but to fall back on revolt and a bunch of other powerful (hand-)traps if their monsters get outed so they were really just playing with fire for the fun of it
I just realized an odd flaw about MBT's unbanning criteria of "The Meta would be unchanged". Doesn't that mean that a great portion of the cards he's unbanning are also benefiting the decks that are already the best? If you unban a card that only cements a Meta stronghold, surely that's good reason to keep it banned. His point would be made a lot better if a Meta deck that played no unbanned cards won, but that wouldn't be very interesting for the player piloting that deck.
your point would be valid if he allowed more players to play. This 32-player tournament went on for 2.5 hours, imagine if you have to include top meta without the newly unbanned cards, the video would be maybe 10 hours long and I don't think people have the time to sit through that.
The idea is that the unhits may be annoying but they don't significantly change the gameplay of existing meta decks and they don't make any existing rogue decks better than like tier 2
@@Carlitonsp1 if you put both at 3 then every deck can easily dig 40 cards on turn 1 and reach insane levels of consistency and essentially no upper ceiling on power Even either card at 1 is just a huge free boost if you open with it. At least extra deck cards have summoning conditions and usually only work with some archetypes, even if they are bonkers strong like halq and verte if you hit other cards they stay reasonable
Would be very funny if he did that and we actually got some Subterror representation because the deck can actually go into it fairly easily off of one of their larger monsters simply because its a Thunder that activates in hand. Also, Nemesis could literally get this splashed into any deck that banishes, so there's that working against it

Absolutely loved being a part of this tournament. Didn't expect to even get picked, let alone make it to semi finals! Hopefully I can come back next time for some redemption, or maybe get into a CSM sometime soon. As for why I did pure: I tried out a Bird Up build at first cuz I wanted to use Simorgh, but I struggled while building it. The thing that got me to go pure with the build was the fact that I wanted to use DPE, but I realized while doing test hands that FD conflicts with Simorgh, so that's when I decided to build it pure. Also, sorry for nearly giving you a hernia in my TD match, MBT. Still not used to the EDOPro UI even after 4 rounds of this tournament (hence a couple of miss clicks in some of my games)
Man I was so happy when I top decked master peace. Game 2 I might have won had they not hit exactly skill drain. Glad I was able to entertain the draco enjoyers at least
If this tourney sat out to prove that "nothing would change", I don't really think it accomplished that goal. A few reasons: 1: A sample size of a 32 man tournament is simply not nearly enough to determine the trends of an entire meta. 2: Metas take time to be "solved". Weeks, maybe months of playtesting and people going to locals, regionals and other places where actual data can be gathered. With half the banlist suddenly free game, it could even take longer to establish what would be good in this format. A single tournament cannot accomplish this. 3: Other comments have pointed out that many players made subpar decisions in terms of gameplay and deckbuilding. Misplays happen, but to this extent, it muddles the overall results of the tournament, skewing what might be learned from it. Overall, I think this was immensely entertaining, but nonetheless ineffective at communicating the message of "nothing would change".
I think the message was maybe serious the first time, and since then it's just been "removing cards from the list, then doing an insignificant tournament for content"
I love that gadget deck so much. But they REALLY need more quick effects to end on than just utopic future+ basically vanillas pass. There's so many good rank 4s, dweller is an ftk, rafflesia is an interruption that can insulate vs nibiru, tornado dragon maybe, even a redoer would be better than ending on exciton.
Honestly with how the Infernoble player bungled the combos I'm really surprised they took it but I guess that goes to show how powerful smoke grenade and hand rip is! like i guess im Gianfranco pilled for Draccosack combo lines for that deck tho cause seeing it end with power tool or coltwing on field was sad but INFERNOBLE BEST DECK

Sure the Pure DR list wasn't great, but the Rulers in Dragon Link were completly cracked, literally on their own pulling a win from literally zero card hand and an empty board, just by having dragons in grave, that thing that D Link does really well already just by playing.

@@jadegrace1312 I think the bigger nail in the coffin for a lot of dragon strategies right now is a little something DIFO gave albaz.dek: alba-lenatus. "Oh, you made a huge board of dragons just for me? Let me just set this monster so I can eat it right up". I still think releasing all the cards at once that will trigger PTSD in a certain group of players is a bad idea. Maybe ease them into it: wind to semi and take one of the others to 1. It didn't ruin everything? bring them all to 1 and unlimit wind. Still no apocalypse? Rinse, repeat until they're all off...or until the next dragon strategy ruins the format.
Dam the Beatrice was so cool, I was hoping for that to make it to the end. Also on a side note, I kinda wanna see how crazy the pend decks would be in you take off elect.
I decided to do some quick back of the napkin math for how many days yata was banned, just out of my own curiosity. Turns out it’s only about 6,570 days, not taking into account when exactly it was banned or leap days.

from this tournament I thing konami just did a lot of right thing. I never ever want to play with that 4 activation zeus and water hand loop again in my life. Thank you mbt to made me remember that.
Anyone notice that the die roll pretty much won every 3-of? I think these banned cards just show that they make going first insanely OP and it doesn't matter how janky it is, if you go first you pretty much win, especially if your FTK/First Turn Board can play through Ash/Droll
I think the funniest take away I have from this is that not only can more cards come off but that the design change in a lot of archtypes has allowed deckbuilding to change. Seeing all of these FTKs fold to like a single handtrap is what I expected but whats more interesting is that they often don't have the space to play those same defensive hand traps. I normally haven't liked hand traps because they really felt like variations on Mental Misstep in MTG, but I think this has changed my opinion on them.
I would be super interested in a community voted Moron Banlist Tournament. Get people to vote on the cards to bring back and see how much chaos is actually caused.
Yeah, even with Verte banned now, Fusion Destiny cannot come back to three, and maybe it may even need to be moved to limited. This all showed WAY too many situations where Fusion a destiny was used from hand at the end of a combo or used on its own.
Semi limit like OCG isn’t bad. If people wanna play two garnets to draw their 2-of, let them. Limiting it it to 1 means it’s only played in fusion decks that search it, which is a little too much power. At 3, it’s a no brainer must-include in most decks.

Might I suggest trying to use a small Dinomorphia engine the next time we try Last Turn. They can get to 1000 Life Points off of one card and it even packs some pretty nice disruption ontop of that. Definitely better than Wall even if you have to watch for Ash
That gizmek dragon guy is a free summon if your opponent has 2 or more extra deck monsters on their field, and can spend LP to board wipe extra deck monsters. When it's destroyed, you gain some LP and I'm sure that counts for something.
Man, I kind of miss these tournaments. I get that there’s not really anywhere to go after unbanning 100 cards, but it was fun to see some weird jank stuff played at a comparatively high level

What’s sad is infernoble literally can’t do anything without auroradon I’ve been trying to make it work with the new banlist but it’s just so bad Edit: I found the holy grail of infernoble combos after labbing no auroradon builds till 5 am the dream is not dead in fact I think this build is unironically stronger than before :)

@@Stalutes64 Honestly really cool combo and I appreciate you explaining the whole thing. The Isolde being able to summon the Buster Blader is news to me actually and was super neat to find out about.
So if you end on seal i:p with any lv8 dragon synchro, you can tribute seal, seal summon a dragon tuner, i:p eff, link itself and the dragon tuner into halq, summon a lv2. Halq ef banish to summon formula. Formula + lv2 tuner + lv8 dragon synchro = hot red calamities. The issue is that there's no follow up, but dragon rulers are the follow-up.
This only seems like Chaos because no one knows what to do. If this was the actual banlist, it would take some time for refined decks to rise to power and the formatted would be completely dominated by few absolute powerhouse decks.
I'm simply in awe over the Water vs Plant FTK match and I'm only 36 minutes into the video. Gonna be a wild ride lmao. You just don't see matches of Yugioh like that anymore, it's like that match was pulled straight from 2011. I find it funny though how the decks not using hand traps end up being the best match (so far). I think next you should consider a no-handtrap tournament and just see where things go, since a lot of decks are completely invalid and walled out by just 1 hand trap.

I think the only lesson this tournament has shown us is that a 32 man tournament is not a big enough sample size, especially when some of these players are out here messing up cyberse eldlich combos, missing celestial draws and forgetting to set magical explosion

I've been preaching this for sooo long!! Give us back Launcher and Archfiend! It's basically a glass cannon, since it requires no cards in your hand to activate the effects. It's EASILY stopped by hand traps but everyone argues with me and says it would be too broken. Imho broken is what meta decks today do where they can play through multiple distributions and STILL make their board lol but what do I know I guess lol
its weird that some cards are in the banlist in an almost symbolic kind of way, like how archfiend and launcher are there as kind of a lesson in hard opt and loops, so we may never get launcher and archfiend back for that reason alone

I'm who piloted the Triple Beatrice VW deck, and I might as well say a few things here that I've already tried to say in the Jank Tank. First, in game 2 against The Pile, MBT and his chat either completely missed or ignored the power of a play I made, that being after I Delinquent Duo-ed my opponent, I used Called by the Grave on the Water Enchantress that Duo discarded. So it would've been bad to have discarded Enchantress off Duo, but because cards like Called by the Grave exist, Duo is still broken, but Joseph and his chat just went on blindly jumping to the wrong conclusion that Duo sucks for some reason. Even my opponent secondbass knew how debilitating that Duo/Called play was. And second, in the game 3 against The Pile, I could've done much better than Shenshen pass, but in hindsight, and even at that moment playing the game, I knew that my opponent had too much gas left off the Celestial draws and remaining Magicians' Souls still in deck. So I probably wasn't winning that one no matter what I did.
I mean those are 2 one ofs. That is such a small chance of happening. If there was a more consistent way to banish a card turn one with an ED monster then yeah. Don't get me wrong it's a nasty combo but you in that game lucked into Duo with charge warrior. At 1 it's just not quite as good as it was

1) Cards are going to the gy, so they are not completely gone
2) It's not 2 random cards, but opponent chooses one
3) Opponent has to have at least 2 cards in their hand, unlike PoG which is good in every situation (unless fragrance or io is flipped)

I think this tournament revealed that while leaving Halq in the format might not have been the right decision, banning Auroradon was not the the wrong one. Unban literally half the banlist, and you still have everyone playing Halqdon. smh.
If they just banned Halq for this tournament there wouldn't have been a single Aurordan being played.

Admittedly it was Pure Dragon Rulers where 2 where still limited and another banned.
@@xdragoonzero0 Even if Redox came back at 1, a pure dragon ruler deck wouldn't be as viable. While the rank 7 engine is still good, it's not as powerful as the current link and synchro pools are now. Dragon Link, on the other hand, would love the extra 4 special summons.
dont forget Spellbooks also proved that the pure spellbook deck can almost hold a candle the meta in 2022 but you dont even need Ash or Droll to make Judgement a bricky card
Well, we learned a few things. Auroradon being banned was huge for the game. Putting FD to 3 was definitely a mistake and the cards clearly an issue without Verte too. Probably needs to be banned or at least limited. And handlooping is still very good.
Verte was legal for this tournament.
Auroradon doesn't matter when the problem is halq and has always been halq. It's boggles the mind how people dont see that.

Aurordan is really not even a very good card without halq. Also even with halq and auroradon legal if mbt hadn't unbanned bulb this tournament would've had so much less halqdon.

That said, im glad that all the jank decks with heavy brick potential went off at least once.
This tournament show us that by far the best hit was Auroradon. Really, two of the top four, including the first place, did pretty much way too many degenerate combos because you can basically trade a single card from your hand in to at least two interruptions.

@@Exisist5151 halq isnt a problem anymore. halq is a strong card and... that's it. but auroradon was ONLY ever used for degenerate purposes and the sole existence of auroradon limits what konami can create or not for machine type decks. Because if you make a deck that can summon auroradon too easily without halqi, you're fucked.
the only thing that made halqi really BROKEN was the sole existence of STUPID cards like linkross, summon sorcerer, auroradon, union carrier, verte and all that bullshit. Halqi as a card isn't that huge of a problem, but halqi was released when we had those case of STUPID cards legal on the game and halqi was one easy way to access the degenerate shit.
All I have to say to the Last Turn player is that we literally have an archetype that can lower your LP to 1000 in 3 activations and yet you still think Wall is the best way to play this deck?

I do love how auradon who just got banned was the most oppressive card of this tournament. Took it a bit to get broken but now it can never go back. I did like the deck variety of this tournament but I think it is a good example of how limiting cards can really prevent some cards from being broken. Floowondereeze ultimate offering but because it's at 1 never showed up. Same delinquent duo, just never really appeared in anyones going first hands and if it did, it's just for one game.
I cannot believe that Zoodiac got into finals. This is just such an impressive flex on the power of Zeus and it makes me want to make multi layer Zeus in something like Time Thief just because you can add even more materials to it post xyz summon

Letting halq and auroradon (and arguably verte too) stay legal for this tournament was a TERRIBLE decision. The other MBTs weren't the greatest themselves, but it didn't feel as homogenous as this one, where half the lists are on the adventurer engine and halqdon combos have even more toys to play with.
At least some cool decks got to top 8 this time. Grass Roots Dragon was literally the only interesting deck that got any traction last year and even that's debatable
I was disappointed that that tri-brigade didn't go branded in this tourney.
What do you expect from a players base that has been trained and indoctrinated into don't think for yourself don't brew or build just follow what the meta tells you to play like good little sheep

You can just attack the fiber jar to set it off, and it wipes out all the floodgates.
Then you go off in MP2 to prevent them restablishing the floodgates.
Realistically, if fiber jar was used it would be offensively in a deck that can trigger it natively. Set off your own fiber jar then otk with the five cards in hand.
Or maybe you could make a burn deck that uses fiber jar to refuel; again while triggering it yourself using the decks' native effects.

Honestly there's so many skill issues in the tourney, tatsym is great but he got to run away with so many games because his opponents were outplaying themselves like not otking/having a interacting board but instead sitting on a denglong. A lot of the players have great decks in there hands but aren't piloting properly, maybe give them more time to practice before date of tourney?
This is a tournament for fun and entertainment, not a serious event. You shouldn't expect YCS level plays here.

@@NintendoMasterNo1 He specifically says its meant to prove a point. Several times. I think if you want to truly prove or disprove that point you need more data. Having misplays is realistic since Im sure people misplay at official tourneys. Having a ton of really obvious misplays is less so.
The main thing this showed is that the FTKs people are so scared of are much more inconsistent in the current meta. Monsters with on summon effect, negations, protection, and floating effects are far more common. So you really have a different dynamic than you would have back these banned cards first came out.

@@jadegrace1312 Actually, considering I was able to get off a pretty consistent Time Thief SPYRAL deck when Master Plan was legal I don't actually think the deck really needs its normal summon effects. It can pretty easily extend just off of a pitched master plan and a few SPYRALS into Double Helix to get Quick Fix. There's also Machine Dupe to consider if you really wanna unlimit Quick Fix so the deck can definitely run Adventure as long as it gets Master Plan back
So what I've learnt today is that Dragon Ruler Link is an absolutely sick deck and it must never ever be allowed to exist.
The real problem with this format isn't the unbans but its the god awful players and lists mbt picks no ones playing any handtraps so we just see a bunch of halqdon and bad ftks stare at each other and it justs end up being a die roll with some random shit come out on top

@@deancombs4075 they went way too quickly through their engine most of the time (completely unnecessarily i may add) only to end on shit that does significantly less than the cookie-cutter board of apo for 3 + revolt lol, besides that i think one of tri-brigade's strengths is not to solely rely on their front row but to fall back on revolt and a bunch of other powerful (hand-)traps if their monsters get outed so they were really just playing with fire for the fun of it

I just realized an odd flaw about MBT's unbanning criteria of "The Meta would be unchanged". Doesn't that mean that a great portion of the cards he's unbanning are also benefiting the decks that are already the best? If you unban a card that only cements a Meta stronghold, surely that's good reason to keep it banned. His point would be made a lot better if a Meta deck that played no unbanned cards won, but that wouldn't be very interesting for the player piloting that deck.
your point would be valid if he allowed more players to play. This 32-player tournament went on for 2.5 hours, imagine if you have to include top meta without the newly unbanned cards, the video would be maybe 10 hours long and I don't think people have the time to sit through that.

The idea is that the unhits may be annoying but they don't significantly change the gameplay of existing meta decks and they don't make any existing rogue decks better than like tier 2

@@Carlitonsp1 if you put both at 3 then every deck can easily dig 40 cards on turn 1 and reach insane levels of consistency and essentially no upper ceiling on power
Even either card at 1 is just a huge free boost if you open with it.
At least extra deck cards have summoning conditions and usually only work with some archetypes, even if they are bonkers strong like halq and verte if you hit other cards they stay reasonable

Would be very funny if he did that and we actually got some Subterror representation because the deck can actually go into it fairly easily off of one of their larger monsters simply because its a Thunder that activates in hand. Also, Nemesis could literally get this splashed into any deck that banishes, so there's that working against it

All these videos have taught me is that Droll is the great equalizer that holds back the degenerate ftks.
Rule of thumb: If Droll is in the meta, the meta is bad and needs like 3 banlists to fix.
Absolutely loved being a part of this tournament. Didn't expect to even get picked, let alone make it to semi finals! Hopefully I can come back next time for some redemption, or maybe get into a CSM sometime soon. As for why I did pure: I tried out a Bird Up build at first cuz I wanted to use Simorgh, but I struggled while building it. The thing that got me to go pure with the build was the fact that I wanted to use DPE, but I realized while doing test hands that FD conflicts with Simorgh, so that's when I decided to build it pure.
Also, sorry for nearly giving you a hernia in my TD match, MBT. Still not used to the EDOPro UI even after 4 rounds of this tournament (hence a couple of miss clicks in some of my games)

Okay, but that Infernity loss after they had such an incredibly strong game 1 was devastating.
That summon of Zeus on top of another Zeus had me cracking
If this tourney sat out to prove that "nothing would change", I don't really think it accomplished that goal. A few reasons:
1: A sample size of a 32 man tournament is simply not nearly enough to determine the trends of an entire meta.
2: Metas take time to be "solved". Weeks, maybe months of playtesting and people going to locals, regionals and other places where actual data can be gathered. With half the banlist suddenly free game, it could even take longer to establish what would be good in this format. A single tournament cannot accomplish this.
3: Other comments have pointed out that many players made subpar decisions in terms of gameplay and deckbuilding. Misplays happen, but to this extent, it muddles the overall results of the tournament, skewing what might be learned from it.
Overall, I think this was immensely entertaining, but nonetheless ineffective at communicating the message of "nothing would change".
I think the message was maybe serious the first time, and since then it's just been "removing cards from the list, then doing an insignificant tournament for content"
I love that gadget deck so much. But they REALLY need more quick effects to end on than just utopic future+ basically vanillas pass. There's so many good rank 4s, dweller is an ftk, rafflesia is an interruption that can insulate vs nibiru, tornado dragon maybe, even a redoer would be better than ending on exciton.
Honestly with how the Infernoble player bungled the combos I'm really surprised they took it but I guess that goes to show how powerful smoke grenade and hand rip is!

They can all go to three and no one would play them. At best they are going to be playable, the dragon rulers require too much set ups to be good.

Sure the Pure DR list wasn't great, but the Rulers in Dragon Link were completly cracked, literally on their own pulling a win from literally zero card hand and an empty board, just by having dragons in grave, that thing that D Link does really well already just by playing.

@@jadegrace1312 I think the bigger nail in the coffin for a lot of dragon strategies right now is a little something DIFO gave albaz.dek: alba-lenatus. "Oh, you made a huge board of dragons just for me? Let me just set this monster so I can eat it right up". I still think releasing all the cards at once that will trigger PTSD in a certain group of players is a bad idea. Maybe ease them into it: wind to semi and take one of the others to 1. It didn't ruin everything? bring them all to 1 and unlimit wind. Still no apocalypse? Rinse, repeat until they're all off...or until the next dragon strategy ruins the format.

I decided to do some quick back of the napkin math for how many days yata was banned, just out of my own curiosity. Turns out it’s only about 6,570 days, not taking into account when exactly it was banned or leap days.

Anyone notice that the die roll pretty much won every 3-of? I think these banned cards just show that they make going first insanely OP and it doesn't matter how janky it is, if you go first you pretty much win, especially if your FTK/First Turn Board can play through Ash/Droll

I think the funniest take away I have from this is that not only can more cards come off but that the design change in a lot of archtypes has allowed deckbuilding to change. Seeing all of these FTKs fold to like a single handtrap is what I expected but whats more interesting is that they often don't have the space to play those same defensive hand traps. I normally haven't liked hand traps because they really felt like variations on Mental Misstep in MTG, but I think this has changed my opinion on them.
I would be super interested in a community voted Moron Banlist Tournament. Get people to vote on the cards to bring back and see how much chaos is actually caused.

Yeah, even with Verte banned now, Fusion Destiny cannot come back to three, and maybe it may even need to be moved to limited. This all showed WAY too many situations where Fusion a destiny was used from hand at the end of a combo or used on its own.
Semi limit like OCG isn’t bad. If people wanna play two garnets to draw their 2-of, let them. Limiting it it to 1 means it’s only played in fusion decks that search it, which is a little too much power. At 3, it’s a no brainer must-include in most decks.

Might I suggest trying to use a small Dinomorphia engine the next time we try Last Turn. They can get to 1000 Life Points off of one card and it even packs some pretty nice disruption ontop of that. Definitely better than Wall even if you have to watch for Ash
Instead of bad draw cards use gryphon to set your trap and send it to grave via curious or goods.

That gizmek dragon guy is a free summon if your opponent has 2 or more extra deck monsters on their field, and can spend LP to board wipe extra deck monsters. When it's destroyed, you gain some LP and I'm sure that counts for something.
I think the thing I learned from this video is no matter how good the deck is, if god says start with garnets, YOU WILL DRAW GARNETS.

So if you end on seal i:p with any lv8 dragon synchro, you can tribute seal, seal summon a dragon tuner, i:p eff, link itself and the dragon tuner into halq, summon a lv2. Halq ef banish to summon formula. Formula + lv2 tuner + lv8 dragon synchro = hot red calamities. The issue is that there's no follow up, but dragon rulers are the follow-up.
Clearly we need to unban more stuff. We need to embrace the Chaos.
This only seems like Chaos because no one knows what to do. If this was the actual banlist, it would take some time for refined decks to rise to power and the formatted would be completely dominated by few absolute powerhouse decks.
I'm simply in awe over the Water vs Plant FTK match and I'm only 36 minutes into the video. Gonna be a wild ride lmao. You just don't see matches of Yugioh like that anymore, it's like that match was pulled straight from 2011. I find it funny though how the decks not using hand traps end up being the best match (so far). I think next you should consider a no-handtrap tournament and just see where things go, since a lot of decks are completely invalid and walled out by just 1 hand trap.

Ever since VFD got banned, VW has been such a sick deck. just the fact that it operates on this weird 6/9 angle. What other deck can even remotely consistently put up triple beatrice? also: chenchen+shushe is really cool. the way the engine functions. the interaction with banishing. the artwork, the manner in which spells, traps and monsters all flow into each other.
